Vince Gill is at the top of his game. He recently completed a 4-night run at the Ryman where he played a three-and-a-half hour show each night, still singing & playing the songs in the same keys, or higher. Gill is some kind of superhero, as artists half his age could barely do this. Today we sit down with Vince, as he shares stories about some of his favorite guitars and a life steeped in music.

Im not American and discovered Vince Gill late in my life. It makes me so happy to be a fan of such a fine modest Gentleman. About singing: He sings better than ever. Quity amazing. Look and learn kids. Forget attitude and style, learn your craft, be a good person, and keep you feets to the ground. So great to watch this. Good job Zak, you are a master in interviews and good old conversation 👍👍❤️

Vince Gill was one of my mother's favorites, and she turned me on to him. He's not only a great singer and killer guitar player, he's a complete gentleman and humble human being. That's not easy to do when you have the kind of success he has had. Vince is one of a kind.

Zac is a walking encyclopedia on everything relating to country musicians - songs, gear, licks, who played on what. Long after an artist has forgotten a detail about something, Zac will fill it in for him because he read an article 30 years ago and remembers every bit of it.

Zac, I cannot express in words how much I enjoyed that. I’m a huge Vince Gill fan and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend ninety minutes. This felt less like an interview and more like two good friends having a chat. Vince has always been generous with his time and I’ve seen him interviewed many times. This was by far the best one I’ve seen. Vince has a great sense of humor and a huge heart. I loved the way he spoke with pride about how he paid his band. The overriding factor with Vince is that at the end of the day, nothing matters more than the music. Thank you, Zac. You have a great channel that I really enjoy even though I can’t play a lick of guitar.

Love Vince! I also learn something from every story, every interview! My very first guitar amp I bought 1 day before my very first gig, in 1969. There was a "swap sheet" at the local grocery store, I got the number for a "fender amp", and I really needed it. When I got there, it was a Silver Face Twin W/JBLs!!! I was going to play rhythm in a country rock band!! What a huge surprise I got!! LOL And Vince is 100% right, those things are like carrying a big anvil around!! My back, to this day, still hurts!! Peace --gary

Thanks Zac for this great interview with VG. Listening to Gill's guitar bends back in the day opened a world of possibilities for me, as I found there connective tissue between my 1970's trombone playing in school band and what can be done with bending and sliding notes on Telecaster. Also, through Vince Gill's unique style, I was able to better decode Terry Kath's melodic voice/horn-like guitar magic.

Vince disparages the songs he wrote for Pure Prairie League, but I loved "I'm Almost Ready" and "I'll be Damned." I covered Almost Ready in a couple of bands and it was always fun to play. "I'll be Damned" made me want to learn country guitar. I guess when you can reach a higher standard, you get to look down on stuff that most people would be proud to be associated with. BTW: I got to see PPL with Vince and his red 335. His extended guitar solo remains a highlight of my concert experiences.
