The Walking Dead Comic Original Pitch to Image - Review

The Walking Dead is known worldwide as one of the most successful Zombie-related franchises. With multiple TV shows, video games, and more, it's sometimes hard to believe it started out as a humble creator-driven comic book project with a small team of two friends from grade school.
In this video I take a look at the 10th anniversary issue of The Walking Dead #1, which was a color version that featured the original pitch to Image comics, as well as an interview between creator Robert Kirkman and Image Comics publisher Eric Stephensen.
In addition to taking a look at the basic pitch / proposal, I discuss my thoughts on what ideas and changes contributed to the books meteoric success.

Always thought it was like a real shame that I never got into the walking Dead comic books. I mean I read the first couple of issues and I enjoyed them but the whole waking up in hospital thing just reminded me too of a day of the triffids and 24 days later plus I was already a little zombied out at that point, but I do regret being so swift to judge. I'm pretty sure I spent my money on animal man (new 52) actually? Or it might have been preacher.

My sort of grievance is that for a book that takes as much time as TWD does it’s a shame we didn’t get to observe the actual downfall of civilization, we just are introduced and it’s already over, but I get it because RK had to get to the pivotal moments fast to keep readers engaged. It’s TOTALLY worth a read-through, I think at this point it will be a book that has truly inspired many other works going forward. Vastly popular and influential despite the sort of cliches or similarities it might possess otherwise.

Serious wise I gave up about season 4 when I found out where they actually are and how long it's been apocalypse wise. I just found it a bit ridiculous but maybe it's like a cultural thing. Fear the walking Dead even worse cuz it took like 4 weeks for a society to completely collapse and we've seen that it doesn't. You know the people work together with recent events.
