Solid video. Something to may consider in the future. You may want to tighten the flange first and then the clamps. Reason being this might pull the sliding piece forward so your flanged joints are parallel. When you tighten the clamps first and then tighten the flange its possible your flange is bowing a bit (tighter at the ends and open in the center). Maybe a non issue and hopefully you are sealed up but just something to consider.

I think that's video auto-stabilization. His camera is really shaky, so what it's trying to do, is stretch the image of the video with the shaking, though this is the early form of the technology, when it wasn't that great. You can notice it, because the left and right sides of the video will move closer and farther away by how they look, in a nauseating kind of way.

Thanks for the video, and great fix! I'm going to do this for all future exhaust work I do. Hey man, please do not ever get under a vehicle supported by only a jack. Use jackstands always, and give the vehicle a good rock to make sure it's stable on jackstands. I would hate for you to get hurt my friend.

I cant believe anyone would do shit like that,i can see a teenager doing this, i did that many times when i was a kid but this guy sounds like hes a older guy, should know better,a brick, a piece of wood,a tire with a rim, anything to give you a fighting chance in case that old china jack decides to fall down.

Yes please use jack stands. Even when I was young and dumb I would still use one of my wheels just in case. Jacks have failed 3x on me

I dont know, not sure id put sealant at that gasket since it will make it a pain to remove in the future, will most likely def need a new gasket if so. Wonder if a different clamp would seal better, like a lap joint clamp.

67 ft lbs wow....I was only torquing to 30ft lbs I wonder if that's why I have a leak... I have a slip joint that is leaking after removing the midpipe and then reinstalling it...before it did not leak so I don't have it fully seated....I don't know if I just didn't torque it down enough or if I didn't fully seat it...will torquing it down help fully seat it or do I just need to whack it with a rubber mallet to get it to fully seat?

@dntlss
@dntlss Жыл бұрын
Most exhaust you see that has those slip joints are off the rack exhausts meaning it was made by a company,the majority of exhaust you see custom built by a shop are a one piece cause they dont wanna deal with leaks,companies have started making these multiple piece exhaust i presume to ease shipping, small box= cheaper shipping and no matter what anyone tells you they always leak,i bought one all stainless for almost a grand and it leaks like a sieve so you gotta do what this gentleman did and break out the Permatex,lol or you can have it welded, they are really nice though.

Do you feel any better throttle response and is there any rasp to it? I have kinetix hfc and a muffler delete and I’m debating between this y pipe or motordyne now lol
@SteveKish
@SteveKish 4 жыл бұрын
There is more throttle response and power. There is a very small amount of rasp but adding in a resonator would clean that up. The motordyne with the resonator option is a good way to go.

It's really high temp silicone so you can as long as you don't exceed the temp rating. I've used it on donut ring connections and exhaust clamp connections without any leaks.
