I was one of those kids that was crushed when Prime died in the movie. As a child enduring physical and emotional abuse at home from my biological father I had latched onto Optimus as a role model. To this day, as a dad now myself I have always tried to emulate that "strong enough to be gentle" attitude modeled by Peter's voicing of my childhood hero. Peter, Frank, thank you so much for being a part of our childhoods. We love you both.

It might have been a shock that their characters were being killed off in '86, but Peter and Frank did such a beautiful job with the voices in the movie. Deep, emotional stuff we hadn't really heard from those characters up to that point. The voice acting in TFTM '86 is honestly still a cut above so many contemporary animated films.

Without Peter Cullen and Optimus Prime, I don’t think I’d be here today. Optimus Prime was the father figure I never had as a kid in the mid-80’s, a shining light of hope in some dark days at the hands of my father. Prime as a character is one thing, but the warmth, gentle strength, and humility of Peter Cullen’s voice makes Prime what he is. I can’t thank Peter enough for simply being there when the 6 year old me needed a hero. I wish I could thank him personally. Til’ all are one. Here’s to the next 40 years.

To think Peter Cullen and Frank Welker started working together at Ruby-Spears on Mighty Man & Yukk in 1979. Boy, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears had no idea what an animation voice-over gold mine they had with Peter and Frank, because they would become animation voice-over's go-to men in the 1980's!!!

I still remember sitting in the theater in 86. First showing. The amount of kids and angry parents that day was ridiculous. Still can't watch that scene without getting emotional. A lot of people have said that Optimus was a father figure for them, but even at his most despicable Megatron was endearing.

I don't want to be too dramatic, but I've gone through some unwelcome changes as an adult, yet I've been able to depend on The Transformers to be my constant. It's almost funny to say that because the franchise is always changing and evolving, but the core concepts remain the same, and it can be interesting to see how those concepts are expressed by every new work.

Definitely legends! Frank Welker is lucky in the fact that he made two characters famous, Megatron and Soundwave in Transformers and Fred Jones in Scooby Doo. If you don't know one, you know the other. Peter Cullen certainly deserved that Lifetime Achievement Award he got and it's sad that he won't be coming back as Optimus Prime in future media, but let me tell you something, he has one of the most iconic voices of all time. The first time I heard it, wasn't even Transformers, he was narrating a National Geographic dinosaur documentary, and I only learned he was Optimus and Ironhide much later.

After hearing Welker return to the role of Megatron and noticing a difference to how he sounded in the 80's cartoon I thought ok Welker is a voice legend and maybe the original voice was lost to time among the hundreds he's done before. Then he brought him back for this video exactly as I remember him sounding. Truly amazing, I'm sorry I doubted.

I recall impersonating some of the Autobots with my friends in elementary school. I think we used a giant snowbank to mimic Lookout Mountain from the movie. It’s been great to see the franchise make such a huge comeback in the last decade. Now I have kids and get them the toys to help build their memories. These two voice actors helped me to form certain values, which is priceless.

The LEGENDS, no matter how talented many other who have step up for the roles from amazing talents like David Kaye, Ron Pearlman, Corey Burton, Garry Chalk, and more recently Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry all amazing talent that did fantastic works with Optimus and Megatron, no matter what when ever I see these characters the only voices I will always imagine first will forever be Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, there is no replace for PERFECTION, I have such an respect and admiration for both of you sirs, Optimus is almost a father figure for me in some ways, always remind me of my own dad, wise, stern, brave and always you can count of him when you need it the most, can't thank you both for all the inspiration you have been for me my entire life from a little kid to and adult, respect.

Let's all enjoy Peter and Frank, while they're still with us. They followed Don Messick and John Stephenson, who were animation's go-to guys in the 1970's and preceded Jim Cummings and Rob Paulsen, who were the animation's top go-to guys in the 1990's!!!

To be honest when I was a kid Optimus prime was my role model he was the one that taught me what true strength really is and how to be a better person so thank you Peter Cullen for being my generations hero 😊 God bless you guys til all are one !

Proud fan of Transformers since Gen1 I was 6 years old when it came out, and my first Transformer toy was Soundwave. Carried him everywhere I went. I doubt Frank and Peter will see this, but thank you for so many years of memories. And giving voice to two of the most iconic characters ever. And also all your other roles, you two voiced my childhood.
