You got it 100% - Dany's verse is the "leader", and Pau is the follower, blindly repeating back the propaganda. There's a video from Dany where she explains how Pau stopped her in the middle of a Canadian grocery store aisle and dumped the whole idea for this song - including the melody - on her in a flurry of inspiration.

Paulina explained the song in genius lyrics: So Disciple is about social media and how opinions are bought on social media and are fed to us in a way that we don't even know. And how by breeding ignorance and cultivating hate people gain a lot of power and money. So that's what Disciple is about. I saw a lot of people confused with the video, like “why are you the system and you're telling people to kill the system?”, well we're not the system, we (the military characters in the music video) are Someone who is buying your opinion without you even knowing about it. So Disciple was a whole process to write about, but I'm so happy with the song and it's a topic I'm really passionate about, so go stream Disciple, go check it out, the video was so much fun to record and it's a good song, it's so much fun to play, I find it really funny that I'm saying that it's a good song, it's my song, but it was really one of my favorite songs to write, I put a lot of thought into it and Daniella and I worked relentlessly to get everything across, so glad people are enjoying it. - Paulina Villarreal

Welcome back! They are so much fun to watch on stage. They really do have the 'IT' factor. If you get a chance to see them live, just do it. You will walk away with a huge smile on your face. One thing I appreciate about them is the way they tackle social issues today. Not is a preachy way, but a questioning way that makes us think about it for ourselves. There are also often several ways people have interpreted the lyrics for themselves. Very good writing. This one is indeed a call and response. So cool that they can do that with each of them being such good singers. Really adds to the story telling for sure.

For your info. The concert at Teatro (Spanish for Theater) Metropolitan in CDMX (Mexican abbreviation for Cuidad de Mèxico - Mexican for Mexico City) had two halves. First half the girls wore black outfits. After *Disciple* the girls left the stage. They played the studio recording of their bonus track called *Breathe.* They change into their white outfits. Came back after changing & played *Dust to Dust* to start the second half. The two shows at Teatro Metropolitan was to showcase their recent released third album *Error.* Which was released by Lava Records when The Warning was supporting Halestorm, Pretty Reckless & Lilith Czar U.S. summer 2022 tour. They played the full *Error* album live except studio recordings of *Intro 404* (played that song as an entrance theme) & *Breathe.* Pau told Lava they can put *Breathe* on the album *Error* since Lava wanted another song with the understanding Pau will not play *Breathe* live. One year later at the Pepsi Center CDMX in front of 8,000 people. Pau performed the song *Breathe* live. Thought you would like to know.

Good to see you back. I was just thinking, on my drive home from work this morning, that I wasn't listening to enough of The Warning lately, but CarPlay makes it far easier to pick the most recent new additions to my library over everything else. 'The Sun is your enemy today'. Well, I've been staying home with my computers for over 40 years, so I was ahead of the curve there. Coupled with my 3rd shift job, and I need supplemental Vitamin D. :P The official music video for this song shows the sisters in paramilitary looking uniforms, with lots of foot soldiers lined up, waiting to follow their orders. But all of their live videos are SO GOOD!

A once in a generation phenomenon. My daughter and I flew down from Portland Oregon to see them live 2 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. Once you go down The Warning rabbit hole there's no way out, like Black Holes (which is one of my favorite songs of theirs).

Absolutely love intelligent reactors who dissect what a band is saying. Lyrics are as important as the musicality of a song. Sadly many forget that. The Warning experience is complete only after listening to their insightful lyrics. Their songs make us pause & think. You got it correct. Dany is the system & Pau is its blind disciple. Here is my take posted a long time back on another thread This song is about how social media controls us with fabricated info. Pau, the drummer, got inspired about the main riff in a Canadian supermarket in 2019. She came home, composed the 1st draft on her piano including the bass intro and called her sisters. They were 19, 17 & 14 then. That is why Dany, guitarist, starts the song as an antagonist with "The sun is YOUR enemy today" while Pau picks it up as a disciple in the 2nd verse with "The sun is MY enemy today". The sisters trade off lead vocals as demanded by the script. You can make out the difference in their vocal textures. Ale, the bassist, mainly harmonizes in the lower frequencies with infrequent falsettos as required by a song. The Warning are masters in composing in minor scales. Quite often they introduce a full sequence of major chords for the same verse to break the monotony. And that downward bend in vocals here is typically The Warning with this progression G Bb E A G#m . I mean G & G#m in the same sequence - incredible!!!

Yes, you picked up on it, where Dany sings, "The sun is your enemy today," and later Pau becomes the disciple with, "The sun is my enemy today."

Excellent analysis of Disciple. You probably got the meaning more spot-on than most reactors I've seen. If you are interested in seeing more from this show (all the songs are fantastic), I highly recommend watching Pau take the lead in the song "23" where she sings while drumming in a way that cries pain, loneliness and guilt in a true Pau-er ballad. The song describes loving someone who doesn't love you back (or doesn't even know you exist). Hope you can check it out!

You're right... And beyond the musicality emitted by the instruments, masterfully executed... Or the stupendous voices, each day more mature and better... Of the deep lyrics, inspired by their innate genius... And the paraphernalia of the "show", which achieves its goal... It's inescapable that this moves you from the depths of your emotions when you observe what the girls are doing in their performance. It's more than a pleasure to see how TW, DPA, really enjoys what they does, which seems to be a game that amuses them so much that they gives themselves up, contributing all their emotions and, at the same time, allows themselves to be the receptacle of everything that can transmit what's happening to them. happening around you, transforming everything into a virtuous circle of unsurpassed quality. Well, surely only surmountable by themselves. And they've so much mastered what they're doing that they only have to give themselves completely, passionately (as Latinoamericans know how to do), to what they like to do best and most, in a way in which they've fun and fully enjoy it. For this and many more things TW will conquer the world of rock!! INEVITABLE Thanks for reacting to TW.. Greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️

I love your reactions to The Warning. At this rate, it will take you about 3 years to catch up with The Warning's current catalog of videos, not including their fourth album which should be released soon. It is the reactor's dilemma. After finding a band that you love and would like to hear more of, do you pace yourself and deny the joy of experiencing their music, or do you joyfully react to them several times a week but at the expense of your large backlog of reactions? I am not a reactor, so I binge watched many of their videos and then saw them perform live!

Except taking this and that song from this concert I normally suggest watching the whole concert. Each song is special, each song is unique, each song is great. So why jump from one title to the other when you can see the whole damn thing (it's available)? Then you won't ask yourself questions about their changing outfits. You'll see how the songs fit together, you'll see the breaks. There are not so many bands nowadays where you can suggest exactly this (Nightwish and Epica come just in mind but there are certainly more). And after watching this concert at CDMX you're going deeper in the rabbit hole and find out that each concert of them is great and has quality. The only problem you have is: It is not recorded with this quality but the quality from The Warning remains - for everyone who has the privileague to watch them life just at exactly this time. If there is ONE concert I don't want to miss it IS a concert from The Warning.

*Disciple* is one of their songs about social media and how it affects people in ways they don't even know... Dany (guitar) sings the part of the "leader"... Pau (drums) sings the part of a "follower", "disciple", or maybe "soldier"... basically they're speaking about how people take what they see on social media and believe it, whatever it is... in this way, certain groups out there control the narrative and what is happening... i believe this is a cynical song telling people to think for themselves and not believe everything they see or hear... while the OMV was shot during the pandemic, all the extras in the video are IRL The Warning Army members... the wearing of the various masks works for the video as well as acknowledging the pandemic being a thing at the time of recording the video... then there is the dichotomy of the masks, themselves... the "disciples/soldiers" wearing just cloth mouth and nose masks while the higher ranked overseers are wearing full face filter masks... and then we have DPA/TW playing the upper echelon, the untouchables, with no masks at all... this ranked depiction of status makes a huge statement about social media in addition to what is already being said in the song... *XXI Century Blood* , *Z* , and *Kool-Aid Kids* are three other original DPA/TW songs that also speak about social media... the 1st one, XXICB, has an OMV that tells a story... it and the director were nominated for (and won?) several awards when it was released in 2017 when Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Ale was 12 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

While they change outfits and get a few moments to recoup from the first half's efforts, you get to hear a prerecorded performance of Pau singing the sombre and reflective Breathe. As time has gone by, I've come to realize that TW is all about being a vehicle for THEIR SONGS. No current band I'm aware of writes great songs one time after another while demonstrating how to perform them. One correction, while Dany does guitar breaks, she does not do guitar solos. Her solos are performed as written, not done impromptu. The proof is that they are played the same in every performance. Ale, whose voice is much softer, wisely lets her sisters take on that role most of the time. People need to stop asking/wishing for her to sing more. She's one of the best and hardest working bassists in rock and getting better every day. TW has one of the biggest, baddest sounds in rock-almost a miracle for a trio-and she's a big part of it.
