I've been using this a lot recently after realizing it distorts stuff. I put it on my master once and I saw it crushed the whole thing, but it sounded louder and more compact (glued). But now I finally know how it works thanks to this video, I'll make better decisions.

If u set all time constants to 0 in maximus u have multiband distortion plugin 😁😊

Forget the distortion inside this for mastering. It widens the drums so they smack HARD rly powerful

Distortion and saturation are a hell of a drug!

@ScaleAudio it's unnecessary. Just pull the dot in the middle up it instantly boosts ya sound 🤷🏿♂️

i appreciate this video. i've started looking into foldback distortion and i like the sounds it can produce but the Waveshaper is just classic, easy to use. #FLGANG

should i only be using this for low end type instruments or should I use it for all? i usually just use it as a sort of volume enhancer until I discovered this video
@ScaleAudio3 ай бұрын
You can use it for anything. Individual instruments, a whole mix, vocals, bass. You just want to understand the characteristics so you can better use it where you see fit.

How would u use this wave shaper in a plug-in chain ??
@ScaleAudio2 жыл бұрын
Really depends on what I’m going for. It adds upper harmonics so I could use it later in the chain to brighten something, if used harshly it has a compressive or limiting type effect so it could be used to put something distorted and in your face, but maybe that made it too bright so I can eq and cut the highs after. Maybe use it last on a mix bus and do light saturation. Totally up to you 💪

I will put it on the list! I haven't been as active or dropping as many videos as I should, so in the meantime, here is an in depth of maximus if you are interested! kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6use6Sqj9lrjNk

how is this different from EQ
@ScaleAudio2 жыл бұрын
Eq changes amplitude of the specific frequencies you choose. Wave shaper changes the waveform itself which causes the adding of harmonic frequencies farther up the frequency spectrum.

It’s the on board soundcard of my G5 laptop. I usually have my interface hooked up though which is a 1st gen Scarlett 6i6.

@@Yll-Beats interesting, maybe drivers? Did it come with software? Could have something to do with the settings/configuration of the software or even the hardware.
