I think it's because of the memories of listening to these bands throughout the day more. I remember when U2's beautiful day would play on my moms stereo came on and it was really beautiful outside, sun shining, partly cloudy, 80 degrees and not a worry in my head. just me being a kid and cloud gazing while thinking on what I wanted to do next.

The description of the first character is of an individual who seeks attention ("she only went and did what she did so he would drive her home then"); the second of an individual who wishes for stability & security (she wishes for a husband and a job); and the third, of an individual who values freedom ("I'm headed out on that highway/I'm goin' right out of state").
