Then he somehow took me behind Peach's stained glass window where I explored some kind of internal plexus of the castle. ....guys...I think I figured things out. So, from what I gather, Wario shows Mario "fun" by making him run faster and faster as the hallway seems to be farther and farther away. Both characters are seen as the fatter versions of their brothers, right? So Wario is really making Mario excersice, presumably because Waluigi or other characters told him to do so and he didn't want to.
