A star-studded, who's who of British cinema features in this delightful tale of a young street urchin, Tom (Tommy Pender) who unknowingly helps petty crooks (James Mason and Bernard Cribbins) rob a rich country house. As Tom escapes the police by jumping into a lake, he is transported to an under water cartoon-world where he has to help others find safety in order to redeem himself and return to the above water world.Also features Billie Whitelaw, Joan Greenwood, David Tomlinson and the voices of Jon Pertwee, Lance Percival and David Jason.

It took me years to discover that this was a movie. When I was growing up my Great Grandfather was pretty much the only true family I had besides by parents and he’d always tell me bed time stories. I distinctly remembered one about Water babies and I decided to search it up just now because I thought maybe it was written down somewhere. I cant wait to watch this and have it as a memory of my Great Grandfather.

Oh my gosh! I watched this when I was about 8 years old ( now 46) and and only now found out the name of this beautiful movie! I missed it so much! I remember only a part of a song since I seen it, it went something with "we are the children of the (something)".. I would love to watch it again!! ❤ thanks so much for uploading it ❤ now I know the name of the movie

The water baby lullaby is my favorite song! I had doubts after winning the vhs at a school drawing. Omg I never would have known the masterpiece behind it!

I remember in elementary art class, me and my class got to watch this film. Unfortunately we only saw half of it and never finished the rest for some reason. It was until 2013 on a vacation to Solvain California did I finally found the film for myself. And I loved the conclusion of the story! I do wish for this film to earn recognition outside of the UK and Poland. I was lucky to have known about it for all these years!

I remember going to see this at the cinema when it first came out. even have the original vynal L.P. of the story including all the songs and the story part narrated by UK national treasure Bernard Cribbins. It includes 2 songs that have since been removed from the film. It's still a favourite children's film of mine.

Was Tommy pender’s voice as Tom dubbed over it sounds like it to me or overdubbed. It doesn’t like him in some other stuff I’ve seen him like the Thames television show you can’t be serious 1978 - 1979 I think it was.
