i really loved Charles' work, I still do to this day,, but gotta be glad he's not entirely gone, though!! he's taken a new role as the Mario ambassador, going around the world, meeting fans and bringing the joy of Mario with people (as stated on the announcement by Nintendo)

It needed correcting. You can't put a comma there. Those are two independent clauses. You cannot connect them using a comma. You can use a period or a semicolon. If you used an ellipsis you'd end up changing the meaning .... Using a period is fine, but to emphasise the connection between the two clauses, use a semicolon. @@ohbrother5095

I haven't heard anything about him retiring. Nintendo seemed to have tried to make it sound like he was. Probably to prevent the wrath of angry fans on the internet. They don't want people to stop buying their games.

This was awesome. Super Mario is my favourite series of all time and Charles does a great job at voicing Mario and crew. To think I was at most 9 or 10 when I first heard him as Mario in Mario 64 and he’s still voicing him today in new games I’m enjoying at 37. I’d love to meet him one day.

This actually hits harder now for me because Charles Martinet voice of Mario has inspired me for years and was one of the reasons why i love Nintendo i have a lot of mario things and somehow he was my idol in a way that it makes me even more happier then i am today listening to his voice really makes me happy no matter where Charles goes i'll still love his Mario luigi and Wario voices until the end!

I remember first watching an interview of Charles Martinet telling this story several years ago on a KZbin video. I always found this story of his wholesome. It’s unfortunate that he’s no longer the voice of Mario but I will always adore and appreciate his voice of Mario and the other various characters throughout my childhood and into my young adulthood. I’m still amazed to this day that he also voiced Paarthurnax from the Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, he has such wonderful voice range.

my favorite charles martinet story is also my favorite miyamoto story. basically, mario 64 was the only time charles went to japan to record the voicelines, and he, among other annoying but ultimately harmless behaviors, wouldn’t stop doing the mario voice around the nintendo offices. when it came time to record the damage sound, charles kept making it sound too cartoony, and so miyamoto went into the booth, walked up to charles, and PUNCHED HIM IN THE GUT MID-TAKE! and the best part is, that take was actually what was used in-game!

And the funny thing? At the time (1994], they were just looking for someone to voice a real-time 3D Mario at the video game trade shows. He was just so good that they made him _the_ voice of Mario. Everything from _Mario's FUNdamentals_ (PC CD-ROM version) to _Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope_ has Martinet's magic in it. Absolutely. Legendary.
