Love, love, love this shawl. I’ve been crocheting lots of shawls for Prayer ministry, with 2 knitted ones thrown in … time to change things up and do another knitted one, and this will be it ❤️❤️

Thanks once again. I love your videos. They are always so concise. I had a similiar pattern that I had purchased years ago called Hitchhiker to the Galaxy. Having knitted and crocheted for over 60 years I have collected so many paid patterns but I have changed computers, moved things on to external hard drives, etc. and it never fails that I can't find the pattern that I want when I want it. Your tutorial saved me many hours of hunting and frustration. Thank you, thank you, thank.

This pattern is a gem....fast and easy to memorize! I'm on my third shawl. Regarding the sawtooth edging, I've tried 3 to 6 stitches and 4 or 5 are my preferences, depending on the weight of the yarn.

I have been knitting for several years in the same style as you knit. I learned from a KZbin video. I consider myself an advanced beginner. I am currently crocheting your drsgon wing shawl, and l love the pattern! I was searching for an easy yet elegant asymmetrical shawl to knit that started at the point. The videos l watched had me lost at the beginning. I was browsing your videos and was blessed to find this pattern that ticked all the boxes! I was familiar with every stitch. Oh, happy day! And thank you so very much! ❤

Thank you for your patience and teaching. I'm now knitting your diagonal scarf and can't wait to this vortex shawl. I do have a tip 😋...I unwind my skeen with the thumb elbow method before knitting and then soak the yarn in fabric softner for a bit, dry it and then knit. I do find that the yarn just glides though my fingers and create a true stitch.

I'm working on this vortex and it's really easy. Just in case anyone is curious as to what the top length would be, I measure 62" (60" is 5 ft) from fingertip to fingertip. I measured my husband's and his is 63-1/2". I'm sure some will need it to be longer. Just giving viewers an idea. I'm loving this so far. I've done about 40", so, I'm getting there. Thanks for another great video!!

Hey Fiber Spider! This is a great pattern to switch from crochet for a break! I have made 6 virus shawls in the last 5 weeks and I am ready to pick up my needles for a change! This pattern is good in that you don't have to think about it much and is simple to remember. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Thank you so much for the many tutorials you do for us throughout the year, I thoroughly enjoy every one of them. Hoping 2018 will be a great year for you and the yarnivores and spiderettes that follow you!! :-D

Maybe you want to mix yarn textures and weights or to use a yarn that has thick and thin, if you find this pattern too simple looking. This is a good project for that. And adding this warning, this pattern has the hard part front loaded and once you have made 3 teeth, then following the pattern gets very easy. I also did my bind offs (for the teeth) differently. I knitted all the stitches I was going to bind off, checked the tension of those stiches (adjusted those if needed), then pushed all but two stitches back onto the needle holding the old row, bound off one stitch by pushing one loop over the other loop and then off the needle (this done on the the new row needke), then moved one stitch onto the needle holding the new row, bound off one stitch, and continued until I had bound off all the stitches. If you are going to use yarn that goes thin and thick or use mixed texture and weights of yarn, you might have to adjust the count to get good looking teeth. Yeah my teeth look good but maybe do not count the bind offs in each tooth. I actually played with this pattern and had different size teeth, and that looks great too., I did an extra turn the work to make stripes (so front side look and back side look alternate each having one tooth) and I used a fancy stitch pattern I already knew, so this pattern should not be looked at as not only for simple stitch patterns and not only for beginners. Excellent shawl pattern for being able to stop when one runs out of yarn. Experienced knitters should look at this simple easy pattern as a beginning point and not ignore this shawl as too boring and not challenging enough, and should swatch a stitch pattern and make the shawl more interesting (if that appeals to you). And newer knitters should not be scared out of using this pattern by what I just typed. You as a newer knitter can do this shawl in the garter stich and then do the shawl again. This shawl pattern begs to be done in a variegated yarn and a sold color, so maybe add a solid color to a color cake or use your favorite variegated yarn color and a solid color that matches or coordinates with the other yarn. (Only be wary of putting in an almost matching solid yarn with a color of a variegated yarn, because this can look, really bad or really great.) And picking this pattern,, you will have learned a pattern you want to use again which is not true of every beginner project pattern.

Fiber spider i love this, but you did not stress enough how that inner upper edge of this shawl being a curve is going going to stay put on the body better than a triangle scarf and better than other similar looking shawls. And you did stress enough how an experienced or brave knitter can adapt this simple 'boring' pattern into something more dramatic looking. And great tutorial showing how the stitches are worked.

Morning Spider. I really hope that you had A wonderful Christmas. Thank you for this tutorial. It is on my new years resolutions list to learn how to knit and this is going to make A perfect first project. I think that I will start on it this evening after my traditional Boxing Day canal cycle ride. I don't have Caron Cakes to work with (too expensive here in the UK.) I am thinking of using 'I Love This Yarn' I have several skiens in variegated that up to now I didn't know what to do with. As always sending you love from across the pond. Xx

I don't recall the exact number unfortunately. Either until your project is "big enough" or you run out of yarn. If the size is difficult to gauge being bunched up on your needles, you can always take it off using a lifeline.

I have a question this is beautiful shawl I just love it but Row 2 you say K1,1yo,K remaining for 1 st of the 6 rows then after the bind off For Row 4 you say K 1 ,yo, k remaining stitches but you didn’t say that in row 4 before or did I just have it wrong maybe I do. I’m a beginner knitter yo are a good teacher I’m leaning to bind off which I was worried about ❤️

I want to add one comment. If i am using different colors or textures, then I measure with my knitting needle or eyeball it. A color cakled anemone runs from deep red to lightish pink and I made the teeth or notches as i call them uniformly growing bigger in size as the scarf-shawl gets bigger.
