What a gracious lady to let us walk through her lovely home! Good people!!!!

Thank you for this video. We left NJ for The Villages the summer of 2020 to escape Covid. Plus, we had just retired. Sue Smith & Deb did a walk through with Roz, and I was sold. We were the 2nd renters to occupy Hickory building #3. We had a 1yr lease in unit #3105. It was so convenient to everything; The Villages Health and the Advanced Healthcare medical offices, to the Publix, to Brownwood Paddock Square. I liked to run 5K every other day, dance at the square a bit, walked about 5 miles everyday, and swam in the Trillium Rec Center pool a lot, as it was about 90 feet from our unit. Very nice! We got our exercise. We had no golf cart because as renters, no insurer offered liability insurance, so we didn’t risk it, and missed out on that experience. But we got around by car. That was fine.Our main concern was the spraying inside the units for pests. Our unit was infested with Palmetto roaches. The treatment killed some bugs, but they kept coming. We dreaded turned on the lights in the morning. And worse, getting up in the middle of the night without turning lights on! They refused to die. I believe we developed health related issues due to overspraying WE REQUESTED. When we left for 3 weeks to visit relatives in June and July, our symptoms went away. Then last January to February in 2021, the Lofts lowered the rent between $200 and $500 per unit. We asked for an adjustment and were denied. So we knew we were done there. Our neighbors Frandy(Frank & Andy) needed their walls painted and patched because of picture hanging and The Lofts charged them $2,500. When we left, our full deposit was returned. We left the unit spotless, like we were never there. Brand new. Probably our best experiences though were with people we met over the year. It was hard to say goodbye when we moved back to DelMarVa to be near our children and grandchildren. The heat, humidity, and bugs were a definite factor though. We might still be renting or homeowners in The Villages if not for that. We would never have known though if we hadn’t stayed for a full year. We have some great memories- obviously we still look forward to Mondays and Thursdays with Jerry & Linda.

Thank you Eric. This is a very informative comment. It is especially helpful to hear the full story. We are quite surprised that you had trouble with insects. We don't spray the inside of our home and we have seen hardly any. We get the occasional tiny, tiny ants. We have a pest control company that puts powder behind our light switches and it controls them very well. Sorry to hear about your health issues, and hope that you are back to normal. Thanks again for the great summary of your experiences at the Lofts.

Thank you for this video! I hope The Villages recognize there is a very large market of apartment dwellers and have plans to build more apartment communities in the future. There are just so many of us that do not want the responsibilities that homeownership brings. Lovely to have a single-family home, but personally, I do not want all of the work associated with having one. The Lofts would be a perfect solution for someone like myself to enjoy the lifestyle The Villages has to offer without worrying about contractors, expenses, etc.

I am loving catching up on your videos. You both are so sweet, and l love your interviewing skills . Joanne was adorable and so kind to let us view her apt. My sister in law drove me over to Brownwood when they were constructing the downtown. There was nothing there but vacant areas and construction. We ended up grabbing a bite to eat at a little hot dog type food truck . The town are turned out so nicely, l love the log cabin look . Reminds me of old time FL. One of my favorite books is A Land Remembered. It was a great story about an early settler . I think it is required reading for all FL public school students. Thanks again for sharing .

It’s -14 degrees Thursday morning January 20th. Wish I was there. I’d buy a home. Rent is similar to that in Duluth in the better apartments. Your cameraman did a fine job of taping you folks, but we never really saw much of the apartment. It looks like a typical 2 bedroom from what I could make out.
@jeanettea123452 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated to give us (seniors) a 'heads up' as to what is available. STILL, my concern with renting an apt is that the rent usually goes up each year and seniors on a fixed income can't afford it. Also no utilities covered. Hhmmmmm! It's unfortunate what rent is today for everyone who has to rent. In earlier years the goal was to buy and if you couldn't afford to do that at least you could rent-not so today. Good video though-all lovely people. Thanks for sharing.
