Great reaction. You’re right about the camera angles and editing. Ale just killed that bass and it’s a treat to hear her sing. Pau’s energy is over the top. I love how Day’s voice has matured since, but this is a treat. And the Dany face was even great back then!

This song, playing it or listening it is therapy for me. It’s a stress relief. Pau is on point and the tightness of the bass drum with Ale bass line is Fuking ridiculous. The flams at the beginning, the use of the bell on the ride then to the crash, the speed of the fills, the pause, even the openness of the high hat, everything is on point. Danny guitar tone is so close to the original and playing that lick while singing 🤩 it’s ok if only a couple of times but to continually play it so it sounds consistent all the time, yeah wow. Never heard of mission souls until I found your channel, yeah you’re not wrong. Major difference I think would be they have talented parents as well. Damn Mama bear can sing.

This video was probably shot just after their first TEDx appearance. They performed The Pretender there too along with two of their early songs, River's Soul and Exterminated. They were already very capable musicians and singers and were writing songs for their first compete album. They had only a single camera, so the song was performed four times to get all the camera angles. They kept the audio from the first take.

The Pretender - Foo Fighters cover this video was shot in a lot on a hill outside their home town... they took 4 takes and they played the song completely through each time... the audio is from the first take... the other takes were done for the additional camera shots because they had only one camera to work with... today there is a house on this lot... imagine taking a walk in the valley behind and below them and hearing this reverberating through the hills from somewhere above you... i mean 🤯 this is also the only time you'll see Pau singing into an overhead mic instead of her headset mic she uses today... Very nice cover, one of mt favorites. I heard that they took two takes. One for the overall sound and band, then the second pne yo get the special in close video. I believe at this point it was still basically their patents running the show. I think this was prior to them bringing in Rudy.

Pau has said in interviews that she has learned how to tone down her drumming so that she physically will not wear out. That being said she still is a very hard hitter!! (Lots of fan cams of her breaking her drums 🤣)

They needed to pause their Detroit show back in September because Pau's kit tapped out. A couple of minutes & some good-natured sisterly ribbing - plus a classy nod to their stage crew - and they were back in business.

We all know picking favorite songs for them is virtually impossible (they’re all so damn good) so I won’t even try. If you don’t run through from the beginning to the end, try starting with The One, The Sacrifice or Hunter. Just make sure you get the whole intro to D2D.

At that age, they were still as good as, or even better than some of the best bar bands I've ever seen (or played with Lol). It seems obvious to me why their cover song era went over so well (and why it might have so hard for them to break out of that mold)... Also, my favorite part of this video is Ale grooving and bobbing her head. It reminds me of the first time I saw my son jamming to music while in his car seat. Haha

This was 8 years ago, so Dany would've been 16, Pau 14, and Alé 11. Dany and Pau look pretty much the same today. Alé on the other hand has had a dramatic change.
