In a group of waves, Ψ(x,t) is represents a set of amplitudes of wave. So for any kind of wave, intensity is directly proportional to A^2. In Quantum Mechanics, Intensity means frequently observing the particle in a particular place. That is nothing but Probability of finding the particle in a particular place..
