My father was a huge fan of Fraiser as well. He's responsible for my watch addiction. at least somewhat. I'll always remember the day he gave me his 1963 Omega Seamaster. I felt like I'd won the lottery...and then I was off to the AD, then the internet and then taking a trip with the intention of buying a watch I couldn't get off my mind.

Great video as always, TGV. I was in New York the weekend before last for the opening of an art exhibition including my work and wore my Seiko Kinetic Sports 200 which has accompanied me on all my most precious experiences since purchasing it for £325 back in 1996 . . . experiences including magic days on the mountains of my native Scotland and where I now live in Vancouver with my kids . . . and now another show in New York makes it even more precious to me. You're SO right when you emphasize that emotional connections trump every other aspect of watch ownership.

Great video highlighting a style of watches that does not get as much attention. Love that you just don’t talk about one watch from one brand, but cover a more wholistic view across brands and eras. Inspired by that photo of Keanu Reeves with the Elipse, a little over a year ago I picked up a Rolex Cellini Danos. Rose and white gold with the black enamel dial. I have an 8 inch wrist so I needed a little bigger version of this style to work for me. It has become one of my favorite watches in my collection. It is not an every day piece, but I find it is more versatile than just a dress watch.

It's always great to see how you progress on your watch journey. I'm an ancient Gen Xer who was always interested in watches and these designs really resonate with me, even if they're not my taste, exactly. I'm more drawn to the sports/dive watches of that era or the dress watches of the 60's instead. A really informative and fun video, nonetheless.

Thank you TGV for sharing your thoughts on classic watches! Indeed, their beautiful fade and patina are captivating. However, maintenance can be a concern. Have you ever sent your watches to the original brand service? I don’t recall if you’ve discussed this before. Some people consider maintaining watches an investment in longevity, while others view it as a potential loss compared to buying a new timepiece. What’s your perspective?

The brown dial Omega is lovely, I do like the fact that you can still get some Omegas at more affordable price points in the used market. My personal favourite is the Constellation ref 168.047 with the green dial - they're beautiful and suit any occasion or style. I like it enough that I bought two, one is near mint and the other ... well it's something that can be worn without concerns.

Enjoyed this focus on ellipse dials. My current daily favourite, on my wrist right now, is a beloved 70s Longines mechanical ellipse-shaped piece with a champagne dial (extremely similar in silhouette and slimness to the Omega you unboxed). She's seen some things (the lizard strap is worn but holding on, the crystal could do with a polish) but she's too pretty for me to call her a beater. Really love the slim profile and how minimal the design is (and the very finely embossed Longines crown). Currently on the lookout for a worthy understudy for her.
