The Walking Dead of Fable | The Undead | Full Fable Lore

The Undead of Albion are a never-ending, constant source of hardship to the residents of Albion. With the dead of one of its residents, there is always the chance that their body could be used as a vessell for the wisps that wander the land searching for a way to re-enter it, regardless of the damage they can do within.
In this lore episode, I explore the vast Undead in the Fable series and how they changed throughout the ages to become more violent and vicious to those wandering the land of Albion. Why did the undead change, are wisps intelligent, what holds these creatures to the living plane and is there a way to stop the undead from rising completely? I think the name change to "hollow men" was to make it more unique to fable. Simple undead could be used to describe say warcraft, might and magic, dnd, every zombies and so on. As far as i know hollow men is exclusive to fable and fits with albions other creatures the differs from more common variants such as balverines and hobbes

Which Fable had the best undead? Update: Ghosts were in Fable 1 but seemed to all be under cursed circumstances, therefore, making them separate from the theory? 😂

I prefer Hollow Men to Undead, feels more unique, but 1's undead were more of a threat I feel...excluding Sam & Max of course!

Somewhat unrelated what happen to bloodstone and Wraithmarsh in Fable 3 did the marshes disappear or corrupt more land since we don’t even go to those parts in fable 3, also in From fable 1-2 what happen to dark wood did it become part of wraith marsh as well, anyway Sorry it’s a long question hope to get an answer?

I can't speak for Fable 3. Don't know enough to make that call. However, we know Bloodstone is where Twinblade's camp originally was, and we know the Oakvale Bridge is seen in Wraithmarsh, and a fair way it at that. It is only reasonable that Darkwood would've expanded to encroach upon Oakvale. The high concentration of negative Will Energy in the area of the Chapel of Skorm (and later the Shadow Court) would've only been enhanced by the deal Reaver made to prolong his life in exchange for the lives of those in Oakvale, the concentration of this negative energy would cause more darkness in the area.

A problem I have with the theory is that there are more ghosts that appear in Fable 1 who appear to have you solve their unfulfilled needs. There’s the ghost pirate who asks you to uncover his treasure and return it to his wife, there’s the mother of Orchard Farm’s owner who wants you to get back a necklace from the bandit that killed her and give it to her son, and there’s Amanda Grey, who wants the truth behind her murder revealed. I did think the theory as a whole was interesting though.

I don't think this fully kills the theory. Just changes it. In the later games, Ghosts are able to change form into wisps to allow themselves to travel through places normal humans can't. In the first game, with Jack still alive, these ghosts can't do that. Otherwise Amanda's ghost would've left the cellar, and could've helped us to find the truth.

You did forget one very little known hollow man. In Fable 2, in Shelley Cave after purchasing the Graveyard Mansion, you come across a giant gem known as the stone of Mir'brigothil which the Largest of hollow man pleas with you to return it or they'll kill you. But there's no mention of who this mysterious talking hollow man is.

Theresa, like Scythe, is likely keeping herself alive using a great act of will with her legendary blood. Theresa also appeared to become more ethereal, especially in 3 where she has her own little spirit realm, which could be because her skills are keeping her mind alive while her body is beginning to fade. She dies in the kinect game, so... Eh... Also the grave could have been created by Theresa so they didn't question why she was still walking around, her old life as the sister of The Hero of Oakvale fading in time until she became The Seer. She mentions her brother but also appears to allow his memory to fade from her mind as in the Kinect game she rarely brings him up in her retelling of the fall of Jack.

I think they're just reduced to a primal form of aggression after years of loosing their humanity. Some may see that as evil, while others could say it is simply nature.

Wait... There are Undead in Darkwood? Apart from the Ancient Cullis gate I don't think I've seen one there. Just Bandits, Hobbes, A couple Nymphs, and a few Balverines (And Earth Trolls if you're a high enough level [Or the first quest through it] )

Some spawn during the final chase between Jack and The Hero, as I recall, and some could spawn randomly during a quest- I wouldn't be surprised.
