Hi Tammy....yes maybe next time....we have since been told that it really isn't like the Villages in terms of crowds of people. It appears to be a much more quiet private setting...which is great for those looking for that. Thanks for your comment :0)

Wish you had done your research beforehand. I've been doing retirement/relocation research for the past couple months and discovered fairly quickly that OTOW was considerably laid back. Why, you would go in looking for the same "Disney" activity that you should have been aware didn't exist, and then keep emphasizing its non-existence really wasn't fair to the community. You're correct that it all depends on what you're looking for, but would like to have seem a little less biased review. This was truly a disservice and... remember, was during Covid as well!

I don’t see where the competition is. Top of the world seems to be for those who like to keep to themselves and not be out and about like villagers love to be out and about.

OTOW is a private community. That's why you couldn't get in. If you make an appointment with a sales counselor, you will be able to get a full tour instead of the exterior.

Is OTOTW a traditional “town” community with residents electing officials, establishing HOAs, etc., or is it an oligopoly of one owner/family as the Morse family in The Villages? Thank you for any insight.

I have visited The Villages several times since 2012 when my friend bought a home there. I will be visiting The Villages again in July for 2 weeks. Love it there...so many clubs and activities. I hope to move to The Villages in a few years. The Villages is for someone who wants an active lifestyle in their Golden years. If you want a quieter lifestyle, there are probably cheaper 55+ communities to move to than The Villages. The security person at the front gate of On Top of the Worls did not seem very welcoming or helpful. The Villages is much larger than OTOW.... 130,000 people in The Villages vs. maybe 10,000 people in OTOW. OTOW is a truly gated community, which is a must have for some people. The Villages is a community with gates. One thing that surprised me was that no OTIOW residents were in their town square while you were filming. 11 am on a Sunday morning is not that early. A couple corrections in your review. OTOW has over 120 clubs PLUS a remote Airfield AND remote Car track, 2 very fun activities Villages does not have. So, when you infer OTOW is less active than Villages, that isn't true. This poor review was conducted during COVID when all businesses were shuttered. It would've been honest and proper for the Vloggers to disclose that valuable information. Sadly, they chose not to. Leads me and others to believe they have a vested interest in the Villages. So let me understand this, you choose to explore a retirement community on a Sunday (Sabbath) morning and your shocked nobody's out and about? You choose to only visit once and you choose a day that would have the least activity in most any community much less a retirement community. You said the houses looked beautiful but you didn't show any. You labeled your Video "The Villages Vs On Top of the World but there was no comparison content. Worst click bait ever, Poor content, poor audio. However this was great content for how not to do a KZbin video. I give this 2 thumbs down on the Siskel and Ebert Scale.

It’s On Top of the World , not Top of the world. They do have the same events as the Villages as well as thousands of golf carts. Maybe you should have had a guide. Plus you went with Covid

Maybe Sunday am is not the best time to visit. Remember Saturday night- they might be recovering from that? I know many retired people sleep 8n later just because the can. Maybe another try later in the day.

I’m torn. I am a quiet person, but part of me is drawn to the active lifestyle TV offers. I know I will be able to make many friends quickly. That said, I don’t know that I will enjoy all the traffic and hub but every day. I’m still working though so while I get it will be very different when I’m retired, at the moment I find the calm of OTOW appealing. I just wish it was MUCH MORE golf cart friendly. @@pattyc301 I will say since it is gated, you will need an appointment to visit the rest of the community. It is not a Villages in terms of "LOTS" of activity - but it has its fair share. We are active young 60’s and did not want the long wait lines for golf and other in the villages. It’s still close enough to go and enjoy - but OTOW seemed better for us. My wife an I looked at TOTW , ended up buying down the street at Del Web spruce creek. My wife has two brothers in the villages so we are there a lot but I like the gated part that the TV does not have.as far as golf carts go, there are golf cart roads that run parallel to route 200 that get you to most of the accommodations.

I’m looking at Sun City Center preferably Kingspoint. Prices are similar but KP is mostly single story duplexes. Maintenance fee looked a little higher. Anyone with advice on SCC area vs OTOTW? I’ll eventually check both out myself. Looking for my mom who will purchase and use a bit and eventually in 10 years I’ll move full time at 55. Part of me likes the way OTOTW looks but the other part we like the single story duplexes at Kingspoint

If you do a lifestyle stay you have golf carts and bikes to use. Villages has approx 170,000 folks versus a much smaller otow. There are many golf cart paths. You should do a lifestyle stay to fully understand what is available. You are only showing the semi private area of otow. Since it is gated, you are not in the hub of otow, there are many more activity centers etc within the property. Plus Ocala has a lot of outdoor activity opportunities. Sorry to say but you have shown a very outside review of otow.

The Villages is wonderful I mean there are close to 200k people there so it must be great, and I know it has got be a real treat sharing the road with approx 75k Golf Carts gliding in out and around the countless shopping centers and restaurants, I mean there are more Golf Carts in the Villages than people in OTOW! what lunatic after working 30 or 40 yrs wants to live in a peaceful serene parklike setting? Crazy if you ask me, by all means stay away and head for The Fabulous Villages a "happening place for happening people" So go get em tiger for the truth is if you like the Villages OTOW would be absolutely the wrong place for you.
