I’ve driven 1.2 million miles in VW diesels. I wish they still made them available in US. I’ll be getting an ID4 since it will get double the MPG, less maintenance. Battery life will be a key issue for me since I will drive it into the ground. My diesels ran 405k, 355k and 350k miles with newest one at 142k. I test drove the ID4 and liked it a lot. Turning radius is great and the three years of free charging saves a lot of money, which didn’t get mentioned in the video.
@bronxcardsfan65383 жыл бұрын
@Comeon Useyourbrainagain Includednin the price is three free years if fast charging at charging stations at Electrify America, there are not a lot of stations at this point but they are creating more of them. Unfortunately there is not one close to me so that is a factor in deciding which vehicle to buy. If it’s close to you it’s definitely a factor in the price point.
@C4H6As3 жыл бұрын
You won´t run the ID4 into the ground, because development is that fast, you will want get a new model with much more range and better electronics soon when it becomes available. The Diesels where perfect many years, from a certain point there was no more groundbreaking development. Just trouble with exhaust. My AUDI A6 is from 2004 and I still love to drive it. Range 1200km gives your real freedom on the road. I will switch to electric when real world range exceeds 600km. Maybe 2..5 years from now.

Comfort is the main reason why I went with an ID.4 over Mach-E or Model Y. This car just glides along the road and there's no harshness over road imperfections, while still not feeling floaty. It won't be as quick around a racetrack as the others, but for daily use, it's superb. The seats and sound insulation are excellent as well. Infotainment system takes some time getting used to and I hate the touch sensitive controls. Give me real buttons, please!

It has no range, it has no power, it has no over the air up grade, with major software issues. It is not selling, also because the recharging stations are very rare to find and are too few. how can you say the car to be comfortable when you cannot go in a rush anywhere, afraid to drain the too modest battery output. Comfortable? At least they made a decent seat for you? Come on drop the BS the car is a gigantic flop and even VW knows because they aren't selling while Tesla entire production is totally sold out for the next 2 months. That will tell you something.

What a shame you never drove a Tesla model 3. It has been a very serious error from your part. Drove them both, and the Tesla is the Ambrosia on wheels while the ID4 has so many short comings that only a very inexpert shopper would go for it., Probably you are very young and on your first new car, and I can understand that probably you succumbed to a VW salesman BS and pressure. But we all do mistakes, I am sure on your next car you will be able to discern what is best for you, for to damp your hard earned money on a golf cart powered car with comfortable seats, is an absolute shame. Have VW already taken care of the software problems that have so far afflicted your car yet? Were you informed by the salesman that both the 3 and the 4 were very prone to suffer from this software recurring problems ?

It may not be 0-60 in 3 seconds but I'm still easily able to pass at 60mph in several seconds which is a huge improvement over the ICE vehicle I had prior. No more motor drone and it's dead quiet at 85mph on the interstate. superbly well assembled and the most comfortable seats in the biz. Even the sound system was a step up. Nice review. Great EV. Tried a Tesla Y (loved it, but quite a bit more $), Kona EV (no rear leg room), Mach E and Bolt (too small). Got the iv4 mostly due to rear leg room (for kids), overall price out door, overall size, ground clearance of 8in and the fact the usa dealer did a bit under manufacturers msrp and the leasing arm was willing to credit the whole 7500 federal tax credit at signing to lease capital costs (ford won't for mach e and tesla/gm no longer qualify). With Tesla tweeting they will open up charge network to everyone will increase spots to use its max of 124kw fast charging when needed (98% at home for me thou). Nice family hauler leased auto. @@sat7755 problem is that the internet is rife with Tesla's that have quality control issues. Getting problems fixed with the hardware is what I'm getting at, and that's where the customer service element is lacking. Tesla deserves credit for getting the ball rolling, but I don't see how they'll be able to maintain their market dominance when all the other major auto makers start weighing in with their own options. Just look at VW'S I.D. R and the record setting performance it has had at Pikes Peak and the Nurburgring to get an idea of the potential that VW is capable of. I have a feeling that the position that Tesla could be in is similar to De Havilland in Britain was during the post-world war two era. They brought the world's first commercial jetliner to market, which was a revolutionary step forward in design. However, not all the bugs were worked out of the design, and after some high profile crashes, they were forced to suspend flights until they figured out what the problem was. In the meantime, Boeing brought their 707 to market and the rest is history.

Tesla regional manager took the car back took care of the problem, and the two days needed this friend of mine drove a rental paid by Tesla. No one else had problems, most of those with alleged problems in internet, are false. The obvious reason is very simple, Tesla are so far ahead of every other traditional auto firms and their cost per car is so much lower than all of them that are putting a lot of pressure even to VW. Let us face it every single EV made in Germany turned out to be a major sales flop, and their number of sales combined are very far from Tesla numbers. There is a very strong reason why they are not selling, and to put it very honestly and bluntly, they are all over Priced, grossly under powered, very far from the advertised range, and over Rated by their paid promotional barrage, thus living prospective customers very disappointed. Now do yourself a favor get a test drive or rent if you can find one a basic Tesla Model 3, do the same with a top of the line VW or Audi EV Then let me know how you feel, I mean there is no argument, there is no comparison, so far Tesla has non meaningful competition.
