The best part of the your reactions to The Warning is your reaction. You didn't mention the fact that Pau was drumming in heels I guess you can't say you've seen that before since most drummers are male, ha ha. I'd love to see you do a reaction to Ale's bass playing of there cover of Muse - Hysteria @ Liceo, I'm not going to spoil it but I need to see your face when you do.

Yeah this was an early video from January 2017. They were 17, 15 and 12 at this point. The Ale dance, as I call it, was just starting to form. When they perform this song now, Dany runs all over teh stage. Sometimes climbs the drum riser, sometimes she dances with Ale. Ale will often come front and center for that closing. When I first found them, this is the first original I heard of theirs. Pau's poise in dealing with the broken stick, and the hookiness of the song inspired me to explore more. I haven't stopped yet.

This was January 2017 at a TEDx Talk conference in Reno. They were 16, 14 and 12 at this point. They performed three songs and spoke between songs about not giving up on your dreams. Many, many fans were introduced to the girls by this performance and that jam at the end particularly grabs your attention. It is from their first album XXI Century Blood. Oh, and it should be no surprise that Pau breaks a lot of sticks.

The three of the mare classically trained pianists, they started out playing piano very young. Pau and Ale started when they were about three, Dany a little older at around five. It was only after being introduced to the video game Rock Band that they became interested in playing other instruments. Pau was about seven when she started to learn drums Dany was around 8 when she picked up guitar and Ale was about 7 when she started bass. The crazy thing is they never started out with the intention of starting a band they just gravitated to their instrument naturally. Dany also plays the sax and Ale wanted to learn to play the harp.

When we say TW are "classically trained pianists", what do we mean by that? Does it mean the family paid for a "Master Pianist", a virtuoso to tutor the gals? Or does it mean they were tutored by a local piano teacher? I'm only looking for accuracy here, not being critical of you or TW.

Love your in depth reactions! Got a question . . . I'm no musician but I've read a couple comments in some reactions that Pau doesn't need to hit the drums so hard . . that you can still get the same sound with a different technique. My take is "so what" . . isn't she trying to entertain and put on a show for the fans? The energy and passion that they all play with is the biggest attraction to me. Pau is mesmerizing to me . . . for that matter Dany and Ale are too . . . they're just freak'in amazing!
@THEDavidHeretic
@THEDavidHeretic 3 жыл бұрын
Hitting drums too hard is like hitting a tennis ball too hard. Yeah it's possible, and you really shouldn't.....but in the heat of the moment a lot of times it just can't be helped. Obviously you want to play with proper dynamics, so you shouldn't hit the drumheads as hard as possible when it's supposed to be soft....but when it's time to get loud, as long as it's blended well with the rest of the band....I've never had a problem with it.

I read in some comments below other The Warning's videos that Pau took the "idea" of the two hi-hats from Rush's Neil Peart (great drummer, by the way). Indeed, if you watch the video of a live performance of "Tom Sawyer", you can see the two hi-hats. Long live rock 'n' roll and long live The Warning!

There are many shows where they used this song as their closer or encore. I have seen other people reacting to the band, mention Pau as the most impressive member of the group. One more thing as mentioned in other comments they all started playing the piano and, Pau does most of her writing with it. The 3 girls credit Pau as the one that starts the songwriting process for most of their song and once he has something good enough, they all work together to iron out the rest of the song.

Nice! TW have always rented the drums because of the logistics and cost of transporting her own kit. She usually brings her own cymbals and at closer venues to their home her drum cage. She is supporteb by Sabian and uses Vic Firth sticks. At home she uses dw drums. There is a Pau Day IG where Pau explains all this.

As usual, enjoyed your honest review and analysis. I know you usually don't comment much on the lyrics (and I don't always pay that much attention to them myself), but it's kind of funny that when they wrote this break-up song that a lot of women can probably relate to, Dany was barely a teenager, and I'm pretty sure none of them were speaking from personal experience. :D Another song featuring Ale doing intro on keyboard and Pau singing lead is there rock ballad The End from the Queen of the Murder Scene Album. Super honest reaction, gotta love that 👌 Also some clever drumming right there, I like the double hi hat setup with a closed hi hat on her right and open peddle operated to her left, just left wondering if Pau has created a new style of open handed drumming with the left handed snare and hi hat hits. I’m not a Les Paul person (335 all day long), but Dany has great tone with that one 👌

@MaddogJones 3 жыл бұрын
Because it can be awkward to engage and disengage the hi hat clutch many drummers (myself included) like The Rev from A7x rock a second hi hat that is fixed closed and the other controlled by the pedal. Pau is all about breaking traditions and finding her own way to rock, Ale and Dany too, always experimenting and learning. This is the performance that hooked me. I respect your score but I bet if you watch again you'd increase it to a value closer to 9 if not more. We really need to show you some of their really early stuff like; HYSTERIA - MUSE COVER kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIaVZ6qjoatmr8k . This was recorded at their school in Monterrey Mx, a gender segregated Catholic school just before they went off to Berklee College of Music in Boston for the summer course... That's where they started to develop their stage presence . Anyway you'll be mightily impressed by the 10 tear old Ale ripping that crazy bass line!

If you want to see Ale playing some piano, go to The Warning's KZbin channel and scroll all the way down to their earliest videos as there as some piano recitals from all three way before Enter Sandman video. So excited about this band, didn't get to experience development of some bands like Rush Zep and Floyd because they already had so much material out before I got into them. Anxious to hear new material coming SOON!

Hey David, something I like to mention to reactors is that you have to take into account when these videos where made as part of their progression, which you did at the end of your review. This performance was a part of a TEDx at the University of Nevada right after the release of their first Album XXI Century Blood, they were Dany (16) Pau (14) and Ale (12). Queen of the Murder Scene followed a year later. Hopefully in a matter of weeks, yet to be named TW3 is due to be dropped, we are hoping at least a single and again you are going to see a further progression of their music. This Album is the first one for Lava records as part of their 5 Album deal, and it has been produced by David Bendeth! I actually heard a snipped of one of the songs called Martirio, their 2nd. Spanish song and let me tell if was solid piece of music, showing how much they have progressed in their sound and musicianship! Good job on the reaction, your comments were solid and true, keep it up!

Hey, Big D! Wut up? So, like Little Gene when she was more "little" than "Gene"? 😄 You can actually see her progression into the Gene stage persona. "Atlas Rise" from the Cave shows her moving into it a little more. I'm not sure where it was on film she went full blown into it. The opening for Stryper was probably one of the earliest. I know of several drummers who've done the two hat thing. I did it myself. It's a way to face forward as you said and still play the hat, like you were playing the ride. And double bass players do it so they can get the closed hat when they're double kicking. Anyway, another great react. LMAO when you had the squealing pig sound effect bit. 🤣 Take it easy, man. Nice analysis. I like the more technical aspects of your reviews, even though I don't play any of the instruments in question. Subscribed. That song is my own personal favorite and is really what drew me in. That performance is old and is not my favorite, although it has become the reference performance; there are newer ones, such as kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKLUaJerrMR7adE (at the Whisky) that are IMO much better; Pau does the opening like someone's really pissed her off and is about to become a human drum kit, and all three of them go completely wild at the end, after Dany fires up the afterburner. They've also rejiggered the opening (which reminds me more of Broadway than anything else). For some reason, it doesn't seem to be their closer "now"; it's the kind of song everyone can go home happy from. They're famous both for having technical problems (e. g. Pau and her stick) and even more for powering on through no matter what goes wrong. Ale got a bit over-excited once playing this and ripped the cord out of her bass and left it unrepairable; Dany went over to take a look (still playing, of course), they decided very quickly there was nothing to be done, and Ale kept soldiering on, singing her backup and clapping into the mic to drive it along however she could. Impressive presence of mind -- in front of 20,000 fans, no less -- IMO for someone 12 years old. And another when Dany's acoustic guitar wasn't working on Crimson Queen, so she simply pulled the mic off the stand, went to center stage, and sung it more or less a capella. As for the vocal tradeoff, they do that in Sinister Smiles also, when Pau sings the good person and Dany the evil. They also did it on Atlas Rise, which IIRC you reviewed. Gives them a lot of flexibility and variety. Their music's obviously really, really top notch. Their professionalism is right up there with it. Likewise their support for their fans. Not a lot of better bands out there to glom onto.

The audio's useless here -- this was a cell phone on stage that then passed through Instagram, so the video quality's also -- but this is what it's all about. Watch Pau turn it up to 12 over the final 25 seconds of the video, and earlier Dany and Ale dancing.

Anyone here know the name of a song where it's an 80's song and there's a woman singing while Phil Collins is on the drums? I completely forgot that singers name.

I was wondering, what's the easiest ... Lovebites, The Warning, Band Maid getting a 9.6 or ACDC, Rush, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden getting a 10. You understand where I want to go ... (Criteria be the same for a band with 5 years of road and another with 20 years), considering that you analyze all the content and concept.

Reaction suggestion. RARE Band Maid. Warsaw 2016, One of their early international concerts. Polish birthday song for Miku. Funny Miku omajinai time. Song Yolo, which they no longer play. It's on the MinoDMC channel under the title "BAND-MAID # 8, Warszawa - Polska, Warsaw - Poland, Hydrozagadka 19.10.2016" I'll try to post a link below.

@@THEDavidHeretic Yes, that is from their fall 2016 tour. Not a large venue, but they played a lot of really small places in Japan in the early days too. Their first concerts outside Japan were in the spring of the same year. Hong Kong was one of them. There's a good clip of them doing "5-11-2016 Band Maid Live in Hong Kong - ALONE" Easiest way to find it is look for my "Band Maid (live) - I" playlist. Alone is the seventh song on that list. It's off a smartphone, with vocals that are pretty drown out. (It does start out sideways, but rights itself after a few seconds. It's not that bad.) Good tight performance though.

I won't boo you even if I don't agree. That's what it is. I think you overrated it though. It didn't grab you at first and it still really doesn't grab me. Ending groove is cool but it's so obvious there is a backing track. Have you heard the riff that ends Exterminated? They sound like daughters of the mighty Sabbath but the riff ends too soon. Kind of like Dull Knives ends too soon. This end goes on a bit long for me. But hell - I'd give it a 7 because I have yet to hear a bad Warning song. They are the finest band of sisters ever. 2nd place goes to Larkin Poe and I guess Heart is a distant 3rd unless there's another sister band I've yet to discover. And yes she's Little Gene in moves but I call her Little Geezer in playing and how she dresses in her leather jacket lately. Rock on DH.
