So like others have said, Shions squad that numbers "about 100" are the people who died and were ressurected. The anime glossed over it but they basically became imortal, gaining a high level regeneration skill along with a skill that protects their souls and means that their souls can retain their memories, so even if their heads were destroyed they could regenerate just fine. As an added fun fact I beleive that the orgres serving under benimaru used to be hobgoblins that had been training under benimaru as part of him being the head of tempests army, I beleive they evolved into ogres when rimuru went through his harvest festival. Just for anyone curious where a bunch of extra ogres came from when they had previously all been wiped out.

You know there is a difference between "demon lord/Maó" and "demon/Akuma". They are translated both as demon, yeah. But maó means more something like "great magic caster" of sort. For example: Millim is a demon lord but she´s not realated to Diabolo, an actual demon (akuma). Though, it is possible that a demon became a demon lord, being both at the same time.
