Just me here, but it makes zero sense to kill all *people* they come across. If Humanity truly is in such a dire state that we only had a decade left as a species, wouldn't it make sense to unite every community out there to stop the Walker Threat? If you delete every city out there to where there's only one, then there'll be no one left to help Philly if one of those Million Walker Hordes comes their way
@BIGDZ8346

Nope not just you the whole thing made no sense and was super disappointing they claim 2 things are a major threat zombies in the millions. Yea not like we see them living right below the humans in dead city or that we saw how whispers were controlling hords in the 100,000s. Also CRM has helicopters and bombs and nows diversion targets. The other thing they said is food. Ignoring the fact we saw never saw this as a major problem in any series fear groups commonwealth, the CRM themselves world beyond etc. But with this thinking they would use all their resources to launch a superfarm, but nothing of such was planned. If they made these then the world would have far far more food than it would need due to the fact they could use pre apocalypse methods to make food for millions despite there probobly only being a million or 2 people alive in North America. The most lacking resource will be people to do the work, people they wpuld have actively been killing and thus killing the human race not saving it. Whole thing was massively stupid and disappointing.

Most likely, because there are now too many customers and shareholders nowadays without crititical thinking who demand things to be done as fast as possible which results in a loss of quality. The production of TWD: TOWL and other spin offs and maybe the main series for example should have been longer.

This thing of "humanity only has 14 years to live" makes no sense. Are you seriously telling me that the hordes are growing? How? I mean, every single survivor who is still alive has to have killed at least 30+ walkers over the years and every survivor who dies will, at most, add 1 extra walker to the hordes AND walkers die of natural causes all the time. Meanwhile human colonies have been growing stronger and more numerous the starvation think also makes no sense... Human know how to farm, we have been doing it since we started building houses out of mud and sticks... Also how can the projectiom of "humanity will be over in 14 years" be accurate if they dont have info on how survivors are doing around the globe? How about brazil? How about russia? How about China? How about Australia?

Then, the exact same thing occurs in TOWL. The kids in WB surely would have made Portland aware of what the CRM was up to so it would have been interesting to see how a prepared Portland would fend off their attack all while the CRM would be unaware of them knowing. Idk, i still enjoyed the show, but the culmination we got from all these years of CRM plotlines was just odd to say the least.

This series still has so much scope. I thought CRM would be the final arc in this franchise and after the season 2 of spinoffs and the great reunion, the franchise would be done and dusted. But variants, 500 year plan and extinction can expand the scope even further.
@wesleybutler1868
@wesleybutler1868 Ай бұрын
My personal head cannon right now is that CR outreach that we see in the final show of TOWL is what facilitates the rise of communities like New Babylon and that random bar in Dead City (with seemingly ample electricity). It also seems to me that Beale was probably wrong about the starvation thing as logically, if you support more communities across the continent, they can in turn farm more and reduce overall food insecurity, with the CR in charge of distribution logistics. Walkers, though, with variants and being vectors for other diseases, would still be the existential threat Beale described.

Don't forget that in Tales of The Walking Dead, one episode takes place 35 years in the future, supposedly. We still see that people are around, so is that just not canon anymore, or is Beale's projection he got wrong? The dead still exist though. It would explain why the Headhunter's were trying to move into the area that the guy was trying to study.

The 14 year projection was the conjecture of a madman. We've already seen in TWB that anyone who disagrees with Biel gets the axe, so therefore he ended up surrounded by yes men. I wouldn't put any salt it it and I think this show is where that ends. My guess for the future: Pouvoir is the new big bad, and she is working to make the variant juice airborne. Through the main characters trying to help Daryl, the new CRM comes into conflict with her and overthrows her. With her science and their resources (and in a twist of irony) they gas the dead and cause them to destroy each other. From there the CRM does help rebuild humanity, in the exact opposite manner that Biel had planned.

I understand that rate of decay of the walkers is slowed down but I would think that most of the earliest walkers would just collapse over the next 10 years given we've seen the earliest gen 1 walkers get more and more decrepit over the universe's timeline. Also, I may have missed something during world beyond bc it was boring but I thought that the chlorine gas actually slowed the rate of a person turning to a walker and by extension, could slow rate of decay? If that was the case, it was a stupid idea by the CRM to use it on the large colonies and tens of thousands of more walkers into the world.

I been so intrigued since Season 2 when Rick killed Dave in the bar. Also I live in Philadelphia. Dave said Philly fell faster then everywhere. Due to the Philly being the heart of the opiate epidemic in real life that probably would happen due to all the deaths. But Dave lied about Philly. He knew about Nebraska being a safe haven. He said islands got survivors through military which padre did. I always thought he was a spy. He even knew Fort Benning was destroyed confirmed by Mitch the guy with the tank with the Governor. I loved the series and love that Ricks back but going forward now he’s who I wanna see at the center of the spin-offs. Beale was wasted and CRM was beaten too fast. So now main villains are a lady in France and NYC? Plus we never saw a fresh walker without those darts come back super strong like when the scientist died in world beyond unless he used that dart to kill her. Lastly as great as Andrew Lincoln acting is. Even he couldn’t save the last scene. RJ there was zero emotion. It just makes you wish Carl didn’t die. 3 episodes in before we even knew what we grew to love when Rick found Lori Carl and Shane you felt the emotion. Back most people disliked Lori and Carl myself included but you could feel the bond they had at episode 3 so no him just meeting RJ isn’t validated. Carl should be there with Judith still bottom line. I just hope we still get more Rick moving forward and maybe Beales son takes what left of CRM for the final battle. Cause they are planning a final end game at some point.

The 14-year prediction reminded me of the Star Trek DS9 episode where the savants told Sisko that the Federation had zero chance of winning the Dominion War. They claimed the Federation had to surrender, and sacrifice who knows how many worlds and species, because the alternative was allegedly worse. Sisko, like Rick, refused to accept that. The savants were wrong, and so was the CRM.

I think the whole 14 years left thing is just supposed to show the pessimistic view of the CRM. Everyone who follows in their ideals is made to think they are the only way, something we have seen rick fight many times, even Shane thought his way was the only way, but the thing about Rick is he knows that nobody's one way works, he tried to do that and it almost destroyed the group so they found the prison and started working together, Rick seperated himself from leadership and tried to be a farmer but that didnt work either he needs to be the one who lets other people find their way and when someone comes in like negan to impose their way he has to be the one to stop them.

Thank you. You've made my favorite post The Ones Who Live, finale review. Even though it's not merely/primarily that. I'm astounded how under-appreciated the doomsday clock Beale set the 14 year timer off, has been. I think it's ridiculous as well how people think Beale was lying. It'd make no sense like you pointed out. I think the Walkers and the near-extinction of humanity is definitely the biggest threat now. I like your theory that the synthetic "cohorts" are to fight off the Walkers. I'm wondering where the post-World Beyond-scene Rager(s) come into play. It would be cool if the synthetic Rager injection mutated into a spreadable Rager-turning form of the virus without the need of an injection eventually. But, it's been implied that Dr. Jenner knew about the Rager cohort in France from the start. I too thought about how interesting this doomsday clock makes Dead City look. I saw it in a contrasting way to you though. It gave it a more ominous, dark tone in light of their potential extinction. Taking place a few years later, many say 2029, that puts it at around 7-8 years left until extinction. Look at their population. Walkers outnumber "non-necrotics" about 9 to 1. They live on roofs while the streets are essentially a sea of the dead. Yes, New York was a very densely populated city, where the virus can create somewhat such an environment. But, is it possible they had the extinction in mind, and this is a look into the progression of Beale's projection? It makes New York the perfect archetype for the doom Beale revealed.

"Things should be looking much worse for humanity" Assuming they were correct, anyway. The thing about predictions of the future is that they aren't always accurate. Quite often there are variables that cannot be accounted for. For example, yeah, the walker hordes are a million strong in some cases, but how often do those hordes actually reach occupied settlements? Especially the smaller ones? Moreover, walkers aren't particularly bright, for the most part. A well fortified location can withstand millions of them quite easily. I doubt they'd be capable of taking, for example, a medieval castle. The stone walls were quite excellent at keeping humongous armies out of cities up until things like canons made quick work of them. Getting around those walls or tearing them down took some ingenuity. Siege equipment, that sort of thing. I severely doubt a bunch of dumb walkers mindlessly clawing at it would get through. That's plenty of time to take them out. And not necessarily even with headshots. Taking out their legs is good enough. A guy in hazmat outfitted, bite proof armor can go around poking their heads with a sharp stick once they're no longer able to move. Besides that, with proper measures, humans could divert these hordes, divide them, and thin their numbers before they even get to the point of having to withstand a protracted siege. Diseases are a problem, but they're unlikely to spread fast enough to off everyone. In fact, it's much more likely that people will develop immunities to some of these plagues as time goes on. It's actually in the evolutionary best interest of diseases not to eradicate their host organisms. Disease can definitely thin out a population, but on its own, it is very unlikely to fully eradicate them. Especially since humans are smart enough to do things like quarantine sick individuals, engage in proper hygiene, and use medical care to treat symptoms, therefore increasing survival odds. I daresay the only reason people bitten by walkers die is due to sepsis, not whatever disease causes one to become a walker. Normal human bites have a 90% infection rate. A rotting walker's mouth is full of some of the nastiest bacteria in existence. Without a proper course of antibiotics and treatment, you go septic and probably die. The cause of the walker transformation probably hastens that process a bit, as your immune system will already be weakened due to sepsis. I imagine that, with the right medical care and the right dose of antibiotics, you could probably save someone bitten by a walker. It'd still have a pretty high mortality rate, but I doubt it'd be 100%. As far as famine goes, well, yeah, that's going to be an issue if survivors are relying on previously existent food. Which is exactly why they would be stupid to do that. They will need to grow crops, raise animals, etc. I'm sure they can do that, and many communities already are. Even if those communities do get overrun by walkers at some point, they won't all get overrun. Humans are smart. We've been to the moon. I'm sure we'd figure out a way to keep walkers out of our tomato fields. Humanity would bounce back from a zombie apocalypse. It'd just take time. Probably decades to centuries, depending how advanced we are when it happened. Very few apocalypses would be capable of truly ending our species.

The most idiotic Rick did was get rid of the people that would most likely have a chance of ridding the walkers. Like Rick think about humanity first then survive. I get morals but in a world where you must survive everything from zombies sickness the weather and famine you would want to stay with people that are in a position to help the world then once that threat is gone you deal with the CRM

I mean it's not like only the CRM is capable of that, the CRM will be rebuilt by the CRC. The echelon knowledge isn't lost either. In fact, I'd say that now that the CRC is helping other communities and forging alliances, they're in an even better spot to help humanity. Beale and the CRM just wanted to be the only ones to do so, and control everything.

TOWL wasn't bad. It wasn't necessarily good, but I enjoyed it. I think the main problem with it was that it was only 6 episodes. It had a ton of things to explain and storylines to wrap up, and this just wasn't enough time to do it right. Especially since WD audiences, for better or worse, have gotten used to storylines dragging on

It’s a pretty weird topic tbh. During interviews with showrunner Channing Powell before the shows airing, she stated “they take place over... tentatively 35 years into the future. Don't quote me on that, Scott [Gimple] will kill me.” Besides that one quote there is nothing indicating that any of the episodes take place that far in. The only one that can be argued really is “Amy / Dr. Everett”, As they mention a lot of things that don’t make sense, like “the dead sector” or “skull hunters”. But whether that’s just something we don’t know enough information on or something else, it’s so vague it’s hard to say for sure.

not to side with the group who think genocide is a solution, but the study is right. as in there is no way for a city to become self sufficient, especially in regards to food. and the CRM is incapable of starting up farms to start producing enough food since they are hell bent on remaining hidden from the world, dictating that they limit their foot print and never expand. Or even if they did give up on being hidden from the world, the crm is a very strict police state so any farming initiative has to be a borderline slave plantation, which would spread their military thin, and cause alot of discontent in the populace as well as allowing for people to escape or even sneak in much easier. so yea, to the CRM there legitimately is no way to continue existing because cities demand just way too much in terms of upkeep. that doesnt excuse the literal genocide and would logically mandate a new series of colonies to be establish in order to both decrease the population in the cities and to increase resource generation. but mind you, without large herds of cattle there is no way to get fertilizer in the world so farms would have to be VERY large and have to rely on medieval practices such as crop rotation and furlough

Or they overcame the issue. If you’re asking me though, I’m half convinced that was just a marketing ploy. It’s only ever stated in interviews that “an episode takes place 35 years in” and there’s nothing in that episode that even really alludes to it being in the future. The only thing I can’t think of is dr. Everett stating there is a “dead sector”, but who knows what that even really means. But if we do take it as fact it’s 35-years in, then you’re right, either Beale lied, or they overcame the dead.

I dont think the 14 years should be taken as gospel.. it was just one military organisatuons predictions. No differen tro all the eother economic or population oredictions that are pretty far off in the world today.. The 14 years was more likely an estimate of when it would go to far to rebuild anything. As there would be too many hordes but some people would adapt and learn how to deal with them perfectly. We already saw this in the main show with well worked large scale plans to divert hordes. Youve got to consider that the CRM also wanted to control the world effectively so theyre gonna be a bit extreme with their predictions and views to try and get their followers to believe them

14 year projection is just ridiculous, humanity will fall because of walker mega hordes? The most dangerous time for humanity was the first few months, every year that goes by the walker threat gets less and less, not more. All you would need to do is artificially steer mega hordes into a kill zone that you've set up and you could wipe out tens of thousands of zombies per day. The walking dead should have never introduced these huge survivor groups with vast resources because it becomes immediately implausible that they wouldn't be able to easily wipe out the walkers with very little effort.
