The guest drummer is Beto Ramos, Pau’s drum teacher. He is the drummer of the Mexican rock band Jumbo. He was formerly in Los Claxons which includes Pablo Gonzalez, Ale’s Bass teacher. They wrote this song in 2019 as an answer to critics who complained that they don’t write songs in Spanish. Those critics were mostly local Monterrey rock bands who were jealous of TW and had not progressed in years. They called TW malinchistas - a Mexican Spanish word that means cultural traitors.

How many 16 year olds have the guts to stand up to her critics & tell them to shut up instead of cowering away? Fed up with constant barrage from a section of the Mexican press about why they only sing in English, Pau wrote this acerbic riposte. The girls then presented the 1st draft to their mom for grammatical check in Spanish. Legend has it that Mony asked them to tone down the vitriol as she was afraid of the backlash her daughters might receive. However, Pau's presentation of Narcisista remains vicious till today. You can see how Pau used her left hand to gesticulate theatrically to emphasise "Porque tú, no sabes nada Because you don't know anything Corres la voz y no te callas You run your mouth and don't shut up Me tapo los oídos y simplemente digo I cover my ears and just say" Cherry on the cake is when she rubs it in with "No soy loca ni Malinchista" or Neither am I mad nor Malinchista. Malinche was an Aztec (Nahua) woman who helped the Spanish conquerors in taking control of Mexico some 5 centuries back. Hence the term Malinchista for a woman who prefers foreign people, culture, goods, etc. over her own roots. A cultural turncoat if you like. Ahh...the delicious irony of time when on 16th June 2023 some 500 Spaniards joined Pau & her sisters to sing Narcisista and exactly those words for the 1st time in Madrid. The conquered have become the conqueror now.

There's a real irony calling people malinchista for not singing in Spanish, of all languages. But I doubt very much that the complainers realized that. Judging by the videos, the Madrid crowd was singing so loud that they drowned out Pau's and even Dany's vocals at times. And not just Narcisista and Martirio.

@@robertkrawitz8237 Same when they played in Lima Peru last year. Of course, it was true when they played in Berlin also for a crowd that neither Spanish nor English was the first language for the majority. As has been stated elsewhere, Music is the language.

Released in 2019 as a standalone track, it was their first song sung in Spanish. It was written by a then 17 year old Pau in response to their critics who attacked them as cultural traitors for only writing in English. The live debut of the song in their hometown of Monterrey is one of the bands finest moments imo. The video is on their channel and titled "Narcisista - THE WARNING - En Vivo en Foro DiDi Monterrey".

They've been dropping songs from this concert literally daily lately, to include "Evolve"...which is one I've been patiently waiting for. Check it out. You'll love it.

Reminds me of when Lars Ulrich came out from behind the kit to sing a song. Drummers have a lot of pent up energy. It's really cool to unleash them on an audience.

Pau could easily be a frontwoman herself. That's her drum teacher, Beto Ramos. Last year with Halestorm, AreJay Hale came out to play a song so she could go up front. Don't make Pau mad. LOL. This song is the response to the criticism that they didn't have any songs in Spanish. Some of those critics calling them Malinchista(cultural traitor). This came out in 2019. Since, they have recorded another song in Spanish, Martirio from the Error album, also played at this concert.

The show AreJay played was in Tucson. You could see how much fun they were all having on the last night of the tour. I caught them in Phoenix about 6 weeks before the Tucson show, and while both were great, the energy in Tucson was off the charts.

Good point about being able to open for such diverse bands, and don't forget Halestorm and Three Days Grace, which are very different also. And all of these bands appear downright eager to have The Warning on their bill and have come back for more. Or I should really say More. Three Days Grace brought Dany out to sing Painkiller last November in Canada, and they met up again at two festivals in Germany last month, and brought her out again; the other bands have booked them for parts of two separate tours each. I'm seeing them again a week from Friday in Boston. Only my third time, which pales before a lot of TWA (at least one fan has seen them 40 times).

You are absolutely right about the versatility of The Warning in bringing groups like GNR & Muse, that are poles apart, onto the same page. Their music appeals to a diverse crowd. Narcisista was premiered at Foro Didi in 2019. Here is a link of that performance with English subtitles uploaded by a kind soul. Fellow Floridian here. I love this band and have really, really enjoyed your reactions to them. You make so many good points about them and their music. They’re always awesome. Glad to watch your comments. The last year, they did headline a ton of shows, with bands like Plush and Holy Ward supporting, but the venue sizes were smaller. I agree that they’re going to be packing larger and larger venues, soon. Thanks!

They consider each other best friends and they like being with each other. Family and friends are the most important to them. Music is secondary to them. Music doesn't define them, they use music to put out the message THEY want regardless of what others expect. I stream a college metal station WSOU Seton Hall Pirate radio and the metal music formula for the most part is extreme vocals and mixing of genres to try and sound different instead of just playing straight up in your face music. Gets old when just about every song you're being screamed at.

I call them stadium-ready because every song is so well crafted by the 2nd minute you feel like singing along even if it’s the 1st time you’ve heard it. Very AC/DCish but with deep and profound lyrics

It is clear now the group has two great frontgirls with Dani and Pau. Yet i suspect Ale would also be as good a frontgirl as her susters if she could break her shyness. We already know she also has a good voice too.

I am friends with a record store owner that sells everything from books t records, cassette tape, eight tracks, 45s and even collectables.
