honestly I prefer to focus on getting out the main link on turn 1. yes it means you have to play the bad spell cards and the other bad weather painter monsters, but you can easily get to them anyway, and I still like Piri Map despite its flaws. Plus, you still have enough room to fit in handtraps and backrow.

I personally appreciate that the deck is far more playable than it was before. I mean, that field spell is completely broke, there's no way it wouldn't be playable after something incredible like that. But yeah, competitively viable, no, locals it'll be fun but I'm always going to appreciate the fun decks more than the ones that end up on the banlist in a few months time. Edit: Also, moonbow's artwork is absolutely gorgeous.

Previously Weather Painter would use Valhalla and Hecatrice to search it. Usually after you used Hecatrice once the rest of its copies are kinda useless, but since Hecatrice is a Level 4 Light Fairy, that gave me an idea to use Small World with this deck. I included 2 Veiler, 2 Ghost Ogre, 2 Thunder King (Light Kaiju), so that I can also use Small World on them (ie. Reveal Veiler from hand, reveal Hecatrice from deck, add any Weather Painter monster except Thunder who's also light).

After testing the deck after the support I can say you were too greedy,even the crappy ones are fine with how accesible the field spell is,now the decision is more if you go for rainbow even if you don't have the combo b/c even one negate may get you to the next turn which is all that matters. In general I feel the deck is rogue competitive again and absolutely slays other control decks,let's just hope the red painter comes one day and it's not a figment of our imagination lol

You should definitely be playing Map! If you are afraid of your opponent being too aggro, there are plenty of good ways to circumvent that. Stuff like spooky dog wood (unironically) see play in the deck. I like playing One day of peace as well. I dont think the anti-spell lock is a main deck sort of thing, but it was cool to see it try to go

Something that is effectively a Musketeer in the opening hand while still being a spell that can trigger a Musketeer on the field would really help to alleviate their bricking issues. Not to mention, if the ROTA is actually a named "Musket" spell, it would enable Max to indirectly search one monster, even if the opponent doesn't control any backrow. I'd also be partial to some sort of extender. A Musket-only revival spell, or maybe a Musketeer that could summon itself from the hand when a Musketeer is sent from the field to the graveyard. You know, anything to stop a single quick effect pop from ending your turn if you don't open with Cross-Dom/Last Stand.

@@esbernhawkins5912 yooo I had similar thoughts! A rota would be good cos then if u open musket+rota u trigger musket effect, and if u open all spells/traps u can search something to summon. Even better than a rota, a trap quick-launch would be cool cos then u can extend if normal summon gets hit, and it triggers stuff easily. Furthermore, a link 2 musket that can non-target banish (once per turn, when spell/trap is activate in the column) would help them get past stuff that can't be destroyed or targeted (something the archetype lacks). The link2 can lock u into muskets from the extra deck for the turn or something as a restriction.

Musketeers need an in-archetype e-tele or some other way to get more bodies on the board. The 3 major issues of the deck are 1. NS gets popped/bounced (shuts off all of your s/t and denies Max) 2. You just don't open a musket (shuts off all of your s/t) and 3. Max gets negated (because you gave up your ONLY musketeer to summon him, now your resource is offline). Into the VRAINS will help resolve Max, but we desperately need a way to get more musketeers out to keep our s/t and our resource engine online.

This deck I feel like has potential for rouge playable if teched out for the current meta, but man how I wish that we had gotten a better card than the new link 3, like the field spell is cracked but that link 3 could have been a link 2 and besides making a 3 interruption card 2 it would have made this deck so much faster since cloud+snow could have gotten u there turn 1 for a 2 interruption board, but it is what it is sadly

I think Piri Reis Map should be played since Snow by itself makes Rainbow turn 1. Combining that with another Weather Painter forces your opponent to play through 2 negations. Also, that set up with Cloud gets you a solid follow up.

In spite of the deck being easily OTKd, Piri Reis Map is way too good to not run it. You NEED to see Snow in your hand turn 1 to have the best shot at building a good board. Map can also search Gamma and Veiler which should replace imperm in the deck imo as it is not gone with a Lightning Strike or a Duster. With 9 potential copies of Snow in the deck, you can add more defensive cards and cut on some others. For example, I would put Fragrance in the side. You can make Rainbow turn 1 as long as you have Snow + Cloud + any weather spell. The true problem of the deck from my testing are Swarm decks and Turn 2. Herald of Orange Light is one of the cards I play since you can search fodder for it (I play Sun cause he can get back from the GY so it's not a complete loss of advantage). I also play Kaijus (in the main) cause the interaction with the bounce is still something Weather like to have as they don't have any real breaking board ability.

-I don't think that's how skill drain works in this case, as card effects resolve where they are activated, not where they are on resolution, and the backrow gives the effects to the monsters, so it resolves as the effect of the monster. Could 100% be wrong though.- edit: I was in fact very wrong

It's because Skill Drain specifically only affect monsters that are currently face-up on the field. Since Weather Painter monsters banish themselves as cost and therefore they won't be affected by Skill Drain.

This comment may read as me being rude to all the new people excited for the deck with the unparalleled access Forecast gives to Painter Rainbow, but there's one thing I hate regarding the discourse surrounding playing Piri Reis Map... And I only say any of this out of a passionate adoration of the Deck, its theme, its playstyle, its synergies, everything... Let's be real - If a The Weather pilot was going to lose the game by shaving half their life points to Piri Reis Map - they were going to lose the game regardless because they didn't have access to Snow. Personally, I'll take the consistency The Map provides any day of any week. People "justifying" themselves not playing The Map forget they grew up with this game, like everyone else, under the mantra of "Life points don't matter." People just now getting into The Weather expect Forecast to fix all the problems the deck has, given that it has always been rogue at best... Look - I get that people want this deck to be the best it can be - I do too But you can't escape the reality of the situation at hand people, a Painter needs a Canvas and a Canvas needs a Painter. Recently I have been testing WP with our favorite engine of the day: DPE. And it is so absurdly funny how DPE interacts with Weather Painter Cloud anyway. Also, those 400 ATK loss really comes up when your strongest monsters have 2400 ATK with most of them having 1700 or less. Edit: Also, I really don't know why MBT thought it was a good idea to main a do-nothing card like Anti-Spell instead of siding it. Just because it has synergy doesn't mean you have to main it or otherwise Degenerate Circuit would be a staple 3 of in WP's.
