The weaver and the ananasi are so interesting when talking about aspects like balance, perfection and stagnation, while the wild brings the idea of change and evolution, and at last... destruction

I've wondered if there could be an element of arguing who is to blame for the state of the world. The Garou blame her but could it be turned around and be said by a Weaver follower "The Weaver didn't start the Impurgium or the War of Rage and in fact was ended by the werespiders who are creature of the Weaver". Or if in an extreme case have someone say "Gaia didn't do a good job keeping the Triat in check. Maybe our patron deity should call the shots."

@@Peecamarke one could have it both ways, have it so the weaver was once a very nuanced being and the situation was very complicated, but just as the wyrm has gone mad and devolved in its imprisonment, so to has the weaver gone crazy with the triat being out of balance.

Well, Weaver follower would certainly blame the Wyrm, saying that it destroyed things faster and faster, even destroying them when the Weaver just finished stabilising them and that the Weaver tried to work faster to keep up with the Wyrm and in the end, had no choice but to bind it so creation could have a chance to live. It doesn't change the fact that the Weaver is mad but i doubt his followers would recognized it except maybe Anansa.

In the version I heard passed down from narrator to player for... Let's make it pretty and say "generations" XD Gaia didn't created the Triad but viceversa, the Wyld made its magnum opus and the Weaver transformed that into absolute perfection: Gaia And it was so perfect in fact that in desperation imprisoned the other 2 members of the triad The Wyrm who could destroy that perfection was imprisoned in the Black Spiral... And The Wyld who could add imperfections into Gaia was intended to be imprisoned in the eternal labyrinth... But chaos finds a way... Still, this somehow make the Wyld limit itself to the near umbra... Meanwhile the Weaver is desperately trying to freeze Gaia in reality to make her perfection last forever So who's to blame? Well, the Weaver for going against the cycle But for more understandable reason than just being pissed at the Wyrm and going mad

One interesting thing you passed over is the weavers original target was the wyld. This was mostly out of revenge for creating evolution no longer did the wyld create something that had a definde role set by the weaver now the objects themselves were able to adapt and change from their given role.

But the Wyld doesn't create something with a definite role, its chaos incarnated, his creations are ever changing, ever shifting. That's why the Weaver exist, its the one supposed to stabilize the Wyld creations and give them a definite role.

Well, even though the Weaver brought certain good things into the world, we definitely cannot be grateful to her for what her madness led to. But even if we forget about how she split the Triad, her web still covers the world too tightly. Potentially, she can become something much worse than Wyrm, and her manic craving for stabilization of everything inevitably leads to emu. But despite this, she is an important element of the circle of life and her role in it is no less important than the role of Wyld and Wyrm, well, in his best years. Thanks as always for a great job! the video, as always, turned out to be interesting, informative and exciting 👍

I also thought after I read the lore from the werewolves in the other things like vampire the Masquerade and Mage that the Weaver the worm and the Wild represented the powers that are affecting almost every faction at some level in the world of Darkness I always wonder where Mages fit into that pattern

During the last Camarilla RPG group sanctioned game of Werewolf: the Apocalypse (back when the old WoD was coming to an end and the new WoD was being introduced) all the Werewolves that showed up for the final battle encountered the Weaver herself. She was locked in eternal struggle with the Wyrm himself. Their minds interpreted it as a giant spider constantly cocooning a giant black dragon that was constantly trying to break free.

@@TheMapleTable It was. All of the Get of Fenris players present tried to just rush attack the Weaver on the spot the moment they saw this. It didn't go well for them. Eventually the Wyrm was freed though, and after escaping the bonds of the Weaver it returned to sanity, all of it's corrupted forms dissipating and being replaced with the balanced versions of the Wyrm. The freed and sane Wyrm then went on to restore balance to a corrupted and dying universe by helping to bring it to a good end. The spirit of Gaia was dead and that point and the physical Earth was soon to follow. After this event all the Changing breeds disappeared, and the Mage chronicle/venue was slowly brought to an end. Eventually a group of Mages, invited by Lucifer to help the universe move on confronted Charon, who was a Fallen this whole time, and his Fallen followers who built a machine to preserve all wraiths, hold back Oblivion, and attempt to keep the universe in a decaying stasis. Those mages (the ones who weren't teleported into the Avatar Storm by Demons) eventually managed to persuade Charon to stop holding back Oblivion and undo his great machine. After this there was a mass Ascension event in which all remaining Mages achieved Ascension and helped repair the upper Umbra. This eventually allowed the universe to "die" and "reincarnate" as the new World of Darkness, or the Chronicles of Darkness as it has come to be renamed. Meanwhile the Changelings, realizing that all the World of Darkness splats are just dreams born of The Dreaming went and NOPED the hell into their own parallel universe as self aware dreams, disappeared from the main venue and didn't have to deal with any of this end of the world stuff. A universe in which Changeling: the Dreaming was the only venue. And then the True Fae showed up for epic final venue confrontations and resolutions.

Nice video on the Weaver my friend. And the only opinion on the Weaver states that it was not madness but it grew into paranoia because that all it to have perfect order. Which I grew pity of it.

this is gonna sound like a weird question but as a someone new to world of darkness i was wondering if someone can clarify the larger cosmos and theology of the world. is the world created by Gaia or the jewish-christian god? are the Triad of wyrm, weaver and Gaia reflective of the holy trinity or are they angels/falen angels who are/were agents of god? sorry if this obviously explained in the lore but im just a bit confused as a newcomer?

This is a big question actually. The triat wild wrym and the weaver are powerful spirits essentially. God does exist but isn't very active. Angels, called Celestines also exist along with demons. The trait was likely inspired by the Catholic holy trinity though it is not the same.
