Picked this plugin half-off a week ago or so. it's been great for making pads and your tutorials have been indispensable

Ok this is cool. I initially thought the randomize button only changed the vector position of the sounds that were already loaded into the patch. I had no idea that it actually changes which sounds are loaded there so that is really cool. Thank you sir, always look forward to your videos and music. 😁

Hi Thought-Forms, wanted to thank you for making this video. I think it's unique and it's refreshing to see a channel invested in showing off cool technology from a bygone era and not pushing the community to buy new and crazy expensive gear. We all appreciate it. The cultural references behind these videos are fun too. Please keep it up! Lastly, I bought the wavestation plugin after watching this and like you i've had so much fu n having it randomize sounds for me. Take care!

Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words! Not a huge fan of many new VSTs / Hardware, so it's easy to look past it all :) Great pickup on the Wavestation VST, can have endless fun randomizing. Cheers!

Great video! I've rarely used that randomized button but now I think I'll start playing around with it more 👍

its hit or miss, and honestly more miss than anything - but every now and then you get something super cool and usable!

Does this feature also change the envelopes and volumes or is it basically just the waves/waveforms? I know from my experience with my JV1080 and the Triton/Trinity that a change of the waveform/PCM alone can drastically alter the timbre of a sound while keeping the original purpose of the sound intact
@Thought-Forms7 ай бұрын
It will change the patches (so the oscillators, envelopes, etc) but not the performance level volume or settings. so if you have a pad sound and randomize, its likely you wont end up with a pad sound again. it appears to just retain the number of patches you have slotted in the performance + performance settings

Happy Monday sir, I must check out your packs I just have no clue how to add them, heck I can't even work out how to save new presets without overwriting the original 😂
@gianlucamarchese7 ай бұрын
You just need to find in the vst settings the voice “load new bank” if I remember right, the Wavestation loading / saving performances process is a bit tricky…
@koncreteto27587 ай бұрын
@gianlucamarchese yeah for real, I've overwritten patches that I ca t seamcto get back and no idea where they save to 😂

Yeah, Korg makes a big deal about its randomization. They provide one of, if not the best, randomizing algorithms for their various syths that has that feature. And i mean, in just one click you created a patch out of thin air which would have been a crazy tedium to create in most powerful soft synths, even in the mirr advanced, multilayered/multiengine synths like Falcon, or VPS avenger. And i mean... that patch you made doesn't sound dated (in the sense of complexity and sound design. The use case might be considered "dated" based on people's taste in music. But i think that button just created a marvel 1:58

Which other Korg vst synths have this feature?
@Thought-Forms7 ай бұрын
100%! Randomization in more complex synths like the Wavestation is crucial to help people pull unique sounds out of it. from my perspective, just a great starting point for further design

Your "power chords" do more mixing than the different single sounds. Just stick to power chords, then you may hear differences.
