I'm a new ID.4 Pro S owner. I'm really enjoying it. Agree with all the positive comments shared by others. I really like the new infotainment system. Takes time to learn, but what's the hurry? My little gripes are different. $57,000 sticker car with no garage door opener and no 360 degree camera? But that's VW/Audi for you! Oh, you can get the 360 camera in the ID.4 Pro S Plus model. The problem? It's not on the website and they don't seem to have any for sale...if they even exist. C'mon VW/Audi...it's time to stop being so cheap. These are no-brainers.

I'm about a year in on my 2023 Pro S lease, and I'm still really enjoying it. The infotainment system does need additional improvements but if youre an Android Auto user it doesn't matter all that much. I'd definitely recommend the Pro S version though for the range - I get about 200 miles on an 80% charge, and 100% charge at 250-270 miles, which has been plenty when I have to commute (rarely, thankfully). If there arent major battery improvements by the time my lease is up in 2026, Ill likely buy out the rest and keep it.

I'm impressed by the improvements they made. Does it have heads up display? I'm also really amused that people are so annoyed by not having 4 window switches. In the grand scheme of things, it's such a non-issue. When do you ever need to put down all four windows at the same time? And how often do you go to lower your front driver window and end up lowering the back window instead by mistake?
@EVPulse
@EVPulse 7 ай бұрын
It’s a non-issue for some. Other people it’s a daily occurrence. But even if it’s not something that happens often, why make the change? Was there something wrong with four window switches? In Europe you can get it with HUD but not an option in North America. I've been hoping they will bring it for 2025 as well as the 86kWh battery that is available in the ID.7. Unfortunately the initial info I've read is that they are not planning any changes for 25! I hope this is wrong and they are just keeping details close as VW needs to stay competitive with a refreshed Ionq5 , EV6 and other new entrants from Chevy etc.

I agree however my ID4 Pro S RWD does something funky when you switch between the front window and rear window up function. They are one press auto up but when I switch between rear and front and perform that up function the river side window actually moves down about 8-10 inches. Very odd. Well, is the 4 button a show stopper? No, not for me but I could use the four buttons though. It does not have a heads up display. I wish it would but I am rather tall and probably would not be in the proper position (too low) as many HUD's from other car manufactures are. One thing I would like to have in my 2024 is the key fob all windows up function. My VW CC had that and my golf TDI as well (Although the Golf with key in the door). I really liked that function on those cars.

While I don’t think one should be hyper focused on EV range, my exactly 1 year old Model 3 RWD range has dropped from 273 to 263 miles. I honestly can't understand the fuzz about the rear window switches - all the reviewers seem to have an itch over those. I don't remember the last time I needed to operate the rear windows as the driver. If the windows need to be opened or shut it is because for someone in the rear seat - and he/she can quite well operate the windows by him/herself. And BTW no one seems to mention that if you push the selector longer then you can operate all the windows simultaneously - not that I find that particularly important either.

Also take it over Ariya due to bigger cargo space, i would also take it over a Mach e due to ride comfort and pricing. I would take it over EV6 and Ioniq 5 or 6 due to ride height and ground clearance. Overall its a more balanced vehicle with a better value and price than many others in this segment. And the led lens, headlights and tail lights with light up logo at front and rear with light bars makes this car more unique than many EVs especially those ugly Model Ys😂. The weakest point is the "ID system" for media controls and VW's nav (which isn't great), but if you use Android Auto or Car Play, you won't be using the ID system much. Plus, they gave me a ridiculous deal on mine, which includes 3 years' free charging at EA stations. I'd love the bigger HP in the '24, but the '23 dual motor is every bit as quick as my old car - a '21 Jetta GLI. That's plenty quick enough.

I have a 23 ID.4 AWD ProS and a Lightning. Previously had a Model 3 and Model Y at different times. Honestly, despite these updates... avoid it like crazy. It's very comfortable and quiet, great build quality... more than either Tesla ever was (pre-update to M3). So many quirks... windshield has glass that looks warped and will give you motion sickness. Terrible infotainment. I knew this going in and didnt think I'd mind using CarPlay usually but you'll need to use it occassionally and its awful. Car turns off the second it senses you leave the driver seat. Good luck keeping climate control on for your partner, kids, pet, etc. while you run inside for an errand. Depreciation is off the charts - worse car i've had in that aspect. Tires are 2 sizes and cost a fortune. Brakes squeak like they are going out, VW service tells me they dont have ceramic pre EPA restrictions on VW and there is no factory service remedy. Weird. Could go on and on, just dont.

Heat pump, fold flat seats, and physical buttons! You aren't selling an minimalist art display, you're selling a vehicle that people will use and abuse.

I get the ask for physical buttons, but I have the impression that those are gone forever, look at Tesla, they do have no buttons, everything is on this touch display in the middle of the console. For me, the mix of touch display and touch buttons is a good alternative, but it is just me.

@@cmdrstevemcmaru7417 agreed The touch display is nice for many things, but keeping the basic HVAC and other commonly used controls real buttons is so much better imo. I've been driving a relative's Tesla for the last two weeks, and I really wish it had some real buttons.

All well and good. One of the biggest reasons why people, in general, are not purchasing EVs is due to the high price, yet EV reviews here on KZbin keep pushing at us the highest priced model. Can you focus on the reasonably priced model rather than the ridiculously higher priced models with all the superfluous extras.
@EVPulse
@EVPulse 7 ай бұрын
We don't intentionally push you to the highest priced model. Review vehicles are supplied by the manufacturer (this is common industry practice, there's only like one publication that can afford to and then actually purchase every vehicle it reviews), and manufacturers will typically put higher-spec'd models in the media fleets. Sometimes there'll be a mid-grade or volume model made available, but it's not the norm. This is the same for magazine, print, and website reviews along with KZbin. The advantage to many of these EVs is being techy-focused to begin with, even the entry-level models have a lot of standard features, which Craig mentions is a good deal in his conclusions at the end of the video.

@@EVPulse I understand, but it’s really not helping to generate needed sales. They obviously want people to purchase their higher priced models forcing them Into an unaffordable debt. That is so often the case, especially when you see so many repose from buyers who purchase beyond what they afford by crafty sales staff.

@@kelalamusic9258 As someone who purchased this car in the trim that I wanted, based on what I could afford, there's a responsibility on the buyer. I did my research about what features I wanted in an EV and cross-checked my list with the models. We have little computers in our pockets, you can even do it at the dealership! I'm a woman and it still didn't take a lot for me to be firm on the trim I wanted. If a salesperson is trying to get you in a vehicle you don't want, switch salespeople or go to a different dealership.

@@bojan80 At 40K too expensive. The US market has made us all desensitize to the price of cars. Even after incentive, which are likely to go away, the car is still out of my reach and I think what most people can reasonably afford. VW is struggling to sell in EU for the same reason - too high. The difference is at least EU has the benefit of China options - US is stuck with highest price vehicles.

@@cmdrstevemcmaru7417 I work with them all day and they’re garbage. Nobody who goes to get trained for certifications on them ever wants to touch them. They’re too heavy and get flats all the time too and they’re impossible to move when broken down. Also the driving experience is terrible and the range on one is incredibly low. They say for id4’s not to charge the battery to 100% but only to 80% or else the longevity of the battery will be at stake. They do that while advertising the miles per charge based on 100% charge. They depreciate like crazy and drive people’s energy bills up, and most importantly I’ve never met someone who owned one who actually liked it. It’s not a senseless comment it’s just a bad car

@@loafs1656 Your unbelievably biased and it sounds like you just don't like ev's. For one, EVERY manufacturer who uses the battery type in the id4 says to charge to 80% for longevity purposes but gives a range to 100%. Shit if you want to charge to 100% all the time knock yourself out. All ev's depreciate like crazy and they ALWAYS WILL. Its the nature of technology particularly with battery tech always changing. As for driving your bills up, I have a chevy bolt and yes it drives up your electric bill but hey! your not paying for gas! and if you look at gas costs vs electric costs its cheaper to charge your ev even if its more often then it is to run your gas car especially if you drive alot. Overall, keep your opinion to yourself and if you dont like ev's dont work on them and don't watch videos on them.

@@Shotgunanybody you sir should keep your opinions to yourself😂. And you shouldn’t say things that aren’t true. Gas is still cheaper now than an electric bill with an ev. It also takes 3 minutes and not 12 hours😂. I don’t care if you like the id4 or whatever but everyone I know with one regrets it unless they’re under a 1 year lease. Most importantly I’m talking about problems with the car, you’re talking about your feelings which if you love the car ignore me. People who are on the fence should know what it means to own an ev before they buy one and that’s the cause of their regret
@tomheim9516

@@loafs1656 And you sir, shouldn’t say things that aren’t true. It is less expensive to charge an EV than to buy gasoline for the same distance travelled. And the three minutes to fill a gas tank is done at a pump, not at home. No one spends 12 hours at a public charge station, more like 20-30 minutes which gets you plenty of range to get gome and charge overnight. When that 12 hours you’re complaining about is spent sleeping. You’re clearly biased against all EVs.
