In an old VLOG, they said that they tried to make this song longer, but every time they changed it, they made it worse. Finally, they lust left it and said, if you want it longer, just play it again. Good advice.

Nice! Not practicing. This was done for the (DE)Tour virtual concert which was to raise money for independent venues. Lzzy Hale, Slash and Ringo Starr headlined. They were so impressive that they were played twice during the concert. Lzzy Hale tweeted that she wants to take them on tour. Jason Flom, head of Lava Records, introduced them. The Warning Army blew up the comments. They were pumped as they had just signed their big record deal and had upgraded cameras and mics in The Warning Cave. Today they returned home from NJ after mixing and mastering their third album.

This song is without a doubt, their masterpiece to date. It may only be 3 minutes, but the song is absolutely flawless. There is not a note out of place. There is no fluff. The composition is absolutely perfect. When they went into the studio to record this song, the producer tried to rewrite it, claiming it was no good. I have heard the producers’ version, and I must say it was absolute shite. I am so glad the girls stood their ground. I agree with you on Ale. She is a special talent.

This is really a band built around live performance, they’ve been doing it for many years now. Dany and especially Pau are naturals at it. Ale’s had to learn more of the presentation part, but she is coming into her own more now. I think the audio track here is better than the studio version, partly because Dany’s a better singer now, she’s more solid in the high notes and richer at the low end.

Awesome reaction, Dave. You crack me up. I am surprised I am not on that list that also requested this song. LOL They have stage presence for a few reasons. First, 6 years ago they went to the Berklee School of Music, in Boston, for the 5 week summer program for teens. One of their teachers was David Ellefson, Bass player for Megadeth (Who still follows The Warning, BTW. He even posted a video on Instagram congratulating them on signing with Lava last August). The biggest thing they learned there was live performance. Next, in the Warning Cave, the wall opposite them is all mirror. They watch themselves and practice their performance. They also practice things going wrong, like dropping a guitar pick, or the click track going out, or a broken drum stick, etc. and have a natural sisterly communication with each other. They can just give a look at another and they know what is meant. Lastly, they are very genuine, funny, charming, intelligent, charismatic people and they love and appreciate their fans. And their fans love them back. You can feel that when they are on stage. If you watch their Quarantine Show from 10 months ago, they are in the same room performing to their mother, father and 2 cellphones, streaming on Facebook and KZbin. It is one the most entertaining shows you will see on the internet. They played for an hour and 38 minutes. Their were 10,000 people watching that livestream. You are right Dave, they have "IT", in spades. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGjOmXiopKiIZsU FYI, Ale now has her USA Custom Spector Bass, handmade in Woodstock, NY and it is Gorgeous! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqKZomionqyXmKc Spector is also going to release an Ale signature series bass called "Golden Thunder". On your 1st pause, you get a real good look at those "fanned frets" on Dany's guitar. The only two frets that are true perpendicular to her neck are at the 12th fret. That longer length allowance for her bottom-end strings, lets her tighten them tighter when tuning, That way when she hits them hard, they won't wobble out of tune.

@@THEDavidHeretic There's a video you should check out of TW playing an encore with Moderatto (who they opened for) here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5ipqqGrotp1Y5o . It looks rather like Ale was teaching their bass player how to move on stage (as Dany once said to Ale in a different context, "you can DO it!"). After a while he started tentatively taking a few steps (not to mention that she looked to be playing the more interesting part). Pau really stole the show, though. Freed from being behind the drums, she went wild as the frontwoman. On Moderatto's song, no less.

As others have pointed out, this actually was a performance. I believe I've read that it was single take for the audio, but multiple video takes for the different angles. The point about practice like you're going to perform is well taken, regardless. The better part of 30 years ago I was in a club talent show, playing something (gavotte from Bach cello suite #6) on my viola...quit on that for about 20 years after job change made it impractical to play in any of the local community orchestras, but then this band actually inspired me just recently to start playing a little bit again. I certainly did a lot of practice on it (I estimate that I ran it through about 800 times, plus breakdown), rehearsed it multiple times with the little skit I had to do as part of it with my teacher, to the point that during one of those where I made a mistake and recovered cleanly. But the one thing I didn't do was rehearse it in my tuxedo. I normally wear T-shirts, but the tux of course is a lot thicker, which changed the depth between my chin and my shoulder and I didn't adjust my shoulder rest to compensate. Which resulted in my playing being awkward. I got through it, but not to my satisfaction. Back to the song, Dany and Pau did an acoustic version of it at the piano for a patreon request. The first time I heard it I didn't care for it; I like a lot of their acoustic work, but that one felt like a misfire to me. I went back a few days ago and listened to it again and had a very different opinion on it. It had a classical, I'd say later Beethoven, feel to it that wasn't due entirely to the piano, and it came across as brilliant (and Pau added a couple of surprises at the very end).

Re: practice. Yes & no. When you're _practicing_ (technical exercises, just learning new material, &c.), you need to concentrate on the music alone, so you _should_ sit, or whatever it takes to make you comfortable. But when you get together to _rehearse_, then--THEN--you nailed it. You HAVE TO rehearse as you intend to perform--because, like it or not, you ARE rehearsing as you WILL perform. They can tailor exactly what the audience will see and hear before they even get there, and like you said, this is an essential part of the performance to practice these moves regularly and perfect them! ..and they've had a helluva lot of 'practice' with the plandemic and all.😜 Fortunately, they've had a great diversion with recording their new album in N.J. these past several months. They *JUST* got back to their home in Monterrey, MX. yesterday after playing (literally just having fun between sessions), in 2 feet of snow in NJ.🤣 The recording, mixdown and mastering are DONE! We do the same thing actually, we have 3 spots we rehearse in, and one of them has full length mirrors spanning 12 feet high by 5 feet wide, and they go about 80 feet across the wall so we can watch our blocking and movements and timing and motions. Any band that wants to be visually appealing honestly needs to use mirrors when they rehearse.

Hey Dave, I'm digging your reactions, love the honesty and intelligence in your commentary. I can see you understand how good the girls are in terms of timing, song writing and performance. Yeah, their songs are relatively simple generally but technically and emotionally its fantastic stuff and such energy! Tremendous performance in this song here. Remember most of what you have heard so far is material the girls wrote 2 - 4 years ago. Even their forthcoming album which I am sure will be a step-up is material they had ready over a year ago. "Simple" is way underrated in a lot of fields, not just rock or indeed music in general. I'm a software engineer, and I cannot count how many times I've seen somebody try to be very clever in how they do something in a way that only makes their code more complex, slower, and harder to debug. Is their music something any of us like to listen to and would pay good money to see live? By whatever means, they've hit on some way to write and perform really enjoyable music. As John Bonham put it, "I think that feeling is a lot more important in drumming than mere technique. It’s all very well to be playing a triple paradiddle, but who’s going to know you’re actually doing it?" (www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/why-led-zeppelins-john-bonham-didnt-worry-about-drumming-technique.html/). We're not in disagreement at all, just felt the need to get this off my chest.

They were actually introduced by Jason Flom of Lava/Republic Records/ Lzzy Hale even joined the live stream and said rock is safe in their hands and later on twitter said they should tour together Link to it: twitter.com/LZZYHALE/status/1294889194528047105 EVERYONE says that song is too short lol When they attended Berkley School of Music in Boston they say one of the best things they learned was how important stage presence is and they have taken that to heart no matter if they play in front of thousands or at home for fans just on camera. Ale just turned 16 in december, Pau just turned 19 on friday(5th) and Dany turned 21 on jan30th They also have officially finished mixing their 3rd album in NJ so any month now it should be released and hopefully a new song or 2 before then ^^ anyways other TWA will say stuff to so great reaction/review thanks bud be safe cioa for now

Hey, David. New sub here. Great reaction. Loved it. Love your other The Warning reacts too. After a shaky start I'm so glad you gave them another listen. These young women are a phenom for sure. I'm a former musician myself (I was a drummer for many years. Had to stop due to back problems). I was always a classic rock guy, the Beatles being the first band I got into and who inspired me to become a musician. Then by chance I saw a react vid of our girls and fell down the rabbit hole. They made me excited about music again, like The Beatles did when I was ten. I owe them a lot for that. I don't know if you've gotten requests for Nightwish, but they are another band that got me excited about music again too. They're a Finnish symphonic metal band with a Dutch female singer named Floor Jansen. And God, can she sing. Do yourself a favor and check out Ghost Love Score official live at Wacken Open Air 2013. You won't regret it, I promise. Love your vids, man. Keep up the great work!! Regards from Illinois from a Native New Yorker. 🤘😊🤘

They do practice like they perform.... the wall they're facing during this is all mirror so they can perfect that aspect.

That is THE best way to do it. We always rehearse our shows in front of mirrors, so we can see what each of is doing, and how it looks compared to everyone else. PLUS....it's a great way to see who's slacking and call them out on it...and they can't deny it because we al saw it, which adds to accountability.
