This song is not actually part of QOtMS. It was a song written by an extremely homesick Dany for a songwriting assignment while they were at Berklee. Beautiful song, performed heartbreakingly here :)

I was thinking why is he talking about the Queen when this isn't the same album? I think when I first got into The Warning hearing everything live, I assumed this was part of that album and had similar thoughts as this guy has...then I realized it's a totally different album.

One of my absolute favourite TW moments is Dany doing acoustic version of this in giant venues and thousands of people singing "When I'm alone" together. Kind of sums up TW in a lot of ways. Irony and tears and happiness at the same time!

Zack, I've heard all their material, many times, and I think this is one of their top ten songs of all times. Great inspiration - stuck in Boston, speaking English most of the day, for five weeks, with family, but with a hectic schedule and people around her who had entirely different cultures and work ethics. They were all homesick for friends and food, and Dany wrote this for an assignment. She's said many times, when the emotion comes out, a song comes out. This one is personal for her. She lets loose on it. *Crimson Queen* from QOTMS, is hers, too.

Awesome moment when your crowd got her all choked up chanting, "Dany. Dany..." in front of a hometown audience. Another shining example of how the work they have put into sharing their music with the world means to their fans. More specifically Dany in this instance, though it wouldn't surprise me if Pau and Ale felt the love as well.

As I understand it, they were away from home, away from pets, away from friends, at Berklee College of Music summer session learning music in a foreign language (English). One of the assignments was to write a song. Dany was frustrated and not able to come up with any ideas. She did a blog kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZa5Yol9mtFnoqc segment and that inspired her to write about her loneliness. I often wonder about how her Berklee classmates respond when they see her perform this song. BTW, Pau and Ale find the song boring because they have so little to do. The acoustic version is perfect because it truly is only Dany's song. This version is one of my favorites because of the crowd interaction. Also they performed it at their 2017 TEDx talk.

I always enjoy your reactions, Zack. When I'm Alone is from the XXI Century Blood Album. The Lunario CDMX concert (2018) is mostly songs from Queen of the Murder Scene with other songs mixed in. The Teatro Metropolitan concert (2022) is mostly songs from the Error album with other songs mixed in.

*When I'm Alone* *When I'm Alone* is Dany's song... Ale and Pau accompany with only their instruments... no harmonies or backing vocals... the blacked out solo beginning and ending with Dany alone in the spotlight is beautiful and quite fitting for this song and what it represents... Dany wrote this when the girls were at Berklee Music College (aka BMC) in Boston back in 2015 attending the summer session they offer(ed)... she got very homesick and also had a homework task to write a song... she hadn't any ideas, time was running out, and being homesick was devastating... she recorded a teary vlog about it... afterward she realized she could harness the emotions and pain she was feeling to write her song... i haven't heard what grade she got for it but many of us hope it was an A+... Dany has also stated several times that when she writes a song, it is from her heart and whatever emotions she is feeling at the time... so here we are enjoying this truly heartfelt song of loneliness and heartache... speaking of Berklee Music College, their concert at "Liceo" (basically Spanish for "learning place" or "high school") had multiple purposes... for one purpose, the story is that they needed something to submit to Berklee showing Ale's and Pau's chops and how well they played their instruments... this because both of them were less than 15 years old which is/was the age cut off for the summer program they were wanting to attend... so each of them chose a song to show off their talents... IIRC, those songs were "Hysteria" for Ale, "Everlong" for Pau, and "Crazy Train" for Dany... apparently BMC accepted their submissions because all three girls attended at the same time... while they were there they did vlogs to send to Ellen DeGeneres to keep her and her show up to date on how they were doing while at BMC... this because Ellen and Target gave each of the girls a check to help pay for them to attend the summer session at BMC... In later concerts, Dany does this one alone. Pau & Ale aren't even on the stage. It's incredibly powerful. Not only was she a homesick teen when she wrote this, I've read she was also feeling the weight of being the mother figure to Pau & Ale while all 3 were at Berklee.

There is one version, relatively recently where the others go offstage and Dany does the entire song with just her and her acoustic guitar. It is a more intimate version of this old The Warning song. Still, this was an excellent version. I like it much more than the original 2016 version.

Huela Melon! You should check out her version from Guadalara in 2023. Just Dany and her guitar, with a great talk to the crowd in the center, in Spanish, but that shouldn't be a problem for you. There is no official video from The Warnings channel, but several good fan cam videos, my favorite from Orlando Sabogal. Another great reaction Zack!

You know, it's funny that this isn't even on QOTMS, But because he thought it was the way you interpreted.It actually kind of works. I. Could see this is like a prequel just showing the depths of the queen's depression and loneliness. It explains why she became so attached to someone that even remotely paid attention to her. Initially , it was hard for me to think of it that way since I know it's about danny being sad , but what a way to think about it , huh??

This song has been performed many different ways, from the short Dany solo intro to a longer intro like this one but last Fall they did a series of shows in Mexico where they did a few interesting things including Dany playing When I'm Alone by herself sitting on stage playing and electric acoustic version. Yeah, that's why I always post links of full concerts, so people know what's up. At the Lunario, she performed this track which is off XXI Century Blood in between chapters of QOTMS. This is one of those rare songs that actually comes from personal experience, as opposed to consuming media, which influenced many of their older tracks. Actually, you like, you can catch a wonderful version of this song pre QOTMS era at the 2017 Ted Talk performance.

Lighting was perfect too, with the sole spotlight on her in the beginning, and then the spotlight stayed on her at the end for a few seconds after the other stage lights had gone out. Dude this is not part of the QOTMS saga! You've dropped the ball on the QOTMS story. Shame. It really has to be done via the LUNARIO concert for continuity - and there are, like, four songs in that concert that are not part of the story but, oh well, any WARNING songs in whatever willy-nilly order is always a good thing. I hope on your own time you can take on the QOTMS saga properly to really appreciate this concept album that is so masterfully written, - it's a frickin masterpiece!
