exactly haha most people watching the show for the first time felt just as conflicted as Rob & Trin are because.. yeah there really is something fundamentally wrong with Negan for obvious reasons but 1 he's funny as hell 2 he still has morals or a system and in comparison Simon is actually more psychotic in a way and 3 Rick and Negan are weirdly enough kinda similar to each other, I mean both did messed up shit so yeahhh 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ but afterall Negan still did do all these horrible things and technically still is the very same person like the one we've seen in the season 7 premiere with the only difference that we've got to know him better over the cause of the season. Kinda crazy what the writing or the show in general does to you as the watcher where you actually start questioning yourself 😂

This is another episode where stages are being set With Simon It’s pretty clear where he is headed in after what he did Poor Jadis though I feel like she not necessarily played both sides but she mainly tried to sit things out and now she’s alone And the worst part is Rick was finally even fed up with her and left her.

The first episode where we find out Negan... actually isn't really a bad guy, in his heart of hearts. This episode for me was one of the highlights of this season. Great episode, the start of proper character devellopment for Jadis too.

I agree with you on the Negan part, especially because we've got to know the character better in past episodes as well and we've kinda been peeling off these layers as Rob & Trin said but funny enough, If we take a step back and get into the general mindset of Rick who doesn't know Negan liked Carl and had huge respect for him it could also be seen as Negan really trying to manipulate him, I mean he still kinda does nontheless because he hit Rick with that „you should give up because it's your fault your child is dead and there's nothing left for you anyways etc.“ but we at least know that the first part of what Negan said was actually sincere and he honestly felt bad, they don't so I guess it's even understandable that Rick freaks out when Negan gets more on the sentimental side

I really enjoyed this part of Rick’s character, he really seems to be walking dead. Carl was probably the main reason (and he said it himself) he kept going forward and fighting for a better future, so now it’s almost like he is doing this stuff automatically, just because other people want it and depend on it A good example is when he is talking to Negan, every time he says he is gonna kill him, he sounds cold and he has a lost gaze. Only after Negan starts blaming him for Carl’s death his voice starts breaking a bit but he still has that lost gaze and keeps repeating that he will kill him. It’s really depressing to see him like this but at the same time he has really interesting and cool vibe

Fun fact the orange backpack seems to symbolize loss. Everytime it is shown a character has died ever since the man who was calling for help when Rick Carl and M found Morgan in s3 they didn’t help he died they took the bag and that loss follows them. That’s how I view it.

In many shows I've seen - when a character dies, it's sad, it makes for a big event, and then they seem to just disappear! As if they never were. Anyone who's lost someone close knows it is not like that. They stay with you forever. They revisit your thoughts, your conversations, your ideas, often at the most unpredictable moments in time. This show carries that idea and often turns it up to 11. Great reaction. I'm glad you're both still into it - I was confident from the outset you would be, which is why I look forward to your postings each week. As Abraham Ford once said - "A man can tell!"

The man said he was looking for his wife and child. The man was a leader even when he didn’t want to be. R&T haven’t heard the legend’s words yet. My grandma never leaves my thoughts. She was the best grandma. We both have a habit of losing things close by. “Oh I see says the blind man!” I’m genuinely scared to get a once a lifetime dog when I’m older. Negan did saved Rick and co by only choosing to kill Abraham, and then Glenn. It was within his right to kill them all for killing his people in their sleep. Those guys had their own families and friends who mourned them too.

Aye. Imagine choosing to kill only 2 people instead of all who murdered entire groups of your people. Rick's group has been a plague for every settlement or group and snowballed into a death storm everywhere they went. Everything and everyone was destroyed from the moment they laid eyes upon that said place/person. Negan's weakness was his understanding of human resources usefulness. While Rick's group (except Carol and Morgan) murdered without questioning.

I like to imagine that Negan's egging Rick was one of three things: Negan grieving Carl and blaming Rick, or Negan ( having lost someone he cared about and blaming himself) knew that what Rick needed to process his grief was someone to focus his emotions on. Or maybe he just thought that rage Rick would be sloppy and give Negan an edge. Because I genuinely like Negan I like to hope its the second thing. The whole exchange feels like Negan actually trying to give Rick something.

Negan is great because he's monstrous, but he is a monster because he's trying to save people and so he's not some cartoonish villain but a wonderfully complicated character. I mean look at the conversation. Negan was really sympathetic about Carl's death and was upset at the idea that he may have caused his death, but only after Rick got belligerent did Negan start returning bile in kind.

Negan’s philosophy is kind of like Rick’s attitude upon arriving at Alexandria Rick almost crossed the line there He was going to take that place and talked about how he wasn’t sure how many of them he had to kill to keep them all alive Negan thinks the Apocalypse calls for an iron fist He thinks by making an example of one or a few he’s keeping most of them in line and safe It’s not right but you can see how some people would go down that road.

@Rob & Trin React! I love that the season alway builds up to the mid and end season finales. You get to take a breath, regroup then they escalate to the finales. Its a virtual roller coaster. I truely felt sorry for Jadis. I even felt Negans compasion and empathy for Rick loosing Carl. There is another side of Negan we havent seen. It makes you wonder about him and how he came to solve issues the way he does. He isnt a terrible leader but his ways are questionable. What we dont take into account is that its a different world with different social expectations. We are using old morality as a scale of judgement. It doesnt apply anymore. We need to look at it from a different perspective. Till tomorrow. Tata🙋

Also from this episode you can kinda see that whatever Negan does he genuinely believes in his system and how that he is saving people so it is not some bullshit like the Governor he really thinks this is the way and that he is not evil that in this world he must kill some people so that others fall in line for the greater good of everyone now ofc not saying that is good but just saying this episode tells a lot about Negan I do wonder if Negan was our character from start would be see his system as system that has to be there because he also maybe had encounters with groups who wanted to kill them and saw lot of bad people and decided to change things the way Rick started good naive then almost got eaten killed lost wife best old friend and so on would be see Rick as someone who killed a bunch of his people while Negan took only 2 Maybe 1 If Daryl didn’t act who would be a bad guy for us if we watched Negan as main character He is really complex character that is why many like him there is so much to think in a way what if or compared to what Rick did how justified are Negan’s anyway we also know that Negan is an intelligent guy he knows how to break people so he knows how to read people but he is not really a liar like Governor he liked Carl and he truly believes that he is a good guy here.

I’m not sure if I’d consider Negan a good guy if I followed him from the start Cuz while Ricks group are flawed and went to very dark places just to survive The way the saviours are just can’t be justified at all. Bullying and forcing groups to provide supplies and using fear, intimidation etc to keep those in line isn’t an “essential” way to survive. It was clearly Negans own selfish way of doing thing because at that point he was egotistical and enjoyed the power, plus he has multiple wife’s, most of them pretty much been forced into it just so they can have a good life is very messed up too

One of THE BEST TWD episodes, I don't care what people say. First the tension set up between Negan and Simon especially knowing this has to get resolved at some point was fire, then Jadis with that shredder machine- one of the BEST fuckin scenes of the whole show, period, Rick mourning Carl's death and going full on rage and anger mode was absolutely great writing because yes, that would be his natural reaction trying to let that anger out, trying to figure out who's fault it was when it really wasn't anyones and then that radio call with Negan and Rick in the end- top tier! This episode just sets up fundamental explanations in regards of the finale and when people are all like „why would XY do that just now? makes no sense“, yes it does, just watch the second half of season 8 again 😩🤌🏻 okay but apart from that fun fact: now that they are dead, the Trash people's official group name was actually The Scavengers 😂, like it still matters now. Another great reaction from you guys, as always. I'm so pumped for the finale!! Still can't believe you're pretty much at season 9 now already just wow.. I'm so pumped and actually SO glad you've been pretty much completely blind for every season now! This is truly the best way to experience the show.

If you really think about it Rick is honestly the bad guy in negans eye's he killed probably over 100 of his people in there sleep and negan sees people as resources so he decided to kill only two people from ricks community which is honestly fair we could've lost so much more sucks that we lost two good characters but if we followed negan since the beginning we would honestly feel different about everything that happened and even the people that Rick and his community killed in their sleep alot of people say they stopped watching when they killed Glenn but honestly to those people they were never true fans they only watched the show because it was all that people were talking about in summer everyone was wondering " who they were going to kill" in the next season they only watched for the hype and to relate to what everyone else was watching at the time but it's honestly good writing but those people who stopped watching when glenn died obviously don't care about good writing and it's kinda sad It's kinda funny that people are watching the show now after all the memes started coming out just like breaking bad had alot of memes then people started watching I'm not saying it's a bad thing i love that the TWD community is growing But anyways love the reactions rob and trin everytime you guys watch anything TWD related i honestly can't wait to watch it this show brings alot of us so much comfort and it's always amazing seeing something we didn't catch the first time especially the way you guys explain it ❤

Lizzie never goes crazy and never kills her sister Mika...!!! Daryl and Meryl reunite...!!! The two brothers become a team... Both working for The Governor...!!! And what seals the deal...??? The Governor starts dating Carol...!!! And the two of them...??? The Governor and The Queen Lady, Carol...!!! Both adopts Lizzie and Mika...!!! Governor Phillip & Queen Carol...!!! Then later maybe a young romance between...??? Carl and Lizzie... not sure...??? Then for some reason... Woodberry falls and everyone is lost but find each other...!!! This episode I really throughly enjoyed But Rick really disappointed me Every opportunity he gets to address Carl’s wishes for the future he neglects them When he finds out Carl wrote a letter to Negan he immediately goes to I need to talk to Jadis Yes he has a point that the Saviors were shooting at them so their best bet is to team up with Rick once and for all but it is a defence mechanism to not even think about Carl right now and continue on with the mission at hand Then he finally gets the time to read his letter and instead reads Negan’s Then calls Negan up and says I’m gonna kill you TOTALLY disregarding Carl’s wishes Like Negan is the sane one in that final scene (which was amazing) Negan feels genuinely sad that Carl is gone and it looks like he’s about to cry yet here’s Rick walking aimlessly in an open field saying the only future is one where Negan is dead I get it he just lost his son Anyone would be acting like that It’s part of the grieving process but it just upset me how completely disregarded what Carl wanted in that moment and Like why even bother calling Negan to tell him Carl wants peace if you are just gonna tell him that you’re gonna kill him.

I’m with Rick , screw jadis . And I never really liked Carl dunno if it was the actor or what, liked him up until season 3 when he became annoying and tried to be badass. Never got the appeal for him, then he became like weaker being nice and not trying to kill was confusing
