I like the fact that Sun Studios 'gives' these recordings to talentful artists, even though Elvis and Johnny Cash were mainstream artists when they recorded there. They could have chosen to stuff in Bruno Mars or James Morrison too, but they didn't.

HE is so on about being light, even while remaining serious and pertinent, even melodramatic but not letting the sound sink in under the thematic wight of the music; something that Walkmen just keep getting better at and National move farther away from by becoming brooding, and frankly a bit boring. I have known Walkman's music for almost a decade now but I am just beginning to appreciate how wonderfully and determined they've stuck to their course. What a pleasure.

@trevfrank pretty hard to pick a favorite. a few are "Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone," "Rue the Day," "In the New Year," "Canadian Girl," "138th Street," "Bows + Arrows," "Lisbon." i do love "The Rat", but it's sad to see it overshadow all the other great music they've done.
