Few bands have the guts to completely redo an iconic song, but The Warning is fearless. Alessia is a pop star so they started off slow and the song gets angrier and _angrier_ as it goes along. Time for some of their originals - 'Evolve' from the 2023 MTV VMAs.

Less of a cover, more of a re-imagining. Before this, I never knew I needed the main riff in half-time before. Now I can't get it out of my head. I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Alessia very sweetly puts you to bed, then Dany rouses the troops, Pau shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one. Next, go watch the live version in 2022 from Teatro Metropolitan. The drummer, Pau, was the recipient of the Drumeo Rock Drummer of the Year award for 2023. Yeah, she is pretty good. I have to echo what others have said-before you move on to another song (and they’re ALL great), react to the live version of ENTER SANDMAN…at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX (the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City). It’s a pro-shot live show with incredible sound. Dany adds a little more grit to her vocals and Alessia Cara’s part is used as a backing track. Many of us agree with you-this has become our favorite version of this iconic song!

My suggestion would be to find their Teatro Metropolitan show from 2022 and go through the whole thing one song reaction at a time. From their opener "Z" to their encore "Evolve", every song is awesome. Seriously, EVERY song. You'll also see them perform this version of "Enter Sandman" at that show as well. These ladies are especially enjoyable to watch live, and the Teatro show was professionally recorded, so it sounds and looks great. Correct me if this is wrong, but I heard that this was a song request from someone because the owner, manager, promoter, ? loved Metallica. This was done after they did all of their high energy concert. Ale was almost too tired to hold up her bass for a 6 minute song, but made it through!

Yes, pobrecita Alejandra was exhausted (I think she was only 13 or 14 then.) But she still held up her end of the bass line and finished strong like a boss!

Oh, man. Atlas Rise from the Whiskey a Go Go is one of the last covers they did, concentrating on their original music going forward (which is all beyond gold,) but holy shit, what a way to go out doing a cover! It's kept true to the original but is absolutely fantastic. They played it as an encore to a two hour set and were exhausted but absolutely killed it. Definitely check it out. Oh yeah, don't think I didn't notice the Minnesota Vikings beanie. From Minneapolis here. 😁

Great 2nd reaction to The Warning Jason! The Villarreal-Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track! They have recently finished recording their 4th studio album: no name or release date yet. They have recently released 2 songs "MORE" and "SICK" from the upcoming album. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 24, 22 and 19 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #48 original songs (and recently finished recording their 4th studio album). They performed 2 songs at the MTV VMA's last September. Drummer Paulina writes around 75% of The Warning's songs. Most of her songs begin in rock ballad form; starting with a concept, then chord progression, melody and basic song structure on the piano. She may only have a verse and a chorus when she brings it before her sisters. Together they transpose each instrument's part and "rockify" the song. They complete any lyrics, bridges and any arranging, etc. making changes along the way. A 2/3 approval vote of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Paulina has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both guitarist Daniela and bassist Alejandra write equally great songs; just not as many. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. 🗣 Subscribed! 👊😊

This song was my intro to The Warning. It made me want to learn all I could about them. This band is the future! I highly recommen a THIRD version which is their live rendition of this song from 2022 at Teatro Metrpolitan CDMX. Exactly right. Everyone prefers this version (& their live version even more) it’s fresh & modern & actually fits the creepy lullaby theme better. It’s not a cover, it’s a reimagining. Yes, Atlas rise is epic but we’ll get there eventually. First go to ‘Queen of the Murder Scene’ at Teatro metropolitan CDMX 2022 & give that a go. You may find cover songs less interesting after that.

The live Teatro Metropolitan version is overall rather heavier, with some additional vocals, and is good guide to where they have come since (although they played it with a string section on their Mexico tour last fall, but thus far no official release, just fan vids which I suggest not focusing on). Where to go from here: - Evolve, from the MTV VMA (MTV at last report was trying to get a space probe to find their roof, which they blew clear off the venue -- there were very few people there who knew of The Warning, but by the end, they most assuredly did!). - Sick, OMV (most recent release) - More, from the MTV VMA (released around middle of last year, IIRC). Somewhat different style; you might want to compare the OMV with the live performance. - Disciple, Teatro Metropolitan - Dust to Dust, Teatro Metropolitan - 23, Teatro Metropolitan (more of a power ballad, but real power) - Z, Teatro Metropolitan - Martirio, Teatro Metropolitan (their second song in Spanish, the kind of song that when they play stadiums will have 70,000 people singing along even in non-Spanish speaking countries) - Dull Knives, either Teatro Metropolitan or the Cave (their practice studio at home) - Queen of the Murder Scene, either Teatro Metropolitan or Lunario (much older show) (title track from second album; a lot of us like to speculate on Metallica covering as King of the Murder Scene). - Anything else from Teatro Metropolitan

The really turned it around. The original starts with that iconic riff and ends with 'take my hand', here they start with 'take my hand' and end with the iconic riff. The build up is fantastic. Single picked notes in the first verse, power chords in the 2nd, a very soft lullaby that builds up to the big riff finish. Not to mention the harmonies.. Genius arrangements. The best version is the live teatro metropolitan cdmx. May be worth doing that one as well. And definitely check out the Atlas Rise from the Whisky.

Certainly left the producer of the show expressing his astonishment with colourful (that's how the rest of the world spells it)language. The responses I have heard "You're kidding me, there's only three of them and they sound like a freight train", "that can't be her voice live, it's sounds like a studio recording" " "That drummer WOW" "OMG the Bass did you hear the Bass" "An extremely tight band, and their arrangements are excellent" "I have yet to hear a song I do not like from these girls, amazing song writing" etc. Enjoy cause they bring a smile to all of us.

Now, you should check out the live Enter Sandman performance they did at their Teatro Metropolitan concert in Mexico City in August of 2023. Same song structure as here, but, absent Alessia Cara, their adaptation of the song takes on a harder rock edge. Worth your time. If you can't bear reacting to the song for the third time, I would suggest you check out any song from that performance. Maybe start with the first song of the concert, "Z"? Live is their super power. Atlas Rise is absolutely worth listening to, I suggest The Whisky a Go Go version. Then to really get blown away you need to move on to their original music. Great reaction and great way to start off your trip down the the warning rabbit hole I would like to suggest that you do a double feature of this band covering metallicas "Atlas Rise" there is one where they play it in their The Warning Cave and another that is live at the whiskey a gogo you wont be disappointed :)...subbed!

If you want to hear more of them when they were younger then I suggest watching the two TedX talk they did, those were what hooked many of the fans especially the 2nd TedX Talk. It is also where you will learn more about them as they talk in between three songs that they perform. After that Check out their entire Teatro Metropolitan Live concert and then the Lunario live concert for their first full performance of their Rock novel concept album Queen of the Murder Scene.

Try The Warning live at The Teatro Metropolitan Mexico City August 2022, there's a killer live version of Enter Sandman, the rest are originals, and in general a killer concert, this band is renown for being amazing live, check them out with Michael Starr from Steel Panther on the SHIPROCKED 2024 tour closing the tour with "Highway to hell" Bon Scott would have been proud.

Seeing them perform this live at Teatro Met is a must it's incredible. Pretty awesome they did this in 10 days during Covid it is a great cover. One comment I liked was this is your moms ES. They do Atlas Rise at The Whiskey which is really good an add on at the end of a 2 hour set when they were pretty young still and they kill it. Any song from Teatro Met is worth a watch. Like I told you YES!!! they murder ATLAS RISE you won't believe how big it sounds for a 3 piece. Here's some simple math 3 girls = 4 grown men its a must listen to!! Great reaction! Here, this is a one-way ticket down The Warning rabbit hole express with your name on it. Like yourself I grew up with Metallica and they'd been my favorite band for over 35 years. Then I heard this song Money a few times on the radio while in the car. It had nothing to do with Pink Floyd though! Every time it came on I kept thinking man this is really freakin good! Very rarely do I look up songs on youtube but I'm so glad I did. After Money, the next video was Evolve and I was blown away. This Enter Sandman video came up afterwards and I knew right there that I had a new favorite band. This is the best version of this song and it belongs to The Warning now, sorry Metallica! So my suggestion is Evolve live at the VMAs, or Disciple at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022 where Pau the drummer and Dany the guitarist trade lead vocals. Pau also sings lead, so if you want to check that out I suggest either Dust to Dust or 23 from the same concert. You Have Been Warned!

Dany, the guitarist and lead vocals, is the oldest of the trio. Paul, the drummer, also sings and does much of the writing, is the middle child and Ale, the bassist, is the youngest. I think she might be 16, 17 here? Clearly she had a growth spurt since that earlier Enter Sandman video. Dany has the rock goddess look down pat. Pau is the Jekyll/Hyde, angel/devil. Ale is the most stunningly beautiful of the three and that is no exaggeration. Just seeing her, just her, you still see an awkward teenaged girl. But, on stage, playing? She commands as much attention as the others. She got asked sometime in ‘22 or ‘23, “You’re singing harmonies, when will you sing lead?” To which, she answered, “I will, just not yet.” Think of how awkward you felt as you were leaving your teens and entering adulthood. Now, envision doing that in front of thousands of adoring, screaming fans. She’s sang lead on a couple songs even though Dany and Pau carry the bigger loads. But, once she gains the confidence in her voice that she has in her bass. After all, there’s a reason they’re called The Warning. You’ve been warned,

Good reaction. Now you need (as others have said) to do the third version of Enter Sandman from the 2022 Teatro Metropolitan Concert. Then you can follow up with all the other songs from the Teatro Metropolitan concert because when they were young, they decided not to be a cover band and only do originals. The only exception is Enter Sandman. They have 3 albums, 50 original songs, none bad. If you want to get really knocked back in your chair, listen to Evolve from the 2023 MTV VMAs. We (The Warning Army) are currently waiting for the 4th album to drop. The members of The Warning are Dany (Dan-nee) guitar, Pau (POW! like the sounds she makes) drums, and Ale (Ah-leh) bass. All are classically trained pianists. All sing.

Take a dive into their original music catalog, it's better than the covers they did. Anything The Warning posted from the Teatro Metropolitan concert is phenomenal. Evolve, Choke, Animosity, Narcissista, 23, Queen Of The Murder Scene, Dull Knives (cut better), Survive, man, the whole show is fire. It starts on fire and keeps melting faces the entire two hours. These three are simply incredible, as performers, songwriters, and as people. I have been fortunate enough to attend two shows they did, both at small venues. One had a max capacity of about 350, the other, about 1000. Absolutely killer shows both times. I have a feeling that those days are gone, as to their popularity grows and the shows draw larger crowds.

When Metallica invited 50+ groups and individuals to record their versions of the songs for 30 anniversary of the Black album the instructions were clear, change it, do whatever you want but don’t change the lyrics. Almost all the covers I heard all they did were straight covers, except for The Warning, they understood the assignment. In 10 days time, the Warning in Mexico and Alessa in Canada (this was all done during the height of COVID) it was sung, mixed and produced and video done in order to make the deadline. Metallica liked it so much it’s the first song that appears on the album. Anywhere you go from here you will not be disappointed enjoy your journey into the Warning, you have been warned. p.s. anything you checkout, video, interview, behind the scenes after movie we will happily watch your reaction regardless of how long it is, we love this group that much.

The real reason it's first is surely more prosaic -- the songs on the Blacklist are in the same order as on the original (and ES was first), and within those, sorted by lead artist name (Alessia Cara was considered the lead artist on this, and her name was alphabetically first). But I will hardly disagree that the Blacklist saves the best for first.

BTW, they had a week to do this project. They also got a weeks notice to open for Muse in Mexico. After a couple shows, Muse invited them to tour in Europe. The girls didn't take it seriously, bc no way, right. Same happened with G&R to some US dates. And yeah, no guitar shred for you buddy, just good rock songs with great riffs and lyrics. Oh, and excellent live performers.

I suggest these songs: Money, Dust To Dust, Sick, Evolve (VMAs) & Disciple Also you should check out Band Maid. They're an all female rock band from Japan. I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle) BTW - both bands are big fans of each other. IMO - they're the best 2 rock bands out right now!

Every live performance is best there are many to choose from. But all of the theatre metropolitan concert are superb! "CHOKE" is good place to start then just keep picking from that concert, that will keep you busy for a while.
