The warriors were hunted by injuries and many of them were serious ones. KD achilles, Klay two leg injuries, Curry breaking his hand, Draymond nagging injuries etc. People were quick to judge them and write them off, and now when the core of Steph-Klay-Draymond is back and fully healthy all they need is to have a few solid pieces around them to become the major contender. If Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and Kevin Looney can continue to p,ay up to their potential, and if they can develop James Wiseman into a reliable big man, they could still contend for titles for the next few years.

For everyone who slanders James Wiseman, consider this stat: James Wiseman has played 836 total minutes for the warriors in his first two NBA seasons. Wiseman is very young, and there's plenty of time, and Looney also had a very slow and very injury-plagued start to his career, and look at him now. They have a great scouting department to find those significant guys late in drafts or undrafted, Kuzma, Caruso, Clarkson, Zubac, Hart, are all impact players that were found late in the drafts. But they panic and deal too fast. Hell, they win a championship and changed half the roster the very next season. Imagine had they not traded for Schroder, they were targeting a guy like Desmond Bane with that pick before they traded it, imagine if they would’ve trusted a coach to Integrate their system like they should’ve with Tyron Lue who would have the balls to tell AD to play the 5 and develop Kuz into the 3&D player he’s currently developing into that would’ve been the perfect 4 to the James and AD 3 and 5. Or appreciated guys that had been committed to the franchise that weee unsung heroes like KCP? But noooooo, they always gotta panic and make a big move for the sake of the big move, not for basketball. However, if they happen to be playing the Warriors, they're getting a demonstration of how the game SHOULD be played, while their "superstar" is tapping out. What Steve Kerr and the Warriors have proven is that a TEAM of highly intelligent low ego players will beat a "superstar"-centric team-ish collection of petulent little boys. Listening to you reminded me of the heyday of Barcelona. They also chose players with a specific type of DNA: good with the ball and intelligent on the field. And the most important part is the "Tiki - Taka" or passing the ball as much as they can and holding the possession and then pressing. Granted they had the best player of all time in Lionel Messi, but it was their youth academy "La Masia" which gave them home grown talent for success. Now compare them with Golden State, they also drafted well(kinda like home grown talent) chose players with a specific type of DNA and having a dynamic style of play. Give props to GSW management team! My word the people in this franchise knows exactly what they were doing and what they needed. Giving KD and acquiring DLo to trade him for Wiggins hands down was a chad move. Steph, Klay and Dremond being the core of Dubs and building a team which compliments everyone and not revolve around only one player. Honestly we are watching a dynasty reclaiming their throne again.

💯. GS fan since 1989 here! Let me say I NEVER wanted KD I was hella mad that GS emptied their bench for ONE DUDE! 😡 HOWEVER I love KD as a player. Always have even in OKC. KD is basketball poetry. So once he was here I was excited! I didn’t want him to leave. TBH It’s really sad that things have come to all this BS. Because real talk, people in the Bay loved KD we accepted dude with open arms and all he wanted to do was hoop so he fit right in. I wish we could rewind and keep him or change the way he left.

Kevin Durant is my favorite player and it does suck to see the warriors make it back to the finals without him. If they win this year, KD’s 2 rings will be widely diminished by everyone. He has a lot to prove still. Steph will be top 10 if they win again

Honestly, to get passed Lebron and Kyrie, I think the Warriors probably needed KD. Nowadays though, there is really no one in the East that can beat the Warriors with the addition of Wigs, JP, GP3, and the rest of the cast of characters. Looking forward though, I'd say the Warriors have a window to 3-peat if they can stay healthy. Warriors got lucky with picks and Steph being unselfish early in his career.

The Golden State Warriors are good because they built a team around the team concept and not simply one or two all star class players. The Warriors have a balanced offensive and defensive mindset that is integrated into getting talent from the top to the bottom of their roster and they did it without overpaying for talent or hunting for free agents. I do think the Celtics are the closest team to build a team with overall talent, but their depth is weaker on the bench.

And with James Wiseman coming back next season, they'll finally have a lob threat pared with draymond. I've seen way too many lob passes from Draymond to looney and then him just landing back down and getting fouled or stripped.

Wiggins is perfect for them and I hope he stays, he always seemed happy to be there even before the chip he would always say that he loves being there and they are a family as if he's been there his whole career so that to me spoke volumes, I also heard he's very close with Draymond and their kids are close as well. Sometimes it takes the right situation to make you happen and bring the best out of you and pushes you to that next level because clearly we all knew he was very capable of this easily🤷🏽♀

One thing, Wiseman is not a replacement for Looney... Something that's so awesome about GS is that each player brings something unique, while still fitting in. That provides GS an enormous amount of flexibility to play a style their opponent can't match. That means they can go big, go small, attack the basket, or shoot 3s. GS has built a roster to do everything. Wiseman is the same thing. Looney is a very traditional big that sets picks. Wiseman is a stretch big that can *hopefully* be more athletic on defense as well. Looney's importantce comes against teams like Denver. They just need someone to bruise with Jokic for 20 minutes a night, and Looney does that.

Outsiders never understood what made the Warriors so great to begin with, they drafted young talent and traded for veteran role players, I can’t understand why anyone expected Wiggins to fail with the Dubs when all they needed was a wing, he doesn’t have a ton of pressure on him which gives him more of a chance to shine
@Peakfreud2 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone not Named Mark Jackson understood... To be honest.

Wiseman is training with Dejan Milojevic. He trained Nikola Jokic. Joe Lacob wanted the Warriors to draft "The Joker". He has an eye for talent. The Warriors took two years to develop Jordan Poole at an easier position than center. Wiseman, as told by Draymon Green, didn't even know how to set a screen when he came to Warriors. The Warriors offense is very complicated. Wiseman sitting and learning is the best thing for him and the Warriors. Bill Russell, Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul Jabber were all 22 when they entered league. Jokic was drafted at 19 but didn't play for the Nuggets the year he was drafted. He stayed in the same league he was in that year, working with Dejan. Sometimes you have to let soup simmer for it to really really good.

GS went from rock bottom to the top. They knew they needed to have some changes in their roster, and the sky is the limit for them. This organization is competent and patient. Not all teams are like that. They gotta commit to their players, coaches, and staffs. I do not like their fans, but I am happy for Steph (if they are gonna win the chip, I hope he is the Finals MVP) because casuals always think he is not a winner just because he does not have one. HE IS A WINNER.

GSW only got to bottom bcoz Klay was injured. And they got the #2 pick for it. And really this really just proved that Warriors got KD just to beat Lebron. No guts really. GSW would've beaten the Cavs even without KD. And GSW even had the guts to trash talk then SMH.
@PichaPiProjects2 жыл бұрын
@@dobz746 yeah, Klay getting injured was one of the factors they went bottom but don't forget the fact that kd wasn't happy with them and age was starting to come over for the role players. GSW had to press the soft reboot button.

Wiggins only had 1 teammate senior to him that demanded perfection and that was Butler who was the worst example of the leadership needed for a personality like Wiggins. Steph, Draymond, and Kerr put Wiggins in a comfortable place to grow and fit what he could CONSISTENTLY play.
@Trejohnsmith2 жыл бұрын
A lot of people don’t talk about that. Even Kat is finding himself and is a top 5 big man and the best shooting big man and Wiggs is the two way wing we all knew he could be. Sometimes tough leadership is not what’s needed because everyone is different.

That's just unfair. With Durant, they were arguably the strongest team ever formed in the NBA while now they're not even favorites to win the title. If Durant stayed in Golden State, they'd be decisive favorites to win both last year and this year.

KD is always an insurance for them. Not the driving force. They always use KD as an alternative scoring option when their shooter have off night or when they attract too much players to guard them, opening the space for easy bucket. Same like a springy shock breaker in a car. You don't necessarily need it to be able to drive, but it damn comforting to have it for just in case scenario where you go to uneven road. But he is not the engine, not the steering wheel, not the transmission, not even a tire. Putting him alone as a main guy in GSW wont make them be able to play the same style & system as the GSW we know with plenty of pass & off ball movement. It would be just your turn my turn iso ball. Because he's just not that dude.

I'll take the L on the Wiggins trade stuff. It seemed like that was the path they wanted to take. Poole becoming the secondary scorer they needed kind of made the adding another star at the cost of wing depth thing a bad move.

GSW "big three" obviously needed quality defender & 3-pt shooter at the small forward spot to succeed. Quality means at least borderline all-star.
@KingstonHawke2 жыл бұрын
Wiggins has always been nice. He’s not Durant (obviously). But he’s basically a better version of Barnes, who played a huge role in their original championship run. A wing that can really defend, can finish on the break, can shoot that corner 3 consistently, and can randomly get hot and go for 30… how many of those are in the league? Mavs would willingly pay the max for someone like Wiggins.
@chrishanson79112 жыл бұрын
Credit to the Golden State braintrust they saw the same things I saw of Andrew and looked at the films. Yes they saw a overpaid player that was a undervalued by Minnesota.I believe once KD decided to leave and go to Nets and knowing Minnesota was interested in Russell who they overvalued to keep Karl happy. Russell was just the chip to get Wiggins who they wanted from the get go.I knew Wiggins was going to fit perfectly because his skill set and physical attributes filled a void or blind spot and did not overlap other players on the team.
