I’ve been listening to this entire playlist and so far I think it’s a bunch of Warhammer players who got sick of GW and decided to make their own version of the universe, but more in line with a Robert E Howard influence. This is pretty sweet.

I was a player who finally had enough with GW and switched to Conquest. The game is awesome. The amount of customization for your army is quite a breath of fresh air. They have a new update coming out in a couple weeks or so, that will add even more to the game. Best of all it is free on their website. No more $40+ book after book after book for me.

A big part of it is the Conquest world is basically the Warhammer Fantasy world if it wasn’t dumb. The Warhammer world was so similar to real life Earth that it was actually sometimes kind of lame or cringey. Eä meanwhile does have its Viking analogues in the North, their HRE+France in the center-west, and their Byzantines and Greeks in the south-East, but the world and its factions aren’t simply “[real life culture], but fantasy” and the setting is richer for it.

Am I the only one who thinks "Heroes of Might and Magic" instead of 40K when reading/hearing these Conquest Race lores ? Also I am not saying it is in any way a bad thing. Hell, I think there need to be more fantasy world building lore that taking similar road as "Might and Magic".

Conquest isn't really my style. There's a lot of pretty generic low fantasy stuff and that's not my thing. I'm currently trying to make a monster girl Slaanesh army, and they don't really have much in the way of monsters or girls for me to use. I like that they have female orcs, albeit only one set of three. I do kinda like The Spire, and I'll be paying attention for the Old Dominion faction next year.

This setting isn’t even low fantasy man, what do you think low fantasy is? Could you possibly share the plethora of stuff you find generic instead of talking about your “ unrelated monster girl army”. High Fantasy will always be a little generic, but Conquest is far from generic, it’s obvious they went to great lengths when creating the setting to not be like every other fantasy settings and truly have their own thing. Compared to WHF, possibly one of the most generic and cliché fantasy settings ever and WH40K which is essentially a high fantasy setting riddled with generics, cliches, tropes, and repackaged ideas from multiple other IPs.
