The PRS S2 is surely above the MIM Fenders. As a PRS customer I'll say I have a beautiful SE but the S2 is better. The quality is there, "not quite as good" is totally incorrect. And I've always known the pickups were the same, which perform as well as the Duncans, DiMarzios and Gibsons I have (yes I play live a lot). They just don't have he stupid expensive price tag and all the superficial frosting you don't need. The S2 is probably more akin to the upper level standard production U.S. Fender guitars, while the upper level PRS guitars are like a Klon - and all that may imply, good or bad.

I feel like the biggest visual difference between PRS, S2, and SE is the carve of the face of the body. The mainline PRS has a smooth carve, while the S2 has bevels to a flat face. It used to be that the SE also had the beveled flat face, but it looks like they've changed that to be a shallower smooth carve recently.

Sounds like the PRS S2 like is like redheaded child Fender PERFORMER line. Made in USA and stuck in between Amproii (US) and Player (Mx)
@lefthandpath15875 ай бұрын
PRS S2 = Solution Searching (for a problem). The reason PRS is suddenly offering US pickups is because they didn't realize their anticipated sales with S2s that were 'kinda sorta mostly American made' at the 2K price point. Folks looked at the value proposition of those versus SEs and said nope, not worth another $1,300. - and they are *still* not.

@@StupidGuitar SE's are high quality guitars. The only selling point of S2 is "Made in America", which nobody except americans care about.

Just listening to your description makes me think it should be called "the complicator" instead - what's more simple than "drop amp on floor then plug in and go?"
@RobertFisher19695 ай бұрын
Picking up an acoustic guitar is simpler. Just like an electric guitar amp isn’t for someone who is just playing unamplified acoustic, the Simplifiers aren’t for people who are just plugging into an amp. Some of us have had complicated setups that a Simplifier does indeed simplify.

Andy, you are a true guitar player, bitching about $1500 guitars but having no qualms about $350 pedals. I'm totally on board, having a personal limit of $1000 on guitars and $300 on pedals/fx.

got my hands on the new epis they are the same shitty q.c guitars that they always had on offer with a new shape head stock do not fall for the hype and waste your money on something that will not hold any value if it don't say Gibson and your shopping for a Gibson just say no
@lefthandpath15875 ай бұрын
Agree with all of this except the 'hold value' part -= this is where folks get into trouble. Guitars are not investments. If you want to preserve the value of your dollars, buy stocks. If you buy Gibsons esp. Les Pauls hoping they'll retain or increase in value - well, you're betting on a lot of 55-70 year old men living for another 30 years.

@@StupidGuitar oh yes and very clear understanding because epiphone has that GIBSON headstock there be no real resell value because of that I just sold a 2021 epiphone limited exclusive modern figured Sg for $1,000 dollars and it has the proper Kalamazoo headstock you'll never see that with the Gibson headstock epiphones did you understand what I said
