I just took the time to apply this to my own swing from 8i through Driver and I love the connectedness it imparts from takeaway through impact. Thank you for sharing. I'll be placing this into practice. Very well presented!

This backswing technique really took my ball striking up a few notches. I'm amazed at how solid a platform this creates. From this repeatable takeaway I can either rotate my torso hard at the ball for a high straight shot, or let the club drop below plane and rotate with lower body action to work the ball. The old Scottish wisdom of "you don't hit it with the backswing" is catchy, but woefully misleading. Thanks so much for this.

Great stuff. This really helped me with my club head coming inside too fast at the takeaway. Only suggestion would be to also refer people to the Golf Lesson - Part 1 video where you talk about wrist rotation toward the target, because thinking of that and the wall together was the real aha moment for me. Thanks!

@martinez19696 What's valuable is it works in practice from the get-go, thus I can practice into an understanding, then backtrack should grasping it cognitively be necessary. It works very well within what I'm already doing. I'll be spending some time this evening digging into the rest of your videos. Thank you for sharing!

Martin, my feel of this wall is, as im set up, i imagine a gust of wind coming in from my 11 o'clock, that blows up into my armpits, as it does so, i feel my right shoulder move in the same direction as the wind, whilst my right arm bends. At the top, i feel a sensation that ive preserved all the kinetic energy in my right arm (i.e. im ready to thrust out big time for the release to expel tis energy built up). Its like feeling as if im set up to throw a ball into the ground

Word of warning. An open stance restricts the turn and restricing turn can cause damage to your spine. The Greatest Golfers in the world didn't restrict their turn. Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Sam Sneed, Jack Nicholas, just to name a few.

So if the golfer rotates the upper torso clockwise while maintaining a solid left leg/knee - is that the correct way to feel this exercise, or have I misinterpreted? thanks

sorry carrying on - at the top, as said i feel as if im set up to throw a ball into the ground but my right armpit does not have much room (as opposed to a typical overarm swing of a cricket ball (say). i also feel my body as Elk says, going forwards during backswing (as im going round) i can defintely feel my arms being in front of me and better connection sorry for being long winded - but is this the sensation?

Martin, do you want the wall on your target line or feet line when you catch it? Thanks

Martin, late to the game here but I've been checking out your videos. So the mike represents a wall that is running parallel to your heels (when you open up your stance), is that correct? How much should you open up your stance? It looks like you are 30-45 degrees open. Also, should the wall be in line with your heels, how far back of your heel line should the wall be? Thanks, really enjoy your videos.

This is way too complex and in my view not well presented. Is this guy a pro or just a guy who likes hearing himself talk. There are many more valuable videos on utube on the takeaway than this. Sorry but i'm being genuine about how this video came over to me.

As much of a game this talks and yet his instruction is pathetic ... Trying so hard to show something that can only been seen thru his eyes an absolute joke ...
