eshana1anam i seem to recall it was a radio three play maybe 9 years ago? i recall the sound effects, which for me ruined it to a great degree. it is shame that radio 3 which once was once a quality arts channel feels the need to provide this kind of easing for the audience. yes, i've just heard the announcer at the end, who i am very happy to say sounds like a bona fide radio three announcer, and one of the actors is Janet Suzmann, which chimes with my memory. i'd put money on it. a radio three sunday play, they were always nice and long and quite demanding, like proper art should be!

It is an audio dramatisation, possibly for BBC Radio. Would you complain about a film (which is another form of dramatisation) of a book excluding all the descriptive narrative?
