hahaha awesome title for Pau!!! yea.... I was thinking "I'll just make a short video of all her best clips". But I just gave up and went with the first few amazing ones I had handy.... I will probably end up doing several of these videos for each of DPA... they all have so much of interest to highlight. But really, Pau is so extremely diverse in her talents that it will be impossible to ever summarize her in short videos.

in case you see a thumbs down about your comment, I hit the wrong button LoL. fixed it! Cool - a drummer! Yea that's great to hear.. I agree completely - I play drums, but am not a particularly highly trained or practiced drummer.. I know enough to know how to play what I want to play sufficiently for recording my music in the studio, but I also know enough to know how amazing great drummers are. I will be dealing with her other talents/skills in future videos

When Pau's face is pointed at the snare drum, but her eyes are staring straight at you...... holy crap!!!! I love the PauCam at concerts. So much we don't see/hear is totally exposed to us. The way she floats all over her kit amazes me. And the fact that all three sisters are playing and singing to perfection........icing on the cake!!

well said! Yea, there's no way to summarize her in a 2:30 minute video. I tried.. and I gave up. There will be a LOT of these videos about DPA, and Pau will probably dominate the content. Even just her drumming clips are so diverse and amazing that I could completely ignore her piano playing, singing, songwriting, operation of the band's live show computer system, and then even her personality, funny moments, dancing, there's so much... I just want to introduce these women to the world with brief, catchy, videos. But it's challenging when they are such complex people.

yep - from the point of view of audience entertainment value, Pau has the right kind of chops to do it. Ale has insane chops but it's practical bass playing chops - not showy I'm a bass god chops designed to drop jaws of non-musicians... only bassists like me. And Dany, she's got crazy chops, but is not at all into improvising in public IN HER OWN BAND. With literally anybody else? yes she'll do it, but not in The Warning. There's gotta be reasons they have, and one thing I do like is that it always leaves us wanting more!

Don, I am really enjoying these. I love that you added the Arctic Monkeys clip at 0:24. One of my favorites from Pau. Pau the Great! The Freddie Mercury of drummers. We are not worthy of Pau!!! Seriously, its not just that she is technically proficient, she is a human magnet. She draws your eye and then slays you with a Kubrick stare and thats it, you have been Warned! If you watch enough reaction videos you will quickly realize that the first thing people say is " that drummer is amazing " or " i love that drummer" . Thank you Don-Music. Although I had already seen practically all these videos separately, it is very convenient to be able to see them all in one. A question Don-Music. Although we celebrate and enjoy the Villarreal sisters' musical mastery on their respective instruments, in addition to the fact that it is an essential element for their success, it seems to me that in the long term, what can make them transcend is more their compositions. Of course, their ability, their mastery of playing their instruments will be a theme for other artists, but for the public it will be their compositions. To give a few examples, the ability to play the Beatles or Franz Liszt opaque against their legacies in composition. What do you think?
@don-music
@don-music Жыл бұрын
yes I completely agree. In the short term, during their current rise to infamy, their performance, their choices, heck even their appearances are what people notice a lot. But their songwriting is a large part, although not the only part, of what sets them apart from their competition. For example - Halestorm. AMAZING band, Lzzy and her brother are incredible talents and performers.... the greatest! But their song writing is good... just, good. imho. lyrically they aren't often too deep. There's a LOT of that out there.... but Lzzy's performance sets her apart, really. Dany is new Lzzy, kinda, but with much more desire to have depth and meaning to every word sung. And I mean, Pau and Ale? As performers alone those two are my favorites to watch of all drummers and bassists. Period. But again - the songwriting - like The Beatles... that will be their legacy, and it deserves to live on.

Nice!!! Wish she would do a solo in concert, doesn’t have to be long, couple minutes. Same with Ale and Dany. Maybe that’s old school I don’t know. Halestorm does it but their drummer goes on to long. Some solos are just to long in my opinion.
@don-music
@don-music Жыл бұрын
yea same.... maybe when they get to become the main attraction more and more in coming years and have the luxury of more time. That one clip was from when there was a technical problem in a live show and Pau just went for a grooving drum solo.... the only one I'm aware of in a live concert.... but there should be some planned organized thing. Hopefully one day! She'd probably want to compose it, knowing her... rather neil peart like in that way... super genius

They have a good sense of proportion with everything they do and don't overdo it. That 6 minute drum solo that Arejay did was a bit OTT, and those giant drumsticks are a gimmick, too big for him to really do anything interesting with. It's the same kind of thing with Survive vs. Free Bird; the jam out in Free Bird is entirely too long, while Survive is perfectly proportioned.

It's not their style, but wouldn't it be interesting if they wrote a song for each of them that allowed them to really cut loose with their individual talents? Dany playing an extended blazing yet melodic solo, Ale with an exposed fiercely cross-genre bass line, and Pau going off with some unimaginably outlandish tempos across the kit (including of course the Paubell).
