The Watch I Wore Most In 2020, By 30 Members of the HODINKEE Team

3 жыл бұрын

In what has become an annual tradition around here, for our final post of the year we polled a selection of HODINKEE team members to find out which watches saw the most wrist time in 2020. Some you know well, and others you probably don't; the HODINKEE team has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years, and we're excited to share the watch-nerd insights of some of the lesser-known members of the team that keep this ship moving.
And because this was a year like none other, we did it a little differently this time around. In this year of video communication, it felt appropriate for you to see and hear our team members tell you firsthand about their most-worn watches of 2020. This includes editors, customer experience associates, designers, photographers, and more, and even a few of our colleagues at HODINKEE.jp.
For the full story, go to www.hodinkee.com/articles/wat...

The watch I wore most this year is my Tag Heuer, Formula 1 Chronograph, on the bracelet. For me it’s the perfect every day, and every activity watch. I can swim in it, exercise in it, dress it up, and dress it down. It was given to me as my highschool graduation present in 2018 and there are very few days that have gone by without it being on my wrist since. As a student, it’s not too flashy to wear on campus, and not in your face, which is another reason I find it to be the watch on my wrist most of the time. It’s a tank and is ready for just about everything. Size and weight are great, even for my relatively small wrist. Thank you for reading :)

I rotate a lot, but I guess my most worn was simply the G-Shock G5600E. I put it on every time I'm running, walking, cycling or working out, and frankly a lot of the time when I'm just hanging out around the house. It does pretty much everything and it's small enough not to get in the way. When I want to enjoy something else I change to that, or when I want to pair something with an outfit. But the humble square G is an easy pick up from the watch box for the times when function goes over form or emotion. :)

Does Ben not fraternize with the underlings? Why didn’t he participate?

I thought it was perfectly fine for Ben to not participate, maybe even to give more screen time to the team. Ben is the lifeblood of Hodinkee and it’s nice to see this expanded team. Doesn’t always have to be this weird dynamic you called out.

@@fakeplstctrees21 he lost me when I watched a video in which he talked down on people trying to get discounts on watches. That’s when I knew he was all about his own pockets. Bartering, negotiating, and bargaining are a part of our DNA. What a moronic, naive and/or self-serving thing for him to say. 🤦‍♂️

@@fakeplstctrees21 I remember watching the video of them talking about buying them together. I thought it odd that they’d both be able to grab one. But that’s the nature of Rolex right now. It’s who you know. Sad but true. They’re using the pull anyone would use to pick up the piece they want. It’s misplaced anger to a degree. It’s Rolex who isn’t meeting demand. Can’t blame someone for using their pull to get the piece they want. My opinion anyway. That doesn’t mean that I like Clymer or drank the hodinkee kool-aid. I take it all with a grain of salt.
