She had the added extra difficulty of being sick that night, and for her to give us this while ill is phenomenal. She is a true professional. Mucho Gracias Pau!

When, at the first chorus, the crowd threatened to overwhelm her voice, she just ran with it and visibly took the moment to catch her breath. It was like everyone in the audience collectively decided, "No worries Pau - we got you". And that thousand-watt smile spread across her face... what a magical evening it was!!

She plays this any time they do an acoustic show. She wrote this at the age of 13 about a family friend they lost to addiction. This song got me through my wifes passing from addiction I listened to 6-8 times a day for months after I lost her. I can honestly say I would not be here if it was not for the Warning.

All 3 were sick, but Pau was beyond sick. She was so sick they were about to cancel the show. But she was taken to the hospital and given meds to help her feel better. While she did feel better, she was still very sick.

The Show Must Go On! She gave kudos to the doctor that pumped some magic cocktail so she could perform.

Pau took an emotional song and made it strikingly beautiful with the accompaniment of the orchestra string section.

EW, I have to know, because this happens to me. Are there moments when your mind "hears" Dany playing the harmonics or her solo guitar parts like in the Dakota Bar performance even Dany and Ale's harmonies... even though they're obviously not actually there? I may be crazy... locura!
@ripmcmanus7732 ай бұрын
Pau's passion makes this song, and the texture added by the strings is brilliant. With or without orchestra, though, I don't think anyone else in the world could sing this in a way that brings tears to my eyes every single time I hear it. To say Pau is special would be a huge understatement.

Pau, as well as her sisters, have an incredible ability to connect and use so much empathy in performing their lyrics. At the beginning, the crowd began to sing immediately with her, and I think she was caught off guard. There is no doubt that TWA knows Black Holes very, very well...and this performance was during a more emotionally charged event anyway in Mexico City where the crowd was singing along with her in English. Wait until you see Breathe. You'll see just how moved and emotional she was during this part of the show.

A brilliant performance of a brilliant song. The string ensemble adds so much to this song (and, in a different way, to Enter Sandman). The musicians are members of the music faculty at a university in (I believe) Monterrey, and someone else associated with the music faculty composed the parts. From one of the fan vids, the string players were exiting the stage after Enter Sandman when Dany stopped them (IIRC she grabbed the concertmaster, the principal violin I) to introduce them. As one would expect from DPA, they weren't simply there to be heard and not seen; they were *people* who were part of the performance who should be treated as such. The violins and violas flanked Pau on the steps to the drum riser, while the cellos were on stage facing out very prominently to the audience. The combination of Black Holes, the interlude when they removed the piano, and Enter Sandman struck me as a mini-concerto for rock band and string orchestra (I'm also a classical music fan). Of course, Pau played Breathe here, but in Monterrey she didn't. Normally the first movement would be fast and the second movement (the interlude) would be a bit longer, but it's not unprecedented for the second movement to be short and hardly so for it to lead directly into the third movement. The interlude had structure. The short cadenza (solo) for the concert master then leads into Enter Sandman attaca (with no break). None of this is giving anything away, because there are posted fan videos with all of this.

For those that don´t know, all three of them can play the piano, these ladies are all real musicians. If you think was good, just wait till you see Pau perform Breathe next. If that doens´t bring a tear to you eye, there is something wrong with you.

She wasn't lost, not even rocky at the opening - the only word I can used is Overwhelmed but the wave of voices coming from the audience effectively took her breath away (she even 'mouths' to herself 'Don't cry' in Spanish). Imagine, being 21 and having the words to a song you wrote at 13 come back at you at that level of emotion and intensity. Black Holes is my 2nd favorite Warning song (after When I'm Alone) - but this singular performance is my favorite version of any of their live songs BECAUSE of the 48-60 mark (and then followed by Breathe which hopefully they release but I also would understand if they didn't. Cheers from OZ Joel - see ya next time 🦘

@fruitbat4429Ай бұрын
Really good to see you enjoying the track. Okay, I do agree with you, the opening is a little clumsy, as a you say, it's trying to fit too many words into too small a space. This one of their early songs, and think their inexperience shows. And yet . . . The imagery it invokes is incredibly powerful. A scarred young woman alone and wracked with self-loathing. It's a song both beautiful and horrible. I've said this elsewhere, if "Don't let me go" is sad, then "Don't hold on to me," is heart-breaking. If I'm correct this was TW's largest show (with them headling) to date, 8,000 people in their home country and they really pulled the stops out. FWIW I've always thought Black Holes would work brilliantly with just Pau and a piano, and it does, but having a string section just lifted it to another level. And what was really great was Pau taking in the crowd's reaction, and really getting a lift off of it. Vocalist, pianist, drummer and song-writer; Pau is a real Rock-goddess.

This song is inspired from the point of view of someone with addiction problems, the problem and the addict's desire to not continue harming the people around. The formidable thing is that Pau wrote it when she was 13 years old... That gives us an idea of how extraordinarily empathetic Pau is, as well as the talented genius we know she is. Thanks and greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️ .

As for the 'rocky' start, aside she being ill: take into account that a few seconds before she had still sat in front of her drum kit! I imagine that these two instruments are very different to play, so she taking a few notes to settle in is to be expected. Not to take away anything from Elton John, but I wonder if he could pull that off that easily 🤘🏻
