You didn’t mention the details for Egypt’s refusal of allowing Palestinians through the border. As soon as Israel declared war, they and the US tried to convince the Egyptian government into allowing Palestinians to “reside temporarily” in Sinai, even offering to negate all external debt. However, if they are allowed passage, a new resistance organisation would arise that would, not only endanger the lives of Egyptian civilians in Sinai, but also attack Israeli forces from their positions. This would give Israel the perfect justification to attack Egyptian lands while the government would have no right to defend or reprimand. The Egyptian prime minister’s speech was hinting at this possibility. The Egyptian government isn’t allowing Palestinians out of inhumane treatment (they have been the primary suppliers of medical aid and food etc. to the people of Gaza in the Arab world), but it is because doing so would further escalate the conflict and undermine the cause of the Palestinian civilians.

In malaysia, most Malay language tv channel just glossed over Hamas atrocities committed on Oct 7. They interviewed Palestinian aid organization members, they ran news without even fact checking facts or waiting for new facts(eg The Al-Ahli hospital attack, the video about evacuating cars getting "bomb"). Heck, they don't even bother to update the news with new info or make a correction at all. I suspect the government have a hand in what they want people to watch, considering the fact that they just run the news about "2 swedish national shot in Belgium" with this exact headline, no mention of the perpetrator's nationality or religion affiliation at all. Mind you I'm a muslim, I personally think it's stupid to cover up/or not even bother to show us, the muslim populations in this country any act of violence that were perpetrated by a muslim towards a non-muslim.

Iran learned from their loss of sovereignty to the United States after the coup in 1954. It conducts a lot of it's regional influence similar to how the United States does. Whatever country is bothering Iran, gets their rebels armed and a good long civil war started. ( Houthis in Yemen undermining the US/Saudi Arabian friendly regimes and Al Qaeda/ISIS in Syria weakening the Assad government for the United States) Russia learned as well. But he was not talking about refugees. (Not saying that Egypt will take them in, just correcting you) Side note: I'm a big fan!
@cenach8145 Жыл бұрын
It wasn't a mistake. This entire video is a masterclass in subtle propaganda that appeals to you by appearing to be objective and "only about the facts" He didn't mention that Israel bombed the Rafah crossing several times after Oct. 7. Nor did he mention Israel's specific threats that they gave out beginning Oct. 8 that they would bomb any aid trucks attempting to leave from Egypt to Gaza. Nor did he mention the several times since that Israel bombed aid trucks and even an ambulance convoy attempting to make the cross. Nor did he capture the very obvious implications from the fact that Israel is even in a position to **let** humanitarian aid in through the south passage. Nor did he capture Egypt's concern that if they allow Palestinians to all exit into Egypt, it's more than likely that Israel would then seize the vacant Gaza land and never allow them to return as they have been doing gradually for over the past 70 years - Thus by not mentioning any of that, this video intentionally painted a picture that the ONLY reason Gazans can't flee south is because "Egypt doesn't like them or want them." He mentions the exact number of Israeli's reported to be killed on Oct 7, yet nowhere mentions the numbers of civilian deaths since Oct 7, of which now are more than 10x than the number of Israeli deaths reported. Just a few weeks ago this channel released a video with extensive coverage of what's happening in Myanmar to the Rohingya people, and in that video there were no punches pulled when naming it a genocide. They used wording such as "Extermination campaign," "Killing indiscriminately," "Horrific acts of violence," "The rampage was widespread and systematic." Compare that to in this video, he can't even outright say that Israel is committing war crimes, but instead says "SOME at the UN are calling Israel's actions POTENTIAL war crimes." The verbiage used in this video only paints Palestinians as "people caught in the midst of a war," and not a people who are actively being exiled for good. Apparently to this channel, they see a big difference between burning down villages and turning entire city blocks to craters of rubble with US-made munitions. Also notice how the graphic at 3:10 shown a couple times figuratively paints a picture that the IDF "must cut through Gaza civilians if they want to beat the bad guys" or "the bad guys hiding behind civilians." More 'human shield' imagery to excuse Israel for bombing numerous targets that have not at all been proven to be remotely related to Hamas militants outside of IDF statements and misleading videos. I could be entirely wrong. Maybe they're purposely skirting around naming a spade a spade because they feel there are forces on the internet who'd take this video down, and perhaps the whole channel down, for plainly stating what is happening in Gaza. At any rate, I am really tired of seeing so many news outlets and so many journalists from the west, ones that I thought were neutral and good sources of perspective, so blatantly cave in to the propaganda on this specific conflict, the conflict that's been the most widely reported-on and widely focused on for this generation in the west. My vision of the press - that is being the people at forefront shining a light on atrocity even in the midst of scrutiny from their own governments - has been shattered from this conflict as I've realized that those forces are seemingly much too powerful for even modern-day journalists to go against.

He missed the part of where hezbullah already lost over 70 fighters from Israeli strikes and the few anti tanks missles they fired into Israel before each Israeli attack. Hezbullah is a harder war but they don’t hide under civilians which makes it a little easier then Hamas. Hezbulla of course can still join but for now they’ve only been bothering Israel but are showing that they don’t want a conflict with Israel. Yemen have the ability to get to the southern part of Israel but aren’t a real threat to Israel. The US already sent a lot of troops into the region including 3 fleets of aircraft carriers, which one only one of those can almost wipe out hezbulla. Iran like he said don’t join this war but use weaker organizations to “bother” Israel.

Why do these conversations only begin from the point where Israel receives retaliation for its military occupation? It's as if the vast majority of Western populations who daily scream about democracy and human rights do not believe in these values for everyone because they instantly start justifying the horrifying abuse of those victimized by their allies. The victim blaming is endless. Everyone was offended about Mahsa Amini but they don't care about 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza. Suddenly it's acceptable to let them starve as well as bomb them and allow the hospitals to run out of fuel to protect them. Those women's rights don't matter to Americans and Europeans. Neither do the rights of 5,000 Palestinian children killed by Israel because they weren't victims of the taliban so who cares about their rights? How many news outlets demand from Israeli representatives to apologize for their crimes even though they're officially representing Israel but they ask every Arab and Palestinian supporter to condemn Hamas. Why? Why is that burden not put on all Israelis whose taxes pay an illegal occupation? The IDF has murdered more than 150 Palestinians in the West Bank including 50 kids since 7 October. There's no Hamas there but nobody asks them to condemn those killings. Why? Because they're an army so they're allowed to commit extra judicial executions? Then let other countries do the same as well. At least, be consistent in your moral depravity.

As an Israeli, I appreciate this video that describes the situation very fairly and accurately. Few points worth mentioning: 1. In the last months normalization talks started between Israel and Saudi Arabia with the US as the middleman. Israel would gain more regional stability with another country that excepts it existence. Saudi Arabia would get military aid from the US to protect itself again Iran and its proxies, and the US would make another strong ally in the region. This deal is the worst nightmare possible for Iran as all 3 are enemies of Iran. 2. I'm not sure that the "Don't!" calls were meant to Israel. Israeli officials worked closely with US officials discussing the high-level approach for dealing with Hamas, and I'm pretty sure that they knew and accepted the Israeli plans for ground operations. 3. It's of course only a point of view, and I'm myself not the biggest fan of the Netanyahu's Israeli government, but there is a difference between a country like Iran that calls for the destruction of Israel constantly and Israel that its main goal is to protect Israelis. Most Israelis don't want this war but see it as a necessity to our existence to eliminate Hamas and weakening this Iran backed axis.

@@lIIllIlIII The Israel-Palestine conflict has deep historical roots, with key events tracing back to the early 20th century. However, the ongoing war, often referred to as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, started in earnest in the mid-20th century. Key dates include: 1. **Early 20th Century Tensions**: The roots of the conflict can be traced back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries with the rise of nationalist movements among both Jews and Arabs in the region, then part of the Ottoman Empire. 2. **British Mandate Period**: Tensions increased during the British Mandate of Palestine (1920-1948), with both Jewish and Arab communities seeking control of the land. 3. **1947-1948**: The United Nations proposed a partition plan in 1947, which was accepted by Jewish leaders but rejected by Arab leaders. This led to the 1947-1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine, which escalated after the declaration of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, and the subsequent Arab-Israeli War. 4. **Post-1948 Conflicts**: Since the establishment of Israel in 1948, there have been multiple wars and intifadas (uprisings), including major conflicts in 1956, 1967 (the Six-Day War), 1973 (the Yom Kippur War), and subsequent clashes and uprisings such as the First Intifada (1987-1993) and the Second Intifada (2000-2005). Thus, while the conflict's origins are complex and deeply rooted in history, the war in its current form began in the mid-20th century, particularly around the time of Israel's establishment in 1948. Even hitler when the US asked him not to invade other countries he mentioned Palestine and not Israel because it didn't even exist, so with the new Israel terrorist state it only gotten worse

4:57 Actually, the rockets fired by Hamas are "home-made", hence their lack of accuracy. That said, Iran funds Hamas in different ways, e.g., automatic machine guns, bullets, money, vehicles, training - as you mentioned. Those "home-made" rockets were able to overwhelm the Israeli iron-dome due to the sheer number of rockets fired at the same time, from different origins, to multiple targets. Whenever those rockets were fired in reduced quantities, the iron-dome was able to destroy them. However, the cost induced to Israel, in order to destroy these Hamas' "home-made" cheap rockets, is quite substantial - because, not only are those Israel rocket quite expensive, but also because Hamas has been firing plenty of those lately. On October 7th, the sheer number of Hamas rockets was too much for the iron-dome to tackle.

The cycle of violence going on in Gaza right now reminds me very much of the constant state of other disaffected regions. The Sahel, the Levant, etc. Each of these are being defined by multiple layers of perscribed violence and retaliation. The question I far often come to when looking at these problems? What will it take to break the cycle? Im afraid to say the answer is never clear cut.
@RainyDayWolf Жыл бұрын
Colonialism specialty is destabilization, Israel supported H4m4s at the beginning because they didn't want Palestine to have an actual government, they don't even recognize Palestine as a country, H4mas existence is very convenient for the dehumanization of Palestinians, you can see the videos of Israelis calling Palestinians "animals". This narrative also allows them to keep taking land and keeping the apartheid.
@TimEssDub Жыл бұрын
The borders in the MIddle East and Sahel were made by colonizers for their benefit, not the people living there. This ensures constant warfare and instability. Israel's creation led to dispossession of Palestinians who lived there for centuries.

I love the entire video, but one thing I would disagree on is in the end. You mention how there are people who don’t want to be involved in this war, and people who can just go about their days if this war wasn’t going on, but the oppression of Palestinian people, especially in the West Bank, especially when you look at the history of how Gaza was came to beis not a normal day today. If this war is turned off, then their treatment continues and even more so it gets worse as we seen throughout the years.

Great video as always, though I wished you elaborated as to what caused the powder keg to explode and caused Hamas to launch the attack (whether or not one agrees is totally another matter but context here matters a lot, as mentioned by the UN Secretary General on how these events did not happen in vacum)

What I find amazing is when the western media talks about the Israeli conflict is the lack of context such as the 1948 Nakba & the false promises that the British government promised Arab independence. Just like the media leaves out the context of the 2014 Maydon coupe, 2015 Minsk Agreements, America’s promise not to expand nato one inch eastwards in relation to the Ukraine conflict.

Well this issue was always there and the current circumstance is not something that can escalate to; it has already escalated. Israel will conduct a military operation into Gaza regardless of what anyone else says. It's similar to how the US reacted after 9/11. The question is what happens after, if Israeli government learns from the US's mistakes and tries not to do something stupid like the US invasion of Iraq or focuses on accomplishing its goals.

Now if we could just get politicians to act so nicely when dealing with people who have different beliefs and political leanings. I saw an example of this with the Kentucky governors election. The incumbent was a lot more polite with his ads than the competition was and pleased for our citizens to reach across the isle and cooperate with each other to achieve our goals and wishes. The competition was very mean and pathetic with their ads. The governor showed great restraint and respect for his competition. Why can't all politicians be the same? But that's like asking a lion to be vegan. One can dream, right?.....

@@BackYardScience2000 I consider myself to be an independent, with support for republicans or democrats depending on the certain issue...and I honestly love talking to people with different political ideas. Yes, sometimes you get curse words and "it's a waste of time", but from time to time there are people willing to challenge mine and argument for their ideas and I love that. I think that's the only way we can keep this country together. We need to realize that in the end, we only differ in the way we would solve certain issues, but we can all agree that those issues are needed to be solved. And there's been a couple of times my opinions started changing because someone has way better arguments and facts than I did. Which is another problem...so many people refuse to admit that they are wrong....and I just realized this comment looks like a huge virtue signaling, but it's not :D I swear.

Regarding Egypt not letting palestinians in, the president El Sisi mentioned the reason why. He states that it speaks against the Palestinian dream to return their independence/Palestinian state. Also they have been down this road before, when the borders are open, the conflict moves to the neighbouring countries and they cannot afford that. They do allow humanitarian aid and it was intended to be sent before but israel bombarded the rafah border

Why not allow women and children at least to move through? Palestinian Dream vs Palestinian lives? Ukrainian women and children migrated all over Europe, no one told them “it’s your dream land so stay there to die”. Egypt just doesn’t Want to have them.
@hebaakha Жыл бұрын
@soooonya2 it comes back to the other reason. Egypt has economic issues atm, it cannot afford to have war at its land ( the same situation happened with Jordan "black September" ). It also already has a lot of refugees (e.g. from Syria). And btw regarding the Palestinian dream, or in this case, palestinian rights, is still very important to a lot of them. To live a rightful life without discrimination in their own country. Most of them lost a couple of friends or family members over the years by israeli attacks, which increased their will to resist the injustice. It is also a weird thought to be kicked out of the only place left for you to live in your country (next to the westbank where palestinians are kicked out as well). This whole narrative is known for the arab world and, therefore, also considered when making political decisions
@craigslist6988 Жыл бұрын
lol of course that's the most humane spin you can put on "we don't want this problem, deal with it yourself"
@hebaakha Жыл бұрын
@craigslist6988 not really, but every country including European countries have to ensure chaos doesn't result internally because it would hurt both parties. Plus the UN condemns the war crimes committed by israel. Why aren't they interfering? There are a lot of calculations which have to be done for these decisions. There is an interview with Bassem and Piers Morgan also going into this point of why the neighbouring countries are taking these decisions, it's worth it to take a look at it.

It seems very biased to mention the 1,400 Israeli deaths and not mention the 10,000+ Palestinian deaths, 4,000+ of which are children. It's also biased to frame this conflict as starting on October 7th as you have done. As the UN secretary general said, this didn't start in a vacuum. Gaza was an open air prison for almost two decades before Oct. 7th.
