I do enjoy your stompy walks Gareth; you're not afraid to clamber and/or get your feet wet, literally, lol. Phil's knowledge is amazing; an excellent companion on these occasions. I hope you'll stay up to date with that old station building as it gets restored, and take us back sometimes.

Great to see one of the best views of the Amber Valley The South Wingfield station was designed by railway architect Francis Thompson. I think a small part of the original Belper railway buildings by him still exists. Now split into 3 houses on Goods Road hidden within the industrial estate. It has the same style roof. The Orangery (Bookcafe) looks very similar to the original Italianate Belper station - maybe there is an influence? Also lots of buildings around Derby station designed by Thompson still remain.

@@IckeWalks I would love to know if Brettles nabbed the bricks for his Orangery building when the original station was dismantled. They buildings are not exactly the same design but some striking similarities. Not sure if dates allow it but it was nice to think there is a homage to a long lost Thompson building hidden within plain sight.

If you,d have carried on over the stream at the end and walked further up the tramway you'd have reached the Colliery where a shaft has opened up due to it just being infilled and covered with railway Sleepers. My Grand parents owned the land on which Waterloo Colliery was located
