IDK, but I think everyone in Mexico knows this song by now. It hurt them on a deeply personal level that their critics were calling them "Malinchistas", basically cultural traitors. And it's funny, but when they performed this in concert over the past year in the US and Canada, many in the audience were singing along with them in Spanish. There were even shows where they had a guest drummer sit in so that Pau could come out front and sing. One was Pau's drum teacher, Beto Ramos, at their show in Mexico City at the Teatro Metropolitan. The others were toward the end of their tour as openers for Halestorm where Arejay Hale honored them by sitting in at Pau's drum kit. So, they truly are cultural ambassadors of their language and culture even though almost all of their songs are performed in English. Their other officially released song in Spanish, Martirio, is one of the most moving pieces of rock music I've ever heard. You really don't need to understand the lyrics to be hit directly in the "feels". At the end of their second show at Teatro Metropolitan, after all the amazing crowd participation and outpouring of love they received, Pau was moved to tears and buried her face in Ale's shoulder as she received a hug from her "little' sister. Being accepted by their people for what they do and love to do is that important to them.

Malincista is a Mexican prejorative, used against people that have a preference for American culture over their own culture. It is a reference to La Malinche, who betrayed her people by assisting the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. It is an extremely loaded and powerful term, by the sounds of it. The way Pau uses it in the chorus to throw it back in the faces of their critics is stunning. She's fearless. Their lyrics are as strong as any other aspect of the band. And given that they are typically written in their second language is amazing. This was their first song written in Spanish. They've since written another, Martirio, which is also very strong. I don't speak a word of Spanish, but both of these songs are favourites.

This was their first time performing it live (that’s basically what Pau is saying to the crowd during the intro). On a personal level, it was my first live Warning concert, in their hometown of Monterrey. 🇲🇽❤️. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Been to about 20 shows since. I’m a Warning fan for life.

@@Immortall1408 Yes. Pau was rather upset and replied with music. They actually roped their mother in to proofread the lyrics before they performed this. What I really like is that this is a very classy way to respond to criticism and that even Spanish speaking people sing along when it is performed in concert. My Spanish is poor & while I have been in Spain I have never gone to Mexico but my understanding is Malinchista is not normally used outside Mexico and adjacent countries.

This band means more to me than any other I have ever encountered. After many unsuccessful attempts searching for a band that moves me to the core, and is a proper fit for me, The Warning entered my life, and renewed my love for music. But it was more than just music that they offered. Nobody else had the real heart felt drive, the honest and natural talent expressed with vocals, instruments, and genuine integrity I was lacking. They never had to "Sell" me their goods, as their goods sold itself. I wasted so much time and effort, giving to those that never truly appreciated it. They took took took, but never gave back anything of real substance. TW ladies changed that, and was there for me when I about gave up hope. They didn't brush me off like others that used me like an ATM. Instead they supported me with kindness, passion, and reignited that candle made of pure hope, asking for noting in return. I say they have already reached greatness, and anything from here is just icing on top. 🤘❤‍🔥🤘

Apparently her mother, after reading Pau's 1st draft, was reluctant to let the band play Narcisista in public. Great reaction, Pau is my favorite drummer, she is super versatile, composition, singing, show and obviously how great she is with her instrument, by the way the song is not a big finger in the middle as some think, it is like a subtle way of saying that she does not care about the things her critics say but in fact she never offends them or anything like that.

You can practically see Pau seething in anger as she sings this publicly for the first time. At the end, Dany is asking, how'd you like that? Such a rock n roll response to a bunch of jerks. This one is in my top 2 - 3 The Warning songs of all time. I can't see it being move out of there either.

In some parts of rural Quebec, Canada, where the white people speak French, there is a similar sentiment towards those who learn English because they will turn their back on the French people. I love The Warning for opening my eyes to the culture of Mexico, beyond the slanted views of movies, tourism and news reporting that make it to Canada.

I'm portuguese and it always amaze me how clear sounding is the mexican spanish compared to spanish from.my neighbour country of Spain. I understood every word she sanf even when i dont what they mean.
