He gave Volo the triangle face shape just like Sephiroth! Apparently using sharp shapes when designing evil characters and rounded shapes when designing good characters is a design choice used to make characters feel more edgy or soft respectively.

@@A-Microwave it’s true that Marth’s head was drawn as a triangle in “Something About Subspace Emissary” and previous videos although it was changed into a pentagon by the “All Smash Bros Ultimate Characters Drawn in the TerminalMontage Style” video. Obviously there’s no way I could know why why TM chose the triangle design for Marth, but if I had to speculate it would be that even though Marth has a kindhearted personality he is a hardened warrior and skilled swordsman, and while triangles can be used to convey evil they can also simply convey that the character is sharp or tough, or has been through a lot. That’s my guess anyways.

I beat Volo the first try. I spent a lot of time prior to this match wandering around Hisui battling and catching wild and Alpha Pokemon, and was Rank 8 with a team of level 80+. Also had to revive a few times, but it can be done. Not trying to sound like a braggart, and it wasn't a cakewalk, but it was also nice to have a genuinely challenging battle in this game.
