Negan would have never let him live. He knew when somebody was challenging him just by seeing their body language, Abraham was not afraid of him or the situation at all. He would have killed him right when he had the chance, that’s why he probably got picked.

I miss Abraham! He was a really cool guy. In my opinion he was in the same ranks as Darls brother Merl. I also liked he was originally an army man before the world fell apart. If I had WD done my way I would of kept Abraham into season 8.

The main reason they killed him off (imo) is because he would have stolen Rick's spotlight in sizing up with Negan etc. Plus he was way to strong to keep around. The group needs to appear weak compared to Negan and the saviours. Although I will admit, I cared a lot more about Abraham's death thanGlenn's.
