I think it is adorable that Pau speaks so precisely and never uses contractions. It's always cannot or do not instead of can't or don't. I think Dany has the most detectable Mexican accent while speaking English (even though it is minimal). But, Ale seems to be the most natural English speaker, to my ears anyway. I look forward to more of their rig rundowns here. BTW, Dany also has one where she goes into more detail about her pedal board.

Bear in mind that at many concerts Pau uses rented drums because carrying her own may not be possible. I’m sure she has input to what they rent, but her team makes sure she gets something that she can play. She usually uses her own cymbals and cage. The purpose of the cage is to keep her drums in one place as she hits them so hard the could move out of place.

@@JohnLnyc She rented when they played Tijuana this year. When you don’t see their logo on the drums you can be sure they are rentals. This year they traveled most places in La Wawa and a trailer and were able to carry her drums with them. But I can assure you that in Colombia and Peru the drums were rentals. In many years past, taking her drums to a concert was not logistically possible. Drums don’t work as luggage on air lines and shipping can be difficult and lengthy.

Really glad that you decided to react to the rig videos I suggested. Learning a lot from your knowledge. FYI to understand why Pau says "I was right!" at the beginning of the performance, watch the performance of Shattered Heart from the same show until the very end. 😉Also FYI Red Hands Never Fade is one of the few songs from their previous album that is still part of the regular live rotation to this day.

Still a few they throw into a live show (QOTMS, Hunter, Dust to Dust and even older Survive and When I'm Alone), but Red Hands pops in as you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestion as I loved the Dany video from recently and now this one as well. It is nice to get a musician's perspective when gear is the topic.

@@steveherman6909 I have a feeling that the reason they keep Red Hands never fade and Hunter in their current rotation is that those are the songs Ale can sing lead so in case Dany gets sick they’ll have those two songs ready for Ale to sing that’s what I think but I might be wrong cheers

Love all the tech stuff. Pau is a wizard. I have seen a lot of reactors saying the girls have a guitar backing track. Dany and Pau explained in one of these videos how Dany's pedal board can split the sound and have a slight delay on one channel with a different sound and maybe reverb or something added. So although it sounds like 2 guitars it is all Dany live
@JohnLnyc Жыл бұрын
Bryan Pau is running Abelton Live. She has the entire show on a hard drive. The “stems” she references are effects, additional guitar parts, keys etc. Unless Dany is looping guitar parts and playing over top your pedal board explanation doesn’t work. You must be referencing Fil from Wings of Pegasus who identifies a second guitar playing in the background as well as a piano. He is highly complimentary and lauds the clever and very subtle use of backing tracks. I listen through very sophisticated system and clearly hears what he does. The Warning is using technology very smartly to enhance their skillful musicianship.
@phsjockstrap Жыл бұрын
@@JohnLnyc Danys pedal board has its own computer. I watched the video again and they explained that she can make it sound like 2, 3 or more guitars are playing by using delays and splitting channels from her pedal board, she does mention that her pedal board also is linked into the Abelton on Paus computer.
@JohnLnyc Жыл бұрын
@@phsjockstrap Not sure why you are concerned. Can you link the video?
@JohnLnyc Жыл бұрын
@@phsjockstrap Found it I think. Dany rundown of her Line Six Helix. First, that Line six is a sophisticated pedal board allowing various tones and effects. It can not allow a single guitarist to simultaneously play two completely different guitar parts. Second, The Warning runs a backing track via iMacs running Abelton live controlled by Pau. She triggers it via foot pedals. It runs a click they all play to. It contains “stems” (Pau talks about it during her equipment rundown). For example in “Disciple” there is a piano track and a second guitar lead playing over the chords. Obviously Dany recorded it and it is triggered by Pau when she starts the song. You can hear it. You can hear the piano. Other songs add stems. These are not Dany’s Line Six. As Fil notes it is very savvy use of technology.

@@JohnLnyc do you play guitar? Any amp sim these days can split the input and pan left and right in realtime. When recording, you're gonna play the riffs twice, but when you're playing live, you can just split the input and add a tiny delay to the one side to mimic the effect in real time. The Helix is basically an amp sim in a pedal board. That said, they definitely use some alt lead backing tracks etc on some songs, because you can't play two things at once. But the sound from the main guitar parts that might sound like a track because it's stereo are just split and hard panned left/right with a

I really like hearing your breakdowns of all the tech stuff! I'd like to think I have a pretty good ear for music and rhythm, but I know absolutely nothing of hardware and music theory and the like. I love that you're able to share your knowledge without bias, and without saying they should use this or do that instead. So thanks a lot for that! As for the song, it's a killer as always. There's no end to their talent and to all the little details that they're able to put into their musicianship that add all up to a monstrous performance, every single time.

Old school people talk down bands that use computers and click tracks and supplemental tracks etc, but it's just old thinking. I like that The Warning, despite having played live from an early age, never backed down from that and simplified their music. They could've done the early Green Day thing with one guitar track, one bass and drums, and nothing else. They still made complex parts that are tough to sing alongside, they use piano and alt lead guitar tracks etc to keep the songs sounding just as full as they do on the album version. And as you have said in previous videos, that's not easy. I don't get why it gets looked down upon, because if you mess it up, EVERYONE will hear it. If you mess up the timing of a backing track, it's painfully obvious to everyone in the venue. Yet The Warning rarely run into those problems because they've been playing live on stage since the oldest were barely a teenager herself, let alone her younger sisters. They have more live stage experience than just about any band their age, and it shows!
