Eugene's mission is the single thing that saved Abraham and made Abe feel like he had a REASON to go on. Like his life meant something once again.
@DanReadd Жыл бұрын
I agree with you! I guess the argument is, could Eugene have saved him in a different way? Would Abraham have pulled the trigger? The fact that we have to speculate about this is pretty dangerous, so oddly I’m thankful Eugene showed up, and lied the way he did. Ofc I’m not happy with the act of manipulating the group in itself, but the act has such a deeper meaning than surface value. I empathise with both Eugene, and Abraham… and pray we move forward in a positive direction. Sometimes coincidence can be good and/or bad… I’m just grateful we’ve ended up with the opportunity to see it as good.

@@DanReadd it's a serious risk and can backfire in a BIG WAY, but for a guy with 0 survival skills in this world and a talent for bullshit... it's a risk worth taking.

Yeah, except it was all a lie.

I feel Abrahams family never saw this violent side to him until after the world fell and it scared the hell out of them, because while I don’t believe they showed how many guys he took out I think it was like at least 3 with just a can of food. So yeah pretty terrifying imo
@DanReadd Жыл бұрын
Yeah just that beating scene alone was crazy dark. It’s amazing how a few seconds can do that! Imagine the family having to experience it all… as you say it was definitely at least 3 people.

Abraham and his family were sheltering in the grocery store, those people came in with violence towards them and Abraham brutally killed them.... scaring his wife, so she took off and got herself and her kids killed. Abraham just had nothing left to live for and wanted to die along side of his family... but Eugene showed up with an important mission to save the world and Abraham had found a reason to live, a new important mission.... it distracted him from his grief and he had purpose... until that was also pulled out from under him sending him right back to his grief.
@DanReadd Жыл бұрын
That’s the saddest thing about this… Eugene made a horrible decision. BUT, it kept Abraham alive. Maybe there was another way?! Maybe there wasn’t. Who knows. This is such a conflicting episode it’s crazy. Immediately I wanted to empathise with both of them. Both of them deserve better 🥺
@korivex742 Жыл бұрын
@@DanReadd Eugene did what he had to do to survive, just like the rest of the group, it is just his way was different, it was all he had. Abraham believed Eugene because he wanted to.... they are both survivors and sometimes surviving involves killing, sometimes lying and sometimes just being useful to someone.

That end scene: with the music, the close-ups, the build-up through the episode, the solid acting from Michael Cudlitz - it just crushes me every time, even though I know what's coming. My breathing becomes laboured as I try, and fail, to choke back the tears - but they MUST fall. And ANOTHER reason why I just love this show!

I knew you would sympathize with Eugene; Eugene's "mission" gave Abraham a reason to live. If he hadn't come up with that, Abraham probably would have walked away and killed himself, eventually.

Eugene lying both acted as a detriment to the group later on but early on it actually saved Abraham seeing as he was about to end his own life if Eugene didn't lie
@DanReadd Жыл бұрын
100 percent… I describe it as a coincidence with both pros and cons. Sometimes we deal with the cards we’re dealt, and sometimes we’re lucky to have some decent hands.

But Eugene didn’t lie to save Abraham therefore he doesn’t get the credit for it.
