A book worth reading, but there's something I see on this and other channels that cover topics like these. The vast majority of these books and channels talk about starting in your 20s and 30s. I have yet see anyone discuss what to do if you're one of those people who missed the window. What about us? I'm going to be 46 later this month, and I still dream of financial independence, but I've definitely missed some important windows. I'm not dead yet, so I'm still fighting. Because I'm getting a later start, I have to be very careful about my goals. That part where you talk (or the book talks about) being careful not to make rash decisions because you've decided you absolutely have to be independent by a certain age definitely applies to me. I'm not entirely sure what to do at my age, though I imagine most of the same rules apply. I've already begun paying myself first, as Clason suggests. I'm trying to pay off my debts as quickly as possible. Being able to find stocks that pay dividends would be helpful, but I still haven't learned how to do that. If you, Swedish Investor, have any advice for older folks working on this, that would be great. If you know of any channels run by older investors who got a late start, would you be willing to refer me? Your channel is the first one I come to for learning and investment advice, but knowing of some channels that work with late bloomers would be wonderful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
@TheSwedishInvestor Жыл бұрын
Cheers Daniel for your support and for this question, it's a good one. I'd say that pretty much the same rules applies, except that you may have to delay "autumn" a little bit, or be even more dedicated during your "summer". Regarding dividend stocks, they are no better than stocks without dividends. It's about what price you pay for the stock (you want cheap) vs how high the quality of the underlying business is (you want high). A high quality business has a very robust earnings stream, high return on tangible assets, good prospects for growth, and a dedicated & trustworhy management. I'm not sure about any channels run by investors who got a late start, I'm afraid. I wouldn't say that it matters, though. The same rules apply - earn well, save a lot, learn how to invest. You can find most of that information on this channel, just watch these 3 playlists: Earn well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iITEeoJ5fceoj9k&pp=gAQBiAQB Save: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXXHhZawiduSgbs&pp=gAQBiAQB Invest: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKvMmGqBf6uohLc&pp=gAQBiAQB

There is no different advice that will somehow help a forty-something person get that nice 20 K /month in passive income in the next 3 years, like the author got to at 49. The harsh reality that even TSI won't tell you is that your seasons are 'pushed'. You are starting spring planting season in the middle of summer, and if you save really hard and invest carefully, your investments might start growing good right about 5-10 years after traditional retirement time. The best outcome is that once you are forced to retire by your poor health, you will have enough investment income to add to social security to make up your former after tax income, and that is the best you can hope for. Investing your way to wealth is a young man's game, not because you have to be young, but these things take time, and time is the one thing none of us are getting any more of.

The seasons concept really helped me put things into perspective. I've spent my 20's pursuing higher education. Since leaving my industry job to go chase my master's and PhD I felt like I was falling behind my peers... But I have always kept saving, I am happy with a frugal lifestyle and I started investing a couple years ago. It is reassuring to see that this is my springtime. Summer will come soon.🥰

Consistency over time is the secret to success and most people can understand this intellectually. However, consistency requires you to do things when you dont want to do them. It is all about commitment and emotional balance. Not so much about intellect.

That's depressing. I'm 38 paid my house off in 3 years in the toughest housing market in the world Australia. Sacrificed having a family. Now live alone. Sometimes trying to get a head costs you everything. Be careful and know what game your in. The world in my expense is designed to suck all the money from you even if you are frugal you still need to buy food, water, taxes, energy. You can't escape it n getting ahead takes more than 1 life time these days. And encourages you to price gouge the next person for the "surplus". Our society is a joke built by the rich. Even the necessities are over priced!

I think you should lower your expectations of your day. I used to eat out a lot, had tons of snacks and cola, Monster etc... Wanted to chill all day after work and try to do as little as possible even thinking about getting a cleaning lady with my last ditch of money. I was gaming a lot buying new games and gears, even a vr headset which is now rotting away... Slowly I stopped these habits, they slowly eat away your money. Just the food was like 25% of my income. Now im cooking healthy and eating vegetable as snacks. Now Im not only healthier and happier but I just opened 10% of my entire income to invest. Same with other stuff like rent and subscriptions. Now Im close to 40% of my income that I can invest and I even starting to work 1/2 days a week extra to invest aswell. While still staying at 0% stress, due to a slow pace of advancement. Never stop working on your life, Its like not cleaning your room/apartment/house, not bad at first but after some time it gets nasty and way harder to clean back up again. Thanks for reading wanted to clear my mind. :)

I remeber you doing a video on how you (could) sort thrue stock on ticker, on another video I believe you showed an example of how you evaluate a certain company (in "warren buffet: 12 mistakes every investor makes"). Do you think you could do a video actually showing how you perform these analysis? Or perhaps share some templet on excel for example? Perhaps I´m being cheap and should simple test out your patreon in that case feel free to berate me. Hade bäst och tack för bra genomgående innehåll!
