There were 8000 of us in that room the night this video was shot in Mexico City. The sound was huge. Fun thing about this song and the vocal backing tracks. The audience has very much now taken over the role of singing those with the band. I just got back from seeing them do three shows in Nottingham, Liverpool, and Dublin. The audience is very familiar with these vocal lines and really sings along with gusto. It is great to be in that kind of crowd with that level of engagement.

I was at the Dublin show, up in the balcony. The sound was immense, especially Ale's bass on Sharks! Second time seeing them, and can't wait for the third in London in April.

@@EdwardRLyons I too was in the Dublin balcony. The sound up there was fantastic. Yes, Ale's bass in this album really shines (and pounds) on this album as they play the songs live. Great to see. Totally worth my crossing the pond to see them.

If you want to know what eqipment each of the girls uses, check out the videos they did on the Digitial Tour Bus channel where they each did a rig rundown. Their concert sound engineer is Lalo Plaza who has been with them for several years and is a genius.
@mjc13892 ай бұрын
The problem with that is that they change up some of their equipment frequently. Ale has likely added another pedal to her rig, Dany has incorporated Fender guitars and Raven picks Pau has a second snare…all just for KMF as an example. I agree that it would give the basics though.

It’s outdated already for Dany , Dany has changed her main guitar for most the songs in the new album and it’s not on the gear rundown upload

Glad you enjoyed dipping into some of his other videos too. Has both the music theory knowledge as well as being a skilled musician himself.

Yes, Pau (drummer) runs the click & stems thru Ableton on a Mac Book. She has start & stop pedals so she doesn’t have to fiddle with the computer. Also has controlled the video screens in the past.
@elgonwilliams76242 ай бұрын
On the studio version of the song there is a slight delay on bass and guitar coming in at the beginning, using the upbeat. As they never do this in concert, I think they have rearranged the live session a bit to synch with the drums. FYI, Paulina, the drummer who usually initiates the composition of their songs, is a huge fan of classical music. So, I wouldn't be surprised if that was an influence on this song.
@wolfgangwalk3372 ай бұрын
The emphasis though stays on the upbeat - if only slightly. I sometimes use this to have an easier time getting into the groove: playing a somewhat more silent bass note to then hit the upbeat emphasis with precision. Sounds a bit like cheating, but it's obviously a legit choice you can make: sounds awesome.

I would be interested in you reacting to videos that each of them made showing their live rig rundowns for a KZbin channel called Digital Tour Bus. Another fantastic song of theirs for incredible guitar/bass sound is Automatic Sun and there is a video of them playing this live on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

David Bendeth produced *Error.* Anton DeLost was the principal producer of *Keep Me Fed.* I'm sure some of each of their sounds are incorporated in Dany's current programming. The 08/29/2022 Teatro Metropolitan show was done with the rigs the ladies describe in the Digital Tour Bus breakdown videos. By October, 2023, when HYCAD at Pepsi Center was recorded, they had been working with Anton on several songs. Their tools keep evolving...

She also did say in an interview that they would love to have musicians back them but they are not in the financial place where that is possible. BTW, there are gear videos for each of them.

I believe that's why they as songwriters have an advanced (subconcious?) sense and understanding of complex melodic and harmonic movement, and a broader pallet from which to draw when writing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/epeYgYivoZxjgZosi=c6BNWLvfN1yCq0qX kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmrNnIaIZa6khNUsi=8CQA7QN4HEr3qQSz Both Dany and Ale' (Guitarist and Bassist) play saxophone as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6ClnoB9msR-eJosi=upHN7t-IWU8F88C1

I’m not sure that Dany uses the expression pedal on her Kemper for tuning changes, since she frequently switches out guitars with different tunings during a set. I think she primarily uses the pedal for octave shift. She programs different distortions and effects (like delay and octave shift) sent through a second channel to fatten the sound for each song, and depending on whether she is playing a verse, chorus, or solo. Thanks for the interesting breakdown. 👍😎

Pau's timing is crazy. Like the wizard, her kick and sticks arrive precisely when she intends. The pocket is huge. And yes, the bass is very loud and stitched into the drums. Again, Ale's timing is when she wants it. Standing in front of the band, it's 110dBA+.

If you really want to have some fun, check out their song Automatic Sun. Dany uses a baritone strat tuned to drop A Ale also has her bass tuned to drop A to go with it. The official video is live footage with studio audio. If you want to hear live I would suggest the MTV Push video of them playing live in studio. They also did the song live on Jimmy Kimmel, but that mix is pretty crap. Drums are thin, backing vocals are really low and the bass is almost absent. It's like all the show cared about was guitar and lead vocals.

The ladies are big enough at this point to have a guitar tech and Dany goes through a half dozen guitars with different tunings and sounds every show. No need to tune between songs or use 'tricks' to down tune. As someone else said, this song was new when they performed it here so the backing track "ahhs" stand out. Now-a-days the crowd do the ahhs and the backing track takes a back seat. A very popular song off their newest album.

The majority of fans think they sound huge for a trio. Rarely can you hear them as a trio. Watching their latest "acoustic" live set ppl could get an idea of what parts are missing. For stage, Dani can also do a lot of doubling and cabs with stereo Kemper programmed settings as you know. You'll find Queen of the Murder Scene song and album more interesting, as there are many key changes and Dani singing over intricate riff-age. Again, not much for guitar solos, of course.

You are not wrong about QOTMS. So many key changes. So many riffs that in no way match the vocals.
