The Walmart greater isn't working for himself. He's working to pay for his wife's medication that isn't covered by Medicare. He's working to pay for his kids debts. To send his grand kids to college. He's always working for someone else. He is the king of fools who finances the follies of others and not his own needs or desires. Important video!

I think what we're going to be seeing a lot of is men who had a plan A good job, house, retirement, etc who got blindsided with a divorce after 15 or 20 years of marriage because his wife "just isn't happy" overnight he's going to lose most of his money and assets and then struggle to pay the bills, alimony, child support until there's nothing left but a broken man greeting you at Wal-Mart. Sad really

"back to the future" shows this very colorfully. if you don't have it your way, if you delay, if you let others laugh at your plans and dreams -- it's over. you're other people resource. your days are a waste of life. no second chance. i was 25 when i planned to become a millionaire, i thought i wasted my youth... and look at me now? circumstances, shmovid, crisis after crisis, friends family etc etc... decades are behind -- and no millions of dollars in my pocket. life happens! if you don't pay attention, if you don't steer your life daily -- the flow will always lead you to where others end up. and in 95% cases its poverty.

Man, this is sad and at the same time a little bit of a shock. I live in Costa Rica and we got Walmart here - yeah we got supermarkets, we don't hunt down dinosaurs - and yet, we do not have greeters at Walmart. You just go in, do your groceries and go home.

That job is actually awesome for a 70 year old. You get paid almost 18 bucks an hour, and by that age you typically own your own home if not multiple homes. The lower pay means you basically pay almost no tax. Combine that with pension income and the bare minimum for living expenses and you're actually doing quite well. In addition, you get to meet people, albeit for a second or half a minute if they chat you up but it keeps your spirits up and prevents loneliness, which is a huge killer for old folks. And who actually gives drama to a greeter? You literally smile at them at best and at worst you just kindly ignore them.
@Larrye1233 жыл бұрын
$18 an hour? I have to earn $80 to fill up my car with gas for a week. My neighbors all work with combined incomes of between $120-$150k a year. They don't drive new cars. Average car age on our court is probably about 6 yo and most buy used. Mine is 11yo. An old man should be making $250k to $500k a year from his investments, not $18 hour.

Complete the opposite. Do anything now. Do not save anything for when you are older. The age of 70 will be too late, life's over. At 70 or later you can expect death any moment. So it doesn't matter if you're a Walmart greeter or someone who sleeps on money. If it's true the decades are fast, the last decade of your life even in misery will pass quickly too.
@CarlosRodriguez-bh2ey2 жыл бұрын
I agree to some degree with you that you need to enjoy your younger years, but that doesn't mean that you're going to throw away your money. You need to be thinking about the 70yo you and how he's gonna survive. Will he even have enough money to eat?

he meant you should plan ahead to not end up cornered like most people end up. all old people you see once were young cool kids too. you can always feel the pressure that makes your life hard. if you don't see where they push you, you will end up far away from where you expected.
