I feel like 6 episodes wasn't enough. 8 or even 10 episodes would have been better. The Rick and Michonne aspect was phenomenal. But Yes, the whole CRM story/lore was quickly rushed, which is why 8 or 10 episodes would have been perfect so they didn't have to rush it at the end.

Yup. Rick and Michonne should have been left to their own series. Michonne finding Rick should have taken longer. As well, Rick finding himself. Crm should have been a brief interlude into a crossover. Or, as you said, an 8 or 10 ep run of the ones who live would have done the CRM arc better.

But Dave lied about Philly falling so for him to know so much,and being Ricks first kill. I thought they would have Rick think back as Dave being one Beales spies.

The issue is AMC didn’t give enough episodes. We needed to see someone from World Beyond coming up to Rick saying they are so grateful to meet him and say there is so much I’d like to tell you, because I am from Portland. We needed a scene showing Kubrick getting out of jail after Beale died, and the Civic Republic leaders telling Rick that they would like him to be a representative of the outer communities and stay in communication with the CR to make sure their interests are protected and to make sure the Civic Republic works for everyone. That would indicate Rick’s influence was to have the CR share food and medicine with outer settlements. And it would indicate Rick will continue to have some power & influence going forward.

few things a good thing about the CR Military backstory (I am sure the writers did this by accident) that makes sense with real life is that the CRM was originally the 28th Inf Div/ the PA National Guard. Why? all the helo's mainly. The PA guard ,at least in real world in 2010 (dont know about now) operated the largest Reserve Components flight training facility east of the Mississippi at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. Because of this they have the standard number of helicopters plus extras for training Reserve and other State's Guard pilots. Plus a lot of spare parts. Something that I think could have added interest, at least for me as retired Army, would have been if either Okafor or Beale had said something to the effect of "We have had long range, long duration area denial patrols out on the Republic's extreme perimeter. they job has been to disrupt other groups from forming into larger groups; to destroy organized groups, to end any threat to the City" Which could have easily have been retconned that one of those groups was Pope's "reapers". They were operating in Northern VA/DC Baltimore area, which is not all that far from Philly.. close enough for a settled community to notice routine helo flights. The CRM was not wiped out. Listen to the voiceover at the end of TOWL. The man states that investigations revealed that the infantry battalions of the CRM were not a part of Beales plans and did not know about them. Obviously the majority of the aviation units did not know either has we see CH47's sling loading supplies over Alexandria (or Commonwealth?). As you state, from the time they ended the frontliners at the forward operating base to when we see them going back to Alexandria, there was probably at least a month or more for investigations to take place. For all we know, the writers may have decided to make Rick the Commander of the reformed CRM. I am sure if we see him again, he will have retained some connection with them. Its clear he does believe in the overall CRM mission, just not the Echelon BS I think that if they progress in this way, with either France or some other new external threat appearing; the communities of the Commonwealth, the CR, New Babylon and maybe even Negan's NYC will all come together to fight it Last, and again, the writers may not have known this, but the CRM's arrangement with the CR to not enter the city and to only rule for 10 yrs is similar to the arrangement and Law of ancient Rome. the Army was not allowed to enter the City unless for a parade and during the Republic, Dictators were elected by the Senate in times of crisis to guide the City through to peace.

We needed to see the "Old Rick" with that "Look"...yeah, we needed to see that "look" and we got it more than once. We also needed their love to be ignited and it was LOL And lastly, we needed to see their family come back together. I loved it. Sure, I agree, they could have made an episode or two but to what end? I'm also in love with this series because Andrew and Danai actually wrote what they wanted Rick and Michonne to be...because they love their characters as much, if not more, as the fans. I hope they bring back Tales. Maybe we could get an episode about the CR in there. I would love to see how the CR/CRM first got started. Same with the Commonwealth. Nope. Going any deeper with the CRM would have simply been TWD season 12. We have literally seen the story of multiple villains being fought and taken down. Multiple communities built up then destroyed. Peace followed by chaos. Rinse and repeat. So many people saying Terry O'Quinn was wasted on this, but wtf? This wasn't a Lost spinoff! I didn't need some grand backstory/ character arc for Beale because he, not only wasn't important to this particular story, but he also wasn't really a super villain. If anything, this is the first enemy that they've had that was somewhat nuisanced in their villainy, which was interesting. The CRM's and Beales purpose wasn't just power for powers sake. They actually were trying for some sort of long term solution for the greater good. Even if they were going about it in a horrible, authoritarian way. Take away the communism/eugenics, and they really weren't all that bad 🤔 lol. And there seems to be a lot of confusion with exactly what was "destroyed" in that explosion. It was literally just the Cascadia base/summit. The rogue elements of the CRM. The Civic Republic is still active, just open to the public so to speak. So yes, there's potentially more story to tell, but it was definitely more than enough for this series, which was strictly about Rick and Michonne.

As a fan of TWD for years I must say I find it super odd that some people in the fandom have watched TOWL expecting it to be a CRM special when it was literally marketed as an epic Love Story!! I get wanting to get World Beyond part 3 Season 3 but The Ones Who Live was never going to be that so no it wasn't underwhelming or a "mistake" because it gave the audience the epic love story they promised. As for the CRM it wasn't completely eradicated by Rick, he ended the Echelon group of the CRM and that was Okafor's stated plan from the very first episode I know some fans wanted 2-3 seasons of Beale as the "big Bad" but that wasn't what the show said it was giving so it is what it is. I hope the fans begin to appreciate that we have over a decade of TWD because this show was never about one enemy or super villain.

It being a "Rick and Michonne love story" doesn't justify giving a terrible rush ending to the most intriguing, built up part of the universe with the most future story potential. You can still have the story be centered around Rick and Michonne and complete their arc without destroying the future and interest of the Walking Dead Universe. Also, the argument people keep making that "they didn't kill the whole CRM only the bad ones" is so pointless because its misrepresenting the critique. People are dissatisfied with the fact that the "big bad" of the CRM is over, not that the whole organization is; they're no longer a threat, so this point is irrelevant.

I think ur idea with a spin off focusing on the crc is a good one and there is still potential for it to happen where it's focused on the crc trying to fix everything that Beale's organization was doing and through that we learn more and more about the crm and how Beale's organization wasn't entirely wiped out and there's still a lot of them out there starting a revolution against the republic and we can find out that they're led by Beale's son trying to get revenge on the people who killed his dad and that can lead into the potential crossover that Gimple said he wanted to do, so I think the crm story isn't done entirely and the ones who live was just there for Rick and Michonne to get home to everyone but now like Beale was saying there is gonna be a civil war where the crm goes against all the communities and it'll bring everyone together for a final fight. Most of the shows in this universe are about action and dramatic confrontations with some relationship dynamics to make us care. The political governance aspect bores most viewers to tears, and I smh because that's precisely what the warning in the story is saying: Let your military make you feel safe and ignore their power at your peril. So while we entertain ourselves in complacent safety and comfort relative to the rest of the world, our military contractor CEOs keep us in eternal wars and proxy wars until the civilians are left with debt for crumbs to survive. In the real world it takes years, even decades, to reclaim or reinvent governments that have been taken over by the military and the rich who keep them supplied. We don't even want to bother dealing with this when it determines what's left for everything else we need irl, and we don't want to think about it while being entertained. I can kind of see the headstone for the end of democracies that reads "Are we not entertained?"

The show would have done better off sticking mostly with Michonne finding Rick and Rick finding himself and left the crm stuff to a crossover. As it is a crm arc is still in the cards, the way it should be done. It's just a matter of getting the characters back for it. But I really wanted a war between the CRM and the Commonwealth Army. I could not get through World Beyond. I've tried several times. I cannot get into those characters. No depth. Come on guys !. This whole show was insanely rushed !. New characters (Nat, Okafor) being killed off: Rushed !. Beale as the main villain: Rushed, anti-climactic and NOT threatening at all!. Rick & Michonne's reunion: Rushed !. Rick going home & reunion with Judith & R.J: Rushed !. And making a comment regarding your statement about which characters were left: They DIDN'T EVEN mention or bring back Beale's son Mason !!. Also, if this was truely the end of the CRM, where were characters like Heath, Althea & Isabelle !?. It felt like they were just trying to rush through this story just to be done with it !. This show just didn't work for me at all and i could be wrong about this, but it kind of feels like you guys are defending it just because you waited for Rick & Michonne so long so let me ask you this: After all these years, didn't you want a better show !?.

CRM was a storyline I didn't care about,there's nothing interesting about them,I don't know how they were in the world beyond but I'm glad they were background in the ones who live

I personally wasn't a fan of world beyond and that's ok. I'm glad others enjoyed it though :)

beale was underwhelming as a character

Wait he was a character?😎

It pains me to say it because I adore this franchise, but all of the spin offs whilst high in quality production just seem disconnected and falling apart, there seems to be no direction either kinda like how marvel is after endgame.

Yes very underwhelming, Feel's like we got short changed just to suit those 6 eposodes.

I HATED everything about the CRM story. The last thing i wanted to see in a zombie survival show is a storyline about a powerful force trying to take over the world. Absolutely ruined TWD universe for me
@la214la6 ай бұрын
Nope. It wasn’t underwhelming because the CRM was never the story. I didn’t watch TWB and I quit FTWD so I wasn’t expecting much with the CRM. TOWL did what it set out to do: tell an epic love story for Richonne! I loved it!

I think Heath was a B. He was supposed to be in the series but the actor was unavailable.
@brianachim26706 ай бұрын
Lol no he wasn’t unavailable. Corey had a massive ego and thought he was too good for TWD.😂

Hey Last couple videos you have had As and Bs backwards As are leaders and test subjects Bs were not leaders.

was the CRM in the walking dead comics?
@NocBroNation6 ай бұрын
No they were not. They were created only for the show.
@mslavender79946 ай бұрын
The story was never about the CRM.

The Ones Who Live, correct but we are talking about the overall CRM storyline spanning across all the shows.

The best part about the crm to me was that it worked and it wasn't based off comic material

After watching it again im disappointed with the one's who live. We didn't need Gabriel at all, Morgan would of made more sense seeing the radio part with Morgan and the walkie talkie, lets be real no one cares about Gabriel at all. There was way too many sex scenes or love scenes that weren't needed, general beal is probably the most useless villain compared to the cannibal people from earlier twd show. The whisperers and savior's were a bigger threat than the CRM. Sure seeing rick is great and all but felt pointless. Would of been better if it had more episodes, to call general beal a villain is a joke, jadis was more of a threat. Plus general beal as a leader, sucked. We saw more of jadis over beal. No mention of his son, so why even make world beyond. Unfortunately this series is down there with world beyond for me, imo dead city and dixon show are way way better and thats not a positive note. Rick Grimes again was great seeing but overall, doesn't even compare to the main show, Dixon show and dead City. I do hope we will get to see an actual reunion with the dixon show or at least dead City, but overall this is as good as world beyond. I also don't understand what the point of silas tweet was for. The reclamation team, would of been a lot better if we actually saw them besides just Jadis. Imo not including Silas in this was kinda stupid, because Silas would've been part of Jadis reclamation team and it would of made better sense than having Gabriel. Heath didn't even exist or mentioned once in the show nor Silas, even tho at the end of world beyond it showed Silas in the CRM uniform like rick as well was. If Jadis sent Silas in, rick nor Michonne would know who he is and would rick kill a kid that sorta resembled Carl Grimes. Doubtful. Overall the show was just ok. If theres 10 thousand crm at the finale i counted maybe 200 so wheres the rest

And it's not your type of show a d that's ok😂, you find the shows you like support them and enjoy them,the ones who live was a masterpiece that's why it's a hit

It was a bit rushed, but then again it was a Rick story, not a CRM one.
